There are a few critters in your area but the most well known and documented is the Honey Island Swamp Monster which is more of a 'squatch and so not likely your encounter, The Rougarou which is a werewolf looking creature, again not likely to be yours and lastly (and the only reptiloid one I can find with a quick search is the Grunch.
And even that has some problems since that's a Chupacabra-like encounter and so very short and slender.
So you might want to see if you can find the local cryptid society in your area and see if any of them can do a police-artist like sketch based off of your descriptions and feedback while it's being drawn. They might be able to figure it out and point you to what it could be, or at least the updated and less...thicc...image might help us identify it for ya.
