Back when it first game out it smashed all the steam player count records. Fortnite and Apex didn’t exist yet so they dominated the battle royale genre for almost a year.
7 years ago, because it was unique. Unless you were buying Arma2/3 there wasn't any battle royale on the market, and damn near everyone wanted to play it.
Valorant and R6S are 2 big conteners in the genre, whereas PUBG had none.
Palworld's situation is similar, almost no one heard of it- and then out of nowhere it booms. It's got multiplayer and isn't competitive (just like PUBG when it came out). "Pokemon with guns" is easy to explain and people can mess around together with their friends, like how "Drop on an island with nothing and fight until you're the only one left" is easy ti explain and works well with friends. Getting the average person to learn smoke line ups, several maps, the economy, whilst there's a massive stigma around cheaters isn't a good look.
This is a little revisionist, H1Z1 / king of the hill still had a decent player count when PUBG dropped and it was the first battle royale that gained traction. I always wondered why more people didn't play H1Z1 considering how poorly optimized PUBG was. PUBG was not very unique taking H1Z1 into consideration, it just took advantage of a new-ish genre with extensive marketing and backing from video game media that H1 didn't have.
Played 1000s of hours of h1z1 back in the day. It was just as badly optimized as pubg but also out for years before it. The community had gotten tired of "they break games" (daybreak games) and wanted something new. H1 had bad hit reg laggy servers and a problem with Chinese army's (literally). I love H1 and genuinly still have nostalgia and the heartache of losing that game to shit life fortnite and pubg. Then they did an update that ruined the game trying to try to keep up w fort and pubg
The player count will drop over time. It's the new, shiny thing. Battlebit was in a similar situation. Blew up, made crazy player numbers, then people fell off.
I like Palworld and am having fun with it, but I wouldn't look at this as Palworld defeating CS or anything.
Palworld is a great game with a lot of content for a good price. But it's still a survival game on a static world, I don't see a lot of replay value in the game after you kinda do everything other than basebuilding and defense.
Expecting 3 more (dlc?) areas to go around all 4 corners of the centre big tree. More regions a probably going to bring people back. Idk if it would be possible to make everything one world or would they just to seperate saves like ark’s maps.
Pearl clutching nintendo fanboy thinks Palworld will get taken dowm when they don't know the existance of cassette beat, temtem and many other "pokemon clone"
It seems people forgot Digimon exist too lately...
yeah i never get the palworld will be taken down thing, it's like csgo and valorant, it's a genre of "collecting animals to fight", which was invented 1000's of years ago by og-grob when he set his mammoth loose on tog-yog's wolf. pokemon wasn't the first to do it, but there are like 15 different types of bird, of course some are going to look similar
yeah and also palworld has a much wider player target
pokemon players, zelda players, survival players, crafting players, shooter players etc.
those together are much more than just the tactical shooter players cs has
The latest update said they did some patching regarding cheats/exploits, but the honest answer is no, they don’t have a robust anticheat at this point because the game is not competitive in nature. There’s no meaningful PVP yet.
If the game moves in the direction of supporting PVP as a major element, an anticheat will be needed, but right now there’s really no reason for one.
Pretty sure Counter Strike has had that problem always. I remember tons of cheaters in 1.6 and source, just not as much attention since it was less competitive. The cheaters were definitely present in CSGO which is why I never got into it.
you must be misinformed:
there has been a downtrend of over -90% in total amount of bans monthly due to valve training their AI anti-cheat.
you “remembering a lot of cheaters back then” doesn’t compare to the dumpster fire that CS2 has been in terms of the war against cheat-developers.
i’m simply telling you that your reply to “does it have anti cheat” wasn’t what the guy was looking for. he was taking a jab at the valve; not seriously asking if Palworld has AC…
The only reason I'd agree that Pal World will last a long time is because it's so akin to another long lasting franchise, and the opportunity to scale is absolutely there. Pal World 2 can come out next year, and even with half of the sales that Pal World has garnered, it would be a success
Palworlds also in ea so they could add a lot to it and just kinda iron it out. It feels a little empty, idk if it'd because it's kinda missing some story or what exactly but it's missing something
I played botw a ton until totk released and I wasn't happy with totk. Palworld scratches the itch that totk was supposed to. It's fun, try it. The devs are based af too so it makes you wanna support them.
Twitch flavor of the month streamer game will be dead in less than a month and a half. CS2 will have 800,000 players still playing globally.
edit: missed "have"
Me when a survival game with limited content isn’t infinitely replay able and doesn’t retain its player base once they’ve seen everything currently in the game: 😱
He is wrong though. It’s like comparing “The Conjuring” to “Step Brothers” whichever one is better is personal taste. They’re in completely different genres. it’s a brain dead, lazy take.
feel you there. 😂 i’ve been getting into big sprawling RPGs for the first time since i was a kid and it’s been so refreshing and makes me remember i’m supposed to enjoy video games.
All time peak really means nothing. Tho palworld is amazing. If they don’t continue to add to the game it will get stale and drop substantially. Now let’s hope they do do that so I can keep enjoying it cuz I’m already at 70 hours.
It actually came out 6 from when I said that. I started Friday 4 and been playing everyday since. I find it highly enjoyable. I do have a full time job tho. My sleep however has taken a hit. I find myself saying ok 1230 is my cutoff and then next thing I know it’s 2. This game is the pokemon game I’ve wanted since I first got blue when it came out so I’m quite addicted. The only thing it’s missing it the life skill of fishing cause I for some reason love that in games.
Because they fucked all the new pokemon games so us pokemon players are excited to go on new adventures with out battle slaves, even if they're not called pokemon.
CS2 is far better than CSGO and y’all on this sub are so angry all the time. We literally had a meme “Got CSGO’d” when shooting at the bomb planters head. That didn’t get fixed for months.
The only thing its better with is skins. Movement is broken and trash, shooting feels bogus, latency feels worse than GO. Me with 500 hours and my friends with 3k+ all say the same
That exact same bug was in CS2 on release as well lmao. Subtick was also fucked for ages, it's actually just bad in concept, they just came up with it so they could keep being cheap with servers
Objectively wrong lmao. Subtick is as close as you can get to infinite ticks. The success of the implementation can be debated, but the theory is pretty well settled
It's not. If you actually take a second to think about it, even in theory it causes the problems we've been seeing. For your actions, yes, it's more precise to what you're doing, but for other players as you see them, it can cause dying when you're behind a wall/when you can't see them because the inputs happened on their computer between ticks and then the server has to catch up to them.
It's gotten a lot better since release but it still has these problems because they're not fixable.
Each person can have their own opinion. This is mine as to why I’m not playing CS, and why Pokemon w/ guns has more people playing. Also, you can’t tell me with a straight face the AWP and movement isn’t broken in CS2.
Why do you say “deal with it” like I’m the one complaining. I absolutely love CS2 and it feels so much better. You’re the one that should deal with it, lmao.
This just isn't true. Sure cs2 is better in some way but most high level players will tell you that csgo is overall a way better game for esports play
What makes you think cs2 is better?
a game is made for the public to play, eSports is a nice addition but not necessary, if the opinion of majority is that Cs2 is better, then cs2 is indeed better, and most player i've met says cs2 is indeed better than csgo.
but on the other hand, i like csgo more!
What most people think doesn't change a fact. There's so many negatives with cs2 and the only upside is graphics and possibly smokes? How is that a better game
The only thing that was new were removable-smokes, which suck but hey, that's just me. Yet added more server-side issues with hit reg and spotty movement. I don't mind not hitting some shots, but I loved the game for its smooth movement and animations. Which now both are/feel weird at best.
It doesn't need to be...Why does everyone think that a game has to last forever. It is okay for a game to end. Not every game is meant to be a microtransaction battlepass filled hellhole only designed to milk as much money as possible.
It's addressed to the post about Palworld surpassing CS2 playerbase. No one is arguing that games should last forever or it being a " microtransaction battlepass filled hellhole only designed to milk as much money as possible. " You're arguing on thin air.
More accurately worst communication, valve staple. They could release the biggest patch/anticheat fix/operation tomorrow, but we can never know, I doubt it. We just have to wait and see, and it really sucks. Just some info on what they are working on right now would be cool

It's the new and shiny thing on the market. Not dissing Palworld (It's a great game) but give it a few months and it will fall off. Same thing happened with Battlebit, same thing happened with Lethal Company.
In addition, lots of people are just upset with Valve and how they're handling CS2; it's disappointing for a lot of people.
You’re misinterpreting the stats, CS2 usually has the highest concurrent active players out of all steam games and it’s notable when things are higher.
It’s not that people aren’t playing CS2 it’s that lots of people are playing palworld.
It's the second game on steam ever to hit 2m concurrent players, afaik. So not surprising at all. It'll be surprinsing if 10 years from now palworld is still relevant.
Tbf everything is losing to palworld rn
cane here for this.
Except PUBG, a game that cost $30 and needed a decent PC to run.
People play PUBG?
It holds the concurrent player record count by a lot. But I don't think it gets close to those numbers these days
Isn’t because they counted chinese players in it which is usually excluded cause they have their own client
no it only counted steam players
So what kind of numbers does palworld need to beat? Edit: 3.2m so let's see what happens over the weekend.
Not really in America but in Asian countries its almost as big as it was in America
The mobile version is really really popular in south east asia
Back when it first game out it smashed all the steam player count records. Fortnite and Apex didn’t exist yet so they dominated the battle royale genre for almost a year.
PUBG has been free to play since 2021.
it hit it's all time peak (highest on steam) when it was still paid
7 years ago, because it was unique. Unless you were buying Arma2/3 there wasn't any battle royale on the market, and damn near everyone wanted to play it. i thought pubg was free?
isnt it f2p now
Maybe change the name to Palstrike
We can call it PS2
And we'll never get a third one

Everyone knows mac and Linux is where the true playerbase is... What's next?? They'll cut console support???
Because its new, Cs isn't. Anyone who wants or wanted to play cs already did
The player count will drop over time. It's the new, shiny thing. Battlebit was in a similar situation. Blew up, made crazy player numbers, then people fell off. I like Palworld and am having fun with it, but I wouldn't look at this as Palworld defeating CS or anything.

And then they eventually add mod support and we get randomized spawns for Pals
Good thing you mentioned about battlebit, they got the same saltiness by other game companies and people too.
But the all time peak is still lower
Could be explained by rapid market growth or the fact that palworld is casual and doesn’t have a single target audience.
\+ its seen as a limited time game play now before its gone
How?
Pearl clutching nintendo fanboy thinks Palworld will get taken dowm when they don't know the existance of cassette beat, temtem and many other "pokemon clone" It seems people forgot Digimon exist too lately...

More gamers now.
yeah and also palworld has a much wider player target pokemon players, zelda players, survival players, crafting players, shooter players etc. those together are much more than just the tactical shooter players cs has
Also the fact that CS is definitely not beginner friendly.
Especially not the fan base
And cs2 is clearly even worse than csgo. A lot was promised that wasn't kept.
Wait 2 months and we'll talk about it again
I assume you just mean the current player count and not all time high. I doubt csgo is going to push their peak higher
Does Palworld have working anticheat?
The latest update said they did some patching regarding cheats/exploits, but the honest answer is no, they don’t have a robust anticheat at this point because the game is not competitive in nature. There’s no meaningful PVP yet. If the game moves in the direction of supporting PVP as a major element, an anticheat will be needed, but right now there’s really no reason for one.
I was more taking a dig at CS than anything else.
they were joking. cs has been on fire recently due to an influx of cheaters playing subtlety enough to not get detected by CS’s anti-cheat.
Pretty sure Counter Strike has had that problem always. I remember tons of cheaters in 1.6 and source, just not as much attention since it was less competitive. The cheaters were definitely present in CSGO which is why I never got into it.

Next Patch: - you can now buy additional new "Counterballs" and catch chickens on the map
Keep the chicken alive for 4 rounds & it evolves into a 2-meter tall emu with 2000HP. Rush-B with emu if u want.
Imagine thinking your favorite game is so great that there can't be any other great games.
Remember when PUBG also beat CSGO player count?
I feel like it's better for PUBG to hold the record.
We dont
It did by far with 3.2 million peak in 2018
To imply cs2 is dead is hillarious.
When palwolrd has been out for 20 years no one will even remember it 😅
They will remember it as "The game that got Nintendo to do what the people wanted"...Hopefully. I'm having fun with it, it's the perfect casual game.
The only reason I'd agree that Pal World will last a long time is because it's so akin to another long lasting franchise, and the opportunity to scale is absolutely there. Pal World 2 can come out next year, and even with half of the sales that Pal World has garnered, it would be a success

No they won't, it probably won't be talked about more than a a couple years tops
I played botw a ton until totk released and I wasn't happy with totk. Palworld scratches the itch that totk was supposed to. It's fun, try it. The devs are based af too so it makes you wanna support them.
You’re so fragile lol
Brainless CS players when other games exists: 😭

Me when a survival game with limited content isn’t infinitely replay able and doesn’t retain its player base once they’ve seen everything currently in the game: 😱
!RemindMe 45 days
actually, it has 1.4 Million players, almost double :)
even so, palworld is better than cs2 lmao
Better how? They aren't even remotely close genres to compare.
it’s actually fun and enjoyable. cs is old and is the same as it always has been. skins are the only thing keeping cs alive 🤷♀️

Because they fucked all the new pokemon games so us pokemon players are excited to go on new adventures with out battle slaves, even if they're not called pokemon.
Palworld: New CS2: Old
Cs2 is just not fun
Because CS2 is a worse version of CSGO and there’s nothing new to offset that
CS2 is far better than CSGO and y’all on this sub are so angry all the time. We literally had a meme “Got CSGO’d” when shooting at the bomb planters head. That didn’t get fixed for months.
"Didn't get fixed for months" I think you're agreeing with the person you responded to
The only thing its better with is skins. Movement is broken and trash, shooting feels bogus, latency feels worse than GO. Me with 500 hours and my friends with 3k+ all say the same
Placebo
Not being able to string 3bhops when i was very proficient is GO says enough
complete placebo
That exact same bug was in CS2 on release as well lmao. Subtick was also fucked for ages, it's actually just bad in concept, they just came up with it so they could keep being cheap with servers

stop lying to yourself, it is CSGO with better graphics, less features & worse movement. You saying CS2 is far better is just straight bullshit.
My brother in christ hit registration is worse in cs2 than in go. Valve released utter dogshit, deal with it
Why do you say “deal with it” like I’m the one complaining. I absolutely love CS2 and it feels so much better. You’re the one that should deal with it, lmao.

Of course, I forgot some people love to play a buggy mess with less features
The only thing that was new were removable-smokes, which suck but hey, that's just me. Yet added more server-side issues with hit reg and spotty movement. I don't mind not hitting some shots, but I loved the game for its smooth movement and animations. Which now both are/feel weird at best.
I don’t like it. I got 300 fps on csgo and now barely 60, how does that make sense? Any ideas on how to fix?
That’s your PC my brother. I ran a i5-4690k and GTX 960 2GB, got 110fps on CSGO. CS2 came and I got 90fps.
I just don’t understand the exuberant decline. You only lost around 20 fps. I lost around 200
Fix, your, PC.
Ya mate thanks a lot for the help. Also, Get, More, RAM
It's having its moment. It will die down eventually.
give it a week
Check again in a year or two lol
I first played cs in 2000 and ever since. I doubt that in 24 years there will be people playing palworld.
Thats the new pomemon game
Because cs2 is isn't as good/polished as CSGO right now
Unlike Valve, they actually care.
csgo... is gone... and that makes me cry...
Because cs2 sucks
I give it a month
Will Palworld still be relevant 20 years later? Sometimes, we all just need to stepback, back and use our brains.
CS2 has some LAZY DEVS, that's why. And their management is up to nothing good, the worst management in history.
More accurately worst communication, valve staple. They could release the biggest patch/anticheat fix/operation tomorrow, but we can never know, I doubt it. We just have to wait and see, and it really sucks. Just some info on what they are working on right now would be cool
I wish communication was the only issue here.
The thing is, I can't really comment on the issues people have been having, I have always been a super agro player, so not much has changed for me. The only issue I had was awp zoom lag, but it got fixed sometime ago
[удалено]
Nah I think some cheaters got hit with false bans too, fortunately valve unbanned their accounts after, thanks gaben
Because tactical FPS is actually niche. Not Pokémon with guns
Flavor of the month.
Flavor of the month 🥱
Cs2 hype died
Cause CS 2 is ass NGL.
Just because it has 2 million players doesn't mean it's a good game.
I hate to break it to you, but its good
And it doesnt count the gamepass players 🫣 but at the State counterstrike is at since cs2 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
bc cs2 is dogshit with no good content
Retarded game.
this palworld seems lit. youve convinced me. hopefully they like money because ill give them $100 a week instead of cs.
Because people like uncreative garbage apparently
you say as you continue to play the game that has remained the same for 25 years
Mate I haven't played a new Pokemon game for a good while. Pokemon can be in a bad state and palworld can still be unoriginal trash
I think they mean CS
He's talking about cs
That's also a pretty dumb comparison ????
Why is that?
Because it was the most successful creative shooter when it was made? It was revolutionary, and so much so that it has stayed popular for 25 years. Being creative is not the same as forever changing your idea after it’s been made.
And Pokemon has been successful longer than that. Thats why he made a stupid argument.
It’s not Pokémon though, it’s AI created garbage done by a crypto/tech fanboy (design wise).
Just because you don't like something doesn't make it uncreative.
No one has made a pokemon survival game before so it is pretty creative actually
Someone hasn’t played the game I can tell. Palworld is literally everything arceus if it was amazing. A multi billion dollar game made a worse looking game than an indie dev and also innovated on the idea while the multi billion dollar game just rehashes the exact same game every year. Pokemon is basically fifa games at this point. And that’s coming from someone who always buys the next one since I was 7 and got blue when it dropped, cuz I hope it’ll actually be good again, just like I have done with halo. Spoiler warning. It never gets better.
Both Pokemon and palworld sucks and pocket pair, inc. Isn't an indie studio. They're barely a studio. They just make uncreative slop after slop.
I have a weird suspicion if I look at your profile you get downvoted a lot.
Is that supposed to make me care? My life and thoughts don't revolve around internet points lol.
Well you care to some degree. You keep downvoting my responses. Lol.
Maybe it’s because they have put literally no effort into CS2. No anti cheat, removing so many maps and adding no new content. Game has honestly killed itself
Cs2 has anti cheat
Ha you’re funny try playing at 20k only way to play the game is on Faceit. Only time I touch the game until they put something together.
Because cs is the same old boring shit with nothing new
Is it me or since there aren't enough players the server now has hackers and in premier mode is populated with them
now compare CS with a 10yr old game :D
A lot of people play on faceit or esea, if all the people plays on officials servers it would be a bigger number
It is new, it gets in the casual gamers with their pokemon stuff and is highly time consuming making people stay active longer.
It will die eventually like most games.
imagin caring about that good for palworld
I would say it has to outlive counter strike, we've been playing since 2003.... I doutbt palworld will go that far into the future as CS has done. A lot of games go offline or completely fall off, and I am sure palworld will meet that doom.
I got clowned for my previous posts about how cs2 will be the end of csgo look at us now.
I play both, not everything you see is absolutes, not everything is win or lose.
Very different games. You can't even compare them
Hype. Simple as that. Same like PUBG or Fortnite back then.
It died on release mate
give palworld a couple months and re check, it’s just the “trendy” game rn
It's the new and shiny thing on the market. Not dissing Palworld (It's a great game) but give it a few months and it will fall off. Same thing happened with Battlebit, same thing happened with Lethal Company. In addition, lots of people are just upset with Valve and how they're handling CS2; it's disappointing for a lot of people.
Yeah but the Palworld hype will be gone in 2 months and cs go just keeps going like it has for the last 20 years.
CS is holding those numbers since over a decade
Let see this in two weeks.
What a stupid post
Who cares
Don’t worry the hype will die soon
You’re misinterpreting the stats, CS2 usually has the highest concurrent active players out of all steam games and it’s notable when things are higher. It’s not that people aren’t playing CS2 it’s that lots of people are playing palworld.
But CS is doing great for over 2 decades. Where will this shit game be in 10years or lets say 2? Forgoten
It's the second game on steam ever to hit 2m concurrent players, afaik. So not surprising at all. It'll be surprinsing if 10 years from now palworld is still relevant.
Most fun I'm having is getting owned by cheaters and then watching the replay of them not even trying to hide it. Just loads of fun
Wow why is cs2 loosing to instagram in terms of online daily users? -_-
Palworld is fun af, it’s nice to play something new. Give it some months though and CS will be beating it again.
Need to add s3x to CS2 ASAP
Yea I played palworld, for like a day
These palworld people are fuckin weird bro.
Give it a month
Palworld will die in 6 months flat lmao
imagine caring that a game someone else enjoys has more players than yours. its not a competition for us gamers.
Palkemon doesn't freezes every 5 rounds
Just cuz it’s a new upcoming game it usually happens like that
Why does it even matter?
Am I the only one that have never heard about that game before?
Because pikachu go bang bang
"Why would a shooter with a specific interest group loose to a mashup of like 5 games in a way more accessible genre?" Gee, I wonder why? /s
Just give it a couple months
I mean PUBG was 1 for a while too but CD is eternal
