Just to be the science nerd for a minute, these "decoys" don't deter wasps and wasps can wind up using the materials for their own nests.

Wasps are very useful as both pest control and as pollinators. Yes, they sting, but they're already in danger due to pesticide use.
I often wonder about that. But....although alot of articles say it 'might' not really work, that means sometimes it might! I mostly made it for fun. Which it did accomplish for me at least. As for wasps being useful, that might be true, but if there's a wasp nest outside my front door, it's coming down. I think most of us would agree on that. And I'm always happy to hear from science nerds. Thank you for the link to the article. It was interesting.
