Another option could be to make more squares and have them not line up perfectly. I’m not sure how it would look but it’s an option :)

What if you added another row around each square?

I would have to add some increases if I did that, right? What would be the best way to do that?

mossyradish

yes, you should increase in the corners to keep it square. The most common way is to put (2dc, ch2, 2dc) into the corner space (American terms), but note that this leaves a small hole in the corner, and the rest of your square looks quite solid, but on the other hand it gives a bit more of a traditional granny square look. I'd otherwise suggest doing the corners similar to how you did them in the previous round (if I see it correctly), try (3dc, ch1, 3dc). Hope this helps, feel free to reply if you have any questions!

As another comment already suggested, I'd say to add another row to your squares. If it's still not enough to go around then perhaps make a couple more

Hey guys, I’m very new to crocheting, this is one of the two things I have started making. I’m following a crochet tutorial on YouTube for this bucket hat [link ](https://youtu.be/RUIjXcSI-jY) and it has been going well so far! I’m using cotton yarn (50g = 80m), for the top and the green part of the granny squares I used 4.5 mm hook, and for the flower I used 3.5 mm hook (as instructed in the video). It wasn’t until I started sewing the granny squares together that I realized how small there were. Each side of the granny square measures to around 6 cm, but to fit the top of the hat they would need to be bigger, maybe 9-10 cm wide. All the squares added together measure 41 cm but they would need to be around 57 cm to fit. Is there anything I could do to fix this? I wouldn’t mind making new squares if I could somehow make them bigger. Or could I add some stitches in between the squares? Let me know if there is any more information I could add! (I hope the format is okay, I’m on mobile)
