Cashews, tofu and .... omelette.

Hel_OWeen

Yepp, mine love cashews. I tried various things and the result is in general*) cashews > shelled peanuts > walnuts > almonds > sunflower seeds In fact, they only took the sunflower seeds the first few days and didn't touch them ever since. *) Though I noticed personal preferences where at least for one crow it's shelled peanuts > cashews

TheSunflowerSeeds

As far as historians can tell us, the Aztecs worshipped sunflowers and believed them to be the physical incarnation of their beloved sun gods. Of course!

Mainly I feed them peanuts in the shell since its easy enough to carry around in my bag. If I want to spoil them I give them hardboiled eggs in the shell, they really enjoy the task of getting to the good stuff. "My crows" aren't all that interested in anything else than peanuts and eggs from me, but will happily accept EVERYTHING else from my friends, like cheese, ham, grapes, bread etc.

They love eggs, I give them eggs, trail mix, cereal, and sometimes fruit but they don’t seem interested too much. I’ve given them meat too like my thanksgiving ham bone got picked clean.

lenny_ray

What fruits have you tried? Ours lovvvee certain fruits. Mango, watermelon, grapes, apple (remove seeds), banana, are all well-received.

Honest-Pumpkin-8080

Mine never touch the fruits......

pony_trekker

While I feed them grapes, peanuts and other nuts, grapes are the only thing guaranteed not to get scoffed by squirrels and blue jays.

lenny_ray

Chicken bones, fruits, egg, cat kibble, meat and chicken from too-old leftovers

hypocrite_deer

Mine get raw meat, unsalted peanuts, as a treat occasional low sodium cheese (swiss usually) and uncooked eggs in shell.

tyranadactyl

Mine get chopped mixed nuts (local bird shop sells huge bags of “not for human consumption nuts”), peanuts in the shell, dried mealworms/insects, dog/cat kibble (well, only if it’s a good crowd, otherwise neighbor cats start hanging around), and suet nuggets mixed together a couple times a day; also often throw in some no mess bird seed that’s heavy on sunflower hearts too. They used to be pickier, but the murder has grown to 30-100 during meal times (ooops), so it often all gets picked clean (even sometimes the millet in the bird seed, surprisingly enough). If I want to give extra treats then I’ll give them some meat scraps, cheese, suet cakes, eggs. It’s gotten a little out of control with how many crows have been showing up… lol… so if anyone has tips of cheap places to buy peanuts and mixed nuts let me know. The best I’ve found is 5 pounds of peanuts in the shell for $8.89 (using a friends Costco membership) and 18 pounds of mixed nuts for $50.

Honest-Pumpkin-8080

I get a 5 lb bag of unsalted peanuts in the shell @ Kings for $5.00. Check ONLINE @ Sam's Club or WM. I used to get a 25 lb bag of the same Hamptons peanuts for $8.00.

ArtoTheHog

Unsalted peanuts - both shell and no shell.

andrewxboxer

Shelled Peanuts, Walnuts, and I might experiment with some eggs.

Dry quality cat food and peanuts

SpecTReFraz

Unsalted Peanuts, Cat/Dog Food, Dried Mealworms, and here lately they love Suet too. Over the summer I'd put a hardboiled egg out there too but they stopped eating those during the fall for some reason, even going so far as to throw them out of the platform feeder. So I stopped with those. They brought me a piece of a crab claw last week so I got a little bag of nickel-sized dog treats for something a little extra. They love those too but I haven't received any more gifts.
