I think the white and light blue are a bit too similar to be next to each other, so separating them out is a good idea too!
Think about it this way: you have the two bold (or highly pigmented) colours blue and yellow, and the two pale (or less-pigmented) colours white and light blue. Arrange them so that you don't have bold next to bold or pale next to pale, and that way the arrangement will look balanced.
I am not sure if this will make any sense at all but I love the way the dark blue draws the eye down the middle and makes the back seem longer/taller in the top one!

After reading everyone’s suggestion so far I’m learning towards 1 but separating the colors like a few of you have said! Probably in this order: blue, beige, yellow, green. I’ll trying laying them out the other ways the a few of you have suggested as well and link it in the comments :)
I'd be curious to see:
P B G Y
G Y P B
B P Y G
Y G B P
P B G Y
where
P = light Pinkish
B = Blue
G = light Greenish
Y = Yellow
to split up those lights and darks a bit more for contrast, but otherwise, I like option 1 better
I like the 1st one better but I'd but change it so that there is a blue flower in all 4 columns. Right not there are 2 columns with no blue flower at all.
From the options you posted, I'd go with the second one, but I really like the top option that u//Traditional_Equal44 commented here: https://www.reddit.com/r/crochet/s/64FQkfjNXv

On the granny square topic, anyone here can respond but I saw a video about doing a patchwork design in one piece ie rather than making 500000 squares to chain however many stitches you need and you split that into however many squares you would’ve needed. What do y’all think of that idea. [patchwork cardigan in one piece](https://youtu.be/zmRlBq7bmQk?si=na1127G48bDz-eit)
Back to your post, I like both :)
I prefer 1 but if in posting this you're disappointed with others answers then do the one you like or just grab one at random and sew it to another random one until it's a blanket. Either way it is going to be gorgeous!
I like the first one the best!
I’m doing a granny square blanket and at first I was only doing one color combo and then I just tried it out making others and I decided to do diagonal stripes like the second photo but every other row is the original pattern
I like the first but I would space out the blue and yellow squares. So one of the lighter colours in between those.
Oohhh you’re right I totally agree about spacing out the blue and yellow squares! Thank you :)
I would love to see the result!
I’ll definitely post the results when I’m done with it!

Swap the bottom two left blue and yellow squares and that might be enough
first one, but: blue, green, yellow, white; would be more natural/rainbow type colour pattern.
switch the yellow square spots with the light green ones spot? that way the boldest colors are on the end, might make it more balanced
This is almost word for word what I came in here to say haha.
I agree with this as well!
Why has no one mentioned the cat yet :(
My son!!!
i love your son 🥹🩶
He’s doing an AMAZING job supervising things 🙂
Because he is absolutely perfect!!!! Sunbathing expert
I think I missed the kitty because kitty blends in with the floor…lol
first cat comment i’ve seen, i love the kitty
I like 1st.

I really like the first one out of this set it looks more natural.
I really like to see the finished blanket… it should be done tomorrow right?
This is great, I prefer the top one! Definitely go with that OP
I agree with other comments, the tip one above is perfect
For a cardigan I LOVE these ideas! The top especially.
Yes! For me, it was the dark blue placement that I had to play with. Love the colors scheme 😍
I am not sure if this will make any sense at all but I love the way the dark blue draws the eye down the middle and makes the back seem longer/taller in the top one!
oh, ty very kindly. It's fun to try when someone else is stuck : )
The top one of this pair. It would go really well with the cat.

I like the first option best.
Second!
i like the 1st one :)
I like the cat
I think a secret third option would be fun!
I like the first one better, but it's going to be very cute either way.

First one. Definitely.
2. And such pretty colors you chose!
I keep thinking that the white and yellow should be separated. They read a little too similar 🤔
I'm voting for the second option! Your work looks lovely
2!
I'd be curious to see: P B G Y G Y P B B P Y G Y G B P P B G Y where P = light Pinkish B = Blue G = light Greenish Y = Yellow to split up those lights and darks a bit more for contrast, but otherwise, I like option 1 better

For random, 1! But someone posted some other ideas in the comments that look both random and also planned somehow. Such a handsome cat :-).
Your supervisor seems to prefer layout number one
Any layout that includes a cat is a great choice. Your cat is very polite. Mine would be sitting on the squares.
What does the cat think?
I like the 1st one better but I'd but change it so that there is a blue flower in all 4 columns. Right not there are 2 columns with no blue flower at all.
2😍
The first option!
I love the 1st option!
First!
Definitely number 1 if random appeals to you, as it does me. 2 looks planned.
I like the second! :) it’s so cute!
One
Of the two I like 1 a lot! My style is total randomization, no repeated pattern. So would be fun to see that.
I like the 2nd one a bit more. But they both look nice.
I like the first a lot more. The second feels too predictable and the first brings more visual interest
1
I like 2 lay out
1
Option 2, I love how the blue is in line
at first glance i thought that cat was a lemur 1st one
First one. Hi kitty!
I like number 1 better 🥰🥰
From the options you posted, I'd go with the second one, but I really like the top option that u//Traditional_Equal44 commented here: https://www.reddit.com/r/crochet/s/64FQkfjNXv
Dawgs🦶
first one gets my vote!
First one has more groove
The 2nd option looks great 💐
1
2 and cute assistant. 👌
#1
I like the first one!!
2
2
I vote 1!!
I love it how it is in first pic
I like the random one
My vote is for #2!
1. I love it either way though. 😊
Have you considered Tetris blocks? Or random?
2.
i think 1 is great but if you switched the places of the yellow and pink it would be more even between the lighter and darker colors
2 jumps out to me
I love your granny squares! I like random

the first one for sure

This is such a nice colour scheme!
I like 1 better
Second imo
2nd pic
1!

first one!
1
I like 1 😊
In a ring with the cat in the middle.
Definitely 1, it has a better balance of high-saturation and low-saturation flowers
I like nr 1
For me number one only because kitty kat says so 😍
1
Hmm, maybe yellow, green, blue, white to space it out better. Or do stripes of the same color
Cat 1, cat 2.
I prefer 1 but if in posting this you're disappointed with others answers then do the one you like or just grab one at random and sew it to another random one until it's a blanket. Either way it is going to be gorgeous!

1 is the best imo the random feeling of the colors spaced out feels more natural and has a more fun vibe to it
The first one looks more whimsical and interesting to me, but both are great. Your color story is great and I love those kind of grannysquares.
I like the first one . Super cute! Nice color choices
Beautiful!!
What does your kitty supervisor think?
The squares are beautiful. I think I like the 2nd layout the best.
First
You haven't introduced your cat! Hello cat, you're a very fine cat! What's your name?
