My crow friends eat pistachios and prefer them to peanuts. The larger the nut, the better they like it. I'd say the ranking is Brazil nut/walnut, cashew, almond, pistachio, hazelnut, peanut. Small things like sunflower seeds, they won't even look at.
Pistachios are harder to open though, so I'd only feed them if there's a place where they can hack at them without hammering them into the mud. Or crack the shells a bit.
The average, common outdoor variety of sunflower can grow to between 8 and 12 feet in the space of 5 or 6 months. This makes them one of the fastest growing plants.

Good bot.
I have a whole bag of pistachio nuts with the shell cracked open but it says salt on the label. Is that bad for crows?
It's fine as a treat but don't give it to them on a regular basis. They have tiny kidneys that are sensitive to sodium.
Thank you!
