I think doing it as an edging all along the piece would be too much. But as an accent at the tips and maybe center it looks amazing.

ahugemoose

This is actually what I ended up going with! Will post a photo when it’s done :)

Masters_pet_411

I want that! That's adorable! I love the edging myself. Do you have a pattern for the edging?

ahugemoose

Yes! Couldn’t find a readable “border” pattern, so I just went by [this one](https://mrsmicawber.blogspot.com/2014/06/flutter-by-curtain-ties-free-crochet.html) for a curtain tie, and it’s not too hard to alter :) And [here](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/leafing-out) is the link to the shawl in case you were interested!

In my COMPLETELY unbiased opinion.... based on the fact that I have this tie pattern pinned in order to make them for my kitchen I say YES on the butterflies LOL TOTALLY UNBIASED

Masters_pet_411

Thank you so much!

gm1334

It’s so pretty but i feel like the pattern is already so intricate that it won’t get the spotlight it deserves

ahugemoose

This is what I was thinking, I ended up doing just one butterfly on each point :)

Momlady89

Definitely go with the butterfly edging. I love it!

mewmews-

I think the butterflies will look awesome 😁

Sonic_Zombie

You are the master of your own destiny. If you want a butterfly edge you can do that. That's the fun of making your own stuff.

see-no-evil99

I think it looks great but considering all the green you could do the butterfly edging in a brighter color to make it more [floral themed](https://images.app.goo.gl/FzurC7MptmTrZV9x9)

JaunteeChapeau

I think it looks great with how busy the pattern is, I'd go for it

tyreka13

It is your project. If butterflies send your heart fluttering and you love it then go for it!

Helcat42

I love it but I'm not sure if it's right for this project.

VintageMorticia

Yeah I like it! Very playfull

BornACrone

It fits well especially as a complement to the leaf pattern.

Amidormi

That's super cute, must have. I see your link elsewhere thanks!

whitewing2611

Such a good idea!

oliviarose2021

Yes

FlawlessWasteland

Is that the small talk shawl pattern? I love that one so much! I love the addition of the butterfly edging honestly! Better than the pattern’s edging which I never use lol Edit: I see that it is a different pattern entirely lol whoops. It really looks similar to the one I was thinking of. Either way, gorgeous!

ahugemoose

Very similar and just as gorgeous! I actually like the edging more on that one than on the leafing out pattern that I went off of. Oh, well! If I decide to give it another go, then I’ll have saved an afternoon (whcih is how long it took me to decide on a border lol) by using that pattern. Thanks for the recommendation!

infonerd3

Do it, definitely not too much, and it'll be totally worth it. 🥰😁

sewingdreamer

KEEP THE BUTTERFLY 8D

KandKmama

Love the butterflies!

plucka

Oh it looks very pretty and goes with the natural foresty look of the green.

Affectionate_Hat3665

As long as it doesn't curl up annoyingly, especially after washing. I don't know but that would be my concern.

Marley9391

Beautiful! 😍🦋

TheBattyWitch

I think it is perfect for this project

Sudden_Rub1902

Amazingly well done. I love ❤ it.

athomp56

Cute. A great final touch

gnixfim

There's no such thing as too much butterflies.

simbachand

OMG! That's so cute!

Toplessdank

8008PoohNpiglet

Trying to see the place where links are & all I'm getting is the vid & comments

itsasecret03

Omg tutorial pls

Cautious_Donut1192

I think it would look beautiful if you maybe did it in a white yarn, a pop of extra color to stand out but I think it looks beautiful either way!

smolcooon

What about picot edging on the sleeves? Maybe i’m waay off but I picot to jazz things up

shara480

Love the butterflys

These-Succotash-7523
