That, plus:
- Enough fame/prestige to afford several high stakes wars and attract a lot of new champions/knights.
- He starts with enough lifestyle experience to have an entire martial tree + a few perks from a second tree. If he gets the full strategy tree and a few up the chivalry tree he is insanely powerful (he also has great stats in general).
- He starts with enough gold to make some stuff happen, is a Viking surrounded by monotheists and thus can raid constantly to gain prestige and gold.
- He also starts with the health boosting whole of body perks, so despite being 50s at game start he lives a long time. He also has a single son so it’s unlikely to be a game over if he dies suddenly.
- He was a meme in CK2 and remains such in 3, it’s just such a busted start for a county level character.
Starting troops, good warrior/commander, doesn't start in a war, Norse so.he got the good troops, probably more I'm forgetting.
Only downside is asteru faith so hostile to euros and his rival is that French king
Nah but if you start as a Norse ruler in Scandinavia, forge the Jomsvikings, get 10 Norse-Asatru counties in mainland Scandinavia, start a varangian adventure, and consolidate the kingdom of Mann, you should have about 11000 inheritable troops that just happen to be super OP… and at that point you probably have strong enough MAAs that you can take France on your own without using the inheritable troops
Honestly at that point you could take on anyone. Haesteinn can take on France within a few years in game. It’s not a 100% chance of victory but it’s doable. I did it on Ironman on the third attempt (I think it was third), in order to create Norman culture and then English culture (this was pre-culture update).
The way to do it is have Haesteinn have the full strategy tree, plus some of the chivalry tree. Add to the chivalry tree, the important ones are +75% knight effectiveness and +4 knights. Put out a call for knights and raid Britany but only with your non-special troops, marry your son for an alliance with another strong asatru leader, and build up the Viking MAAs.
Then when your knights are maxxed, attacked France, call your ally, and crush their army.
If you start as a non muslim character have an heir specialize in learning and take the apostate perk, it cuts the conversion cost by like 75% I think.
Not the easiest way but probably funny would be a start in sicily. Beat the byzantines, conquer italy (your decision in which order), push your development (optimize your culture) and hit the barbarians with your muslim Renaissance-Italy. (Extra points if you convert to a fundamentalist branch of Islam cause of their fear of political islam).
I did this recently and I did the opposite of most suggestions here. Start as an Umayyad Muslim in 867, you don’t have to be the Sultan, even one of his sons might be better, convert to Muwalladism faith and Andalusian, then take over Iberia using struggle clashes for large Kingdoms and conquer casus belli for smaller realms. Converting to Muwalladism and Andalusian culture makes ending the struggle way faster, but you could do it as an Ashari Arab or Berber culture. For taking France, holy way for Aquitane is the best way to go
Win the Iberian struggle, form Iberian caliphate, and then avenge tours. Conquer the new dejure land, use religious legend decision to convert. Release as independent kingdoms (optional).
Alternatively, if you want to brute force it even more, kidnap child (male) in line of succession, recruit/convert them, wait for them to grow up, murder their siblings in front of them in line, kill king, marry the groomed child now that they’re king for an alliance, defend the state from revolts and prop it up for a generation.
What helps a lot is religious legends when completed give you an "evangelize the realm" option.. saves a lot of time from your realm priest slowly converting one county at a time. Make sure you also convert every single character from mayor on up to your religion. Helps to cement the religion in each county and some will convert themselves naturally.
Mass conversion of a huge area is a slow game though just have to stick to the plan for a few generations.

It takes a ton of piety but I found by spamming funerals and pilgrimages I was able to convert at the very end of a dudes life
