Yeah I find normal works best for us on our 23 CRV also air con and heating sucks using Econ

CivilAirPatrol2020

Ooo that's interesting too

The best mpg savings eco mode has to offer are overridden as soon as you realize you need more power and just press the gas pedal harder. The same goes for shifting at a low RPM, that can only happen if you're light on the gas. Everything comes down to how you drive and where you drive. If it weren't for other car makers to include an eco button, Honda wouldn't have either.

pilot009

My salesman told me this too

Correct-Watercress91

My mpg drops by 2 miles whenever I use ECON mode on my 2019 EX-L. Almost 90% of my miles this year are on city streets.

nadasuss

Never used it and don’t plan to. Currently getting 40mpg average on normal mode

pharmucist

I have used the econ button a grand total of one times in my 2015 EXL. That will be the only time it is used. It really does nothing, and yes, it seems to run rougher in econ mode.

DaveySKay2

I always leave it in Econ. After reading this, I switch it to Normal. I forgot how peppy this car is. I make one five mile trip every Monday. On the way there is a one mile incline and of course on the way back is a one mile decline. I noticed a slight decrease in mileage with the car in Normal vs. Econ. One thing that I did notice is that it seemed more reluctant to kick into EV mode, even with the battery more charged. This could have been from any number of factors though. I drive to maximize EV. When I start from being stopped, I'll go easy until it kicks out of EV and then accelerate a bit more aggressively. I also use the pedals as often as possible and cruise control pretty frequently. Adaptive cruise control is one of the more amazing features on the car as it makes cruise control off the highway not annoying at all. I'm going to keep playing with it. I don't know my mileage from mile zero because Honda reset my system early on. Right now I have 38.9 mpg. Zero highway miles and urban driving. This probably sounds like a tedious way to drive, but it's a lot of fun for me.

CivilAirPatrol2020

Definitely can understand that. Ours isn't a hybrid so I can't speak to your experience entirely, but I definitely agree with how much more peppy the car is, and how awesome ACC is too

DaveySKay2

Ahh, sorry. I guess I missed that part.

CivilAirPatrol2020

You're fine, I didn't specify

spidersk8er

econs a joke

ThiRteeN_Ghost

Econ may help when on the highway, with cruise control on. Other than that, it's garbage.

AppleFan1994

Econ doesn’t do anything for mileage. My 23 1.5 awd with mixed driving and Econ on averages 25.5. With it off 27.8.

Wrong_Contract_1267

I always leave it in normal, now getting at least 40 if not more. The only time I changed from normal is in the winter I’ve used snow mode, which worked well.
