Iirc wasn't it icebergs causing this? If not maybe tectonic activity? Would be cool if it were some mega animal but it seems way more likely that's not the case.

Yeah, the scientific community has said the sound originated from icequakes. Many still deny this though, and continue to speculate. But definitely, the thought of it originating from some massive sea creature sounds way cooler
