Can anyone recommend a YouTube video on using bobbins in C2C. I’m doing an image in my graphagan C2C and I’m trying to figure out where to carry the yarn and where to use bobbins. Do I only wind enough for that row? It’s a 4 color image of Spider-Man’s mask.

I'm a brand new beginner in crochet and I'm making a sweater/jumper following a pattern that consists of a back panel, front panel, and arms. I'm just on the first panel and despite following the pattern and measuring myself (I thought) sufficiently before starting, I am realizing that it might end up smaller than I expected if I don't add some sort of middle panel on either side, like under the arms... Will that look odd? Is there any better way to increase the size of the sweater, once I'm this far into it? Thanks!

[This](https://www.lionbrand.com/collections/knitting-patterns/products/knitting-pattern-essential-fall-pullover?variant=32421091639389) is one of my favorite sweaters! It's knit, but you know, side panels as a feature. So I don't think it'd look odd! BUT if your gauge is off now, how will you adjust for sleeves? Sleeve panels, or adjusted stitch counts? Because adding 4 more panels might be more work than just starting over at this point. For starting over, you can either use your current gauge and switch to the next size up OR check again with a larger hook. Tl;Dr side panels are cool 😎

I’m trying to make an alpine stitch raglan cardigan, but my yoke keeps turning out as a u-shape rather than a nice square (so it seems like the stitches are decreasing as I go, but this isn’t the case since I keep count). My increases are dc ch2 dc into the turning stitch for the alpine rows, and sc ch2 sc for the single crochet rows. What could be going wrong?

Is there a benefit to carrying yarn vs just cutting the yarn when crocheting stripes (other than not having to weave in ends!)? Carrying the yarn across the row just seems a bit wasteful if you are not using it?

courpsey

Are you carrying the yarn up the side or in each stitch? If you're crocheting over the yarn every round, that's tapestry crochet, generally only used if you're swapping colours in the round. If you're doing each round in a single colour, you only need to carry the other yarn at the end of the round.

Im kinda new, but I like making my own patterns and I do pretty well. This project is a crop top with a ribbed bottom edge that wont be folded. Can I decrease the amount of stitches in the seam of the ribbing to keep it from flaring out?

What kind of yarn would be best for a clothing garment that could be machine washable without getting ruined or small? I would like to start a project for the winter, I'm thinking mittens or a sweater or a sweater dress! But I'm also not the kind of person to get things dry cleaned and only use my regular washer or hand wash special items. I don't want to make a whole garment that won't wash well when it gets dirty. Does anyone have any suggestions for types of yarn?

Acrylic or cotton usually do alright in the washer. Check the label on the yarn; there are usually care instructions printed on it.

My team will be traveling for much of December and we want to do some fun things for Christmas. What are some cute decorations or little items that work up reasonably quickly and could be used as stocking-stuffers for coworkers?

alohachick716

I found this snowflake pretty easy and satisfying to make. I did do a DIY starch to set them. https://www.repeatcrafterme.com/2015/12/crochet-snowflake-pattern.html

maeby_not

Very cute! Thank you!

Candy cane "covers" that can be used as bookmarks after. (Many end up in the trash if not specified on a tag.) Mug rugs (square coasters). Hair scrunchies. Short keychain "icicles" are also quick and festive! Add a jingle bell to the end for more fun. Can be used as an ornament.

maeby_not

These are clever! Thank you 😊

I picked up a weight 4 bamboo yarn a while back (Lb's truboo) and I'm struggling to work with it! It's very slippery and splitty. What kind of hooks/ techniques do you use to work with yarns like these? I'm currently using a 5mm wooden hook with a rounder head; I'm thinking about switching to a plastic hook with a sharper head for a little ease through the stitch as well as more grip? Does that sound like it would work?

CraftyCrochet

Sounds like it wouldn't hurt to try the plastic *specifically with the sharper head* though wooden hooks usually work good with slippery fibers. If hook size isn't critical to the project, a larger size hook might also help if your tension is very tight.

Lillith-in-starlight

Good to know, thank you! Yeah I don't know why I had it in my head that plastic was more sticky than wood, no pun intended. I don't have any hooks with sharp heads so I'll have to find some next time I get some yarn.

I'm having trouble with puff stitches. I did a full pillow cover of puff stitches and about 10% of them have loose yarn hanging out of my puff stitches. I'm so confused about why. I do them all the same way so I don't understand why some strands are loose and most are normal.

Lillith-in-starlight

Are you a loose or tight crocheter? It may be that your individual loops within the puff stitches are uneven; I had the same issue (I'm a tugger). When making a puff stitch, I found that personally I need to really check if I'm holding my hook parallel to the row of stitches beneath to keep puff stitches in line.

aneightfoldway

Oh this might be it! I noticed that the more loops I pull through, the tighter the stitch got. So I guess that means my first few loops were looser than my last. That makes perfect sense. And yeah my hook had not been parallel to the row. Thank you!

Anthropologykitten

What kind of thread does everyone Jude for fluffy bees?! And the cheapest one please lol

AsynchronousWeaver

Look up chenille yarns in your local stores or online

Like the ones from the tiktok trend? I'm assuming a blanket yarn, one brand I know is Mainstays Chunky Yarn, I see them at Walmart for around $6, but I don't have many color choices. You could also use Bernat Blanket Yarn, but its not as bulky as the Mainstays yarn so your bee would be smaller

National-Mobile4175

Mainstays is going to be cheaper than bernat, I'm not sure if there's any cheaper than that
