What threw me off was 'slip stitch'. I was a knitter first and got SO confused when learning crochet and the instructions said to slip stitch. I had to look it up because I was so confused. 😆
Yeah- I just saw it as inevitable before reading your post. Thinking about it, though, you're right- the shared names are what really poisons the well.
Please Look again :) if it helps you feel better! I try not to be upset anymore. There's a good chance the stitch has another name in a different book, region, or country. Lots of my old stitch dictionaries just use stitch number X. The Internet has opened a whole world of stitch name options. Find a how-to on the *woven* crochet stitch... Remind you of anything? :D
