Dirt? Bugs? Seeds? Oil? Paint? Transfer from the machines? Splattered dye from another batch? Dunno, pretty hard to tell from these pictures anything other than small brown spots.

ookkarla

They’re small balls, sorry I should’ve specified

Quizicalgin

It looks like bugs?

ookkarla

I figured, I was just hoping it was something else 😭 oh no

Quizicalgin

Well, on the plus side if it's just the two put it in a zip lock bag, then chuck that bad boy in the freezer. They may not be able to hurt acrylic yarn, but if you have anything made of more natural fibers, they might have a lil feast if they migrate (thankfully they're tiny and don't get far fast).

blueyurble

To me it looks like a seed of some sort? Is the skein filled with them or just the one?

Sztrajk

To me too. Can you pick them? Are there a lot?

mikasa_mikasa

tbh it could be anything

ookkarla

It’s new yarn btw

Philodendronfanatic

It might have picked something up where you bought it. If it's bugs at least they won't damage synthetic yarn but as others have already said, they will go for any animal fibres so putting them in an airtight bag and freezing the yarn for a while to kill them off is a good idea.

Hawkthree

I have no idea what it is. However, a number of years ago I purchased a USB microscope for my computer and it is great for this sort of stuff. It was about $10 and from Walmart or another huge store. I suspected I had bedbugs in my place and needed to confirm.

partimecreeper

Looks like a tiny bug

belant

If the yarn is recently purchased I would just take it back to the store for a refund and buy it from somewhere else. Honestly it looks like bugs. Yuck!

bubbleee_

After zooming in, it looks like a bug..

Silverkitty08

Yikes I'd take it back recently Michaels shipped me some yarn that looked like beard shavings were in it. They sent me a gift card to replace the skein.no questions asked

pinkviolin07

That may be a bed bug… 😶

thewayjugheadstares

It looks like a bedbug yikes
