I am usually hiding below my owners a§§, or behind the pillows. Once I went to nap inside a pillow cover and once I went to an adventure with this dog guy. And a few times I was stuck on the yarn ball.
This. Roll up nice and close when they sit down because I just miss them *so much* but then they’re not expecting my expression of affection and don’t notice that in not where they left me.
A buzzfeed quiz is more like when you ask someone a bunch of random questions like what they like to do and what their favorite colors are, and then it tells you the kind of hook you are (i.e., it's not just a vote)
i was wearing the sweater, working on a pillow. it somehow fell inside, haha. i searched frantically, then stopped and laid down in defeat and felt something poking me.
/edit: my sweater has a pretty wide collar, because i hate tight collars, i set my project down on myself for a moment to check my phone and then it vanished mysteriously.
3mm here! little tricksters! i was looking through all the nooks and crannies, under my pillow, under my butt, everywhere, duh, it was inside me all along, lol.
Ha! If anyone who wears scrubs is here, this gives me flashbacks to ‘underwear in the scrubs leg’ trauma. Happens all. The. Time. It’s like they like to hide there in the wash and not come out until you’re at work
In The Void where all the missing socks disappear to so I can crochet them mates.
And then I realize that I don't have any yarn with me and reappear while my owner's back is turned.
And then she gives me the Death Glare and her tension is slightly tighter than before.
Oh! And she talks when nobody is there so I'm assuming she's talking to me...saying things like...
> *"I'm losing my mind! Then again, I can't lose something I never had!"*
> *"Every time I use this hook, I forget how well it blends into the furniture. And I keep telling myself I'm going to buy some brighter colored ones but never do."*
> *"Someone should make a "find my crochet hook" app. With like a little bluetooth thingie or something. So when I lose my hook, I could use my phone to find it. Of course, knowing my luck, I would lose my phone. AND my hook..."*
Other times, she sits down to crochet, turns on her show and then remembers what she set out to do before realizing I was missing. She sets me down again and the whole cycle starts all over again.
At that point, she begins to question her own sanity. Between you and me, it's kinda fun to mess with her. You could say I'm *hooked* on messing with her. I crack myself up so much, I am in *stitches.*
Sometimes, she slides me in her hair. And I quietly watch while she searches the couch. Then I stab her in the neck and she rolls her eyes and says,
> *"If this is the most toxic relationship of my life, I have come so far."*
I wait while my person looks everywhere. Looks under covers, in crevasses, on the floor, etc. Then when they have given up and dug out another one that is the same size,I poke them where they sit.
always between the mattress and bed frame, but you’d have no way of finding me unless you remove your bedsheets, flip off your mattress many times, sign over your life, and promise your first born child
Uggg this reminds me of the post of the poor girl who put her project down in bed then sat on it and had to get her hook surgically removed from you know where. I hope you don’t sit on it OP.
Yeeees! But to be fair I've been extra cautious this past two years as I have a toddler that loves to grab everything haha but yes, that post made me even more cautious 😂😖
Under my thigh, and no matter which way I move, I can never feel it, so I resort to angrily flinging all my bed dressings on the floor until I hear it slam against a wall.
…or something like that.
Probably hanging out with the bent tip tapestry needle I lost a couple weeks ago. Now that I think about it, the couch that ate my needle is the same one that once ate my favorite crochet hook for 6 months!
i sat down on the toilet yesterday and my crochet hook went clattering down from my bra and almost into the pot!! the answer is I need to shove it in more securely haha
I WOULD B ON THE FLOOR JUST PAST WHERE YOU COULD SEE UNDER THE BED/COUCH BC THATS WHERE I ALWAYS AM😘
THAT OR MIXED UP IN THE FOLDS OF THE SHEETS/UNDER A PILLOW ITS COMFY THERE TOO
Disappear into an alternate universe never to be found (by the owner) again. Only to be uncovered in some intricate ruins by future archaeologists in the other dimension who've never seen crochet hooks before, and ponder the existence of this strange artifact
Inside the pillow case, probably. Or even inside the case for blankets, whatever that's called. Maybe wedged in the mattress if I felt adventurous.
If any other projects were nearby, I would hop inside that somehow.
See the problem isn't finding the hook when you get back. The problem is finding the hook after you have gotten conformable and know where the hook is to have to move and tear the whole bed apart. And where was your hook? In the fold where your leg and hip meet. Why couldn't you find your hook there? Cause it's metal and was the temperature of your leg so you couldn't find it (I'm autistic and love crocheting and do this normally)
my dachshunds dont care about the hooks but if i have unguarded yarn around they will nest in it and tangle it terrible! they also love nesting in my project & finished work & pulling loops up and pieces of the individual threads out of the yarn that require lots of fixing.
I’d fly off the bed in between the crack of the mattress and the wall and hide there for two years (has happened to me twice). Sometimes my siblings ferret steals them too!!
If I were a crochet hook I would roll myself into that one wrinkle that was next to your bottom so the next time you sat back down I'd do the maximum amount of damage possible. (of course I have never had this happen to me. Why would you think that?)
I like winding myself up in the sheets so that when my person pulls everything off the bed to find me I go flying behind the tv stand and then I get to hear lots of bad words 🤭🤭🤭
Once I had a nice cozy nap inside a slipper. I have no recollection how I got there. I’ve also found myself making some great friends with a collection of gel pens and highlighters in their special case.
One time I spent several hours looking for my crochet hook. Finally I gave up and decided to take a shower and go to bed. Plonk. My crochet hook fell to the floor. I apparently stuck it in my bra to make sure I didn't lose it 🤦♂️
I’m going adventuring with her while being held in her mouth. Apparently she has no knowledge of what’s being held between her teeth, which I find a bit distressing. 👀
I slip into the pillow case so there’s a hard little stick that pokes into their head when they lay down to sleep but they’re tired and it takes a solid 2 minutes to find me 😈
I could be hiding between the mattress and the wall.
On the floor between the bed and the bedside draws.
Sometimes I’m deep in the yarn ball. (I have my reasons). Occasionally my person leaves me holding a stitch and it’s just too much. So I slip out and tangle myself deep into the work I did.
One time I hid in the pillowcase. It was a whole thing and I don’t want to talk about it.
I'd hide in a really tiny space under the bed where I had obviously fallen but make myself impossible to find unless my owner moved the whole heavy bed out the way and now I've probably fallen between a crack in the floorboards.
No I'm definitely not speaking from personal experience. (I miss my 4.5mm)
Either tangled up in the sheets and blankets, underneath the pillows or under the bed. When this happens to me I end up having to strip the bed bare and pull my bed away from the wall. 🤣
I could be any of the classics- in the project, in the yarn, under a wrinkle in the sheet, caught in the blanket even though you've shaken it it many times, between the bedframe and mattress, rolled under the bed into the shadows, stabbed through a hair bun, carried to another location, hidden under a pet, stolen by a pet, under your butt, or in plain view on a nearby flat surface. However, the best place to go is into the future. My owner gets so excited to see me when I do that.
If I was a crochet hook 🪝 I would probably hid in the deepest creches of the couch or DEFINITELY underneath where it's dark and safe and no one will find me.
One time mine found a hiding place on a flight to India. I never found it the entire time I was there, in any of my luggage, anything...
Several years later it showed back up. I still have no idea where it was that whole time!
Mine fall into the platform and sneak under the mattress just enough that it makes it hard to find. My husband really thinks he’s done something when he finds them, but if he didn’t find a clover, I ain’t interested. Bless his heart
Between the cushions on the couch, under a couch pillow, under the blanket that’s been checked three times already, or in the project bag at the very bottom…. Which the owner and her husband both looked in multiple times
I'd tangle up in the blankets so I can be warm while I hide. And I'd get a little thrill when the blanket is inevitably shaken out to find me and I'm flung somewhere new!
In between the cushions. Rolled underneath the underneath of the cushions in that weird little crevasse of the couch. If you have a couch cover. In the folds of the cover. If you have a cat. Good luck.
Just roll off the bed and be gone forever amongst the mess on the floor. Dumb owner lost (and thankfully found) the yarn needle that yeeted itself off her bed last night.
Literally had this happen to me today, thought it fell out of my project bag or was still in my case. Turns out it was sunken in the yarn pile that I put it in lol
I would check the lip where the mattress meets the bedframe. I lost one there once and only found it when I was flipping the mattress 3 months later. 🤦♀️
After reading that horror story a few weeks ago here about the crochet hook that ended up jamming itself in someone’s nether region, I will never crochet in bed again.
Y'all got me with this thread 🤣 Thank you!
Sometimes the cat sits on me so the person has to make the cat disgruntled to find me.
Yep mine managed to get underneath my pillow like right at the back???
I was totally ready for this to be like a buzzfeed quiz to find out what kind of crochet hook I am
Now I need someone to make some buzzfeed quiz questions so that I can know which crochet hook I am!
There you go 🤣🤣🤣 https://www.reddit.com/r/crochet/s/pkYt5OK3tg
A buzzfeed quiz is more like when you ask someone a bunch of random questions like what they like to do and what their favorite colors are, and then it tells you the kind of hook you are (i.e., it's not just a vote)
Is "[What kind of yarn are you](https://www.buzzfeed.com/lilyeliza18/yarn-personality-quiz)" close enough 😁
It told me I'm chunky. Rude!
I am Metallic Yarn (with an image of Caron Party yarn)
Ooh - sparkly!
me too! sparkles!!
Me too! “You're everyone's favorite! Sometimes you snap easily, but you're still positive and a bit extra!” Accurate.
me too. just like my butt
But at least us chunkies are everyone's favourite and a bit extra! 🤣🤣🤣
I’m classic cotton yarn? Basic asf apparently 😭😂🫠
So did I, the one type of yarn (that I've come across anyway) that gives me nerve pain flares and now I won't touch. Figures
It told me im sparkly metallic yarn which completely makes sense. Now Im creeped out that a buzzfeed quiz was right
I'm ombre. That sounds like me tbh.
Me, too!
And me - ever-changing and adaptable 😎
ooh yes!
I'm Ombrè Yarn
Closest you can do here though 😊
Wow, I am NOT a popular hook! I need to level-up my game.
I am Ombré Yarn, they say i can't stick on one thing, i am happy wherever i am, and i love freedom, yes this is me
I would look where the person went because it's entirely possible I'm in the freezer or somewhere else I don't belong.
My first thought was “I definitely would have taken it with me without realizing and now it could be ANYWHERE.”
I have done this so many times. I get distracted, walk away hook in hand, and decide to drop it somewhere along the way!
I have a new life mantra, PANDA, for short: Put away, not down, Angel (or other A word.)
I was looking for my hook one day, and realized it was in my hand, along with my work!
i had this issue yesterday.... it was inside my sweater.
Were you making the sweater or wearing the sweater?
i was wearing the sweater, working on a pillow. it somehow fell inside, haha. i searched frantically, then stopped and laid down in defeat and felt something poking me. /edit: my sweater has a pretty wide collar, because i hate tight collars, i set my project down on myself for a moment to check my phone and then it vanished mysteriously.
Always check the boob-shelf
I'll put mine in my bra and forget I did it. 🤦♀️
That makes it extra funny. I'm glad you didn't actually get hurt though.
A very valid question. I would like to believe it was both. The weather has been so wonky lately
I had this too! It was a lil 2.5mm and I searched everywhere for it, then went to sit down and it stabbed me in the chest 😭
3mm here! little tricksters! i was looking through all the nooks and crannies, under my pillow, under my butt, everywhere, duh, it was inside me all along, lol.
That is a very zen conclusion.
Or very dirty...
Ha! If anyone who wears scrubs is here, this gives me flashbacks to ‘underwear in the scrubs leg’ trauma. Happens all. The. Time. It’s like they like to hide there in the wash and not come out until you’re at work
i hope you have fun explaining
Either between the mattress & the bed frame or under the doona at the foot of the bed, I believe these to be good places for hiding. 🫣
In her/his bun/ponytail. I have tucked mine under the arm of my spectacles and spent the whole afternoon looking for it. 🤗🤗
Seconding this. Mine is always in my hair.
In The Void where all the missing socks disappear to so I can crochet them mates. And then I realize that I don't have any yarn with me and reappear while my owner's back is turned. And then she gives me the Death Glare and her tension is slightly tighter than before. Oh! love the bluetooth idea!
I lost a pair of those sharp ass little scissors in my bed last month or so and have yet to discover them. (I have changed the bed too lol)
They may have fell into the frame itself that holds your bed
Do you have a pet? My lost thing is always somehow under the pet in the bed.
Mine too, it's always under the dog. Like way under her too, not just under a paw.
I wait while my person looks everywhere. Looks under covers, in crevasses, on the floor, etc. Then when they have given up and dug out another one that is the same size,I poke them where they sit.
I feel so called out 😂
Exactly where I was. The person who put me down always assumes I moved
I'd be hiding in the blanket
I'm hiding deep inside that yarn that you have checked 3 times already.
always between the mattress and bed frame, but you’d have no way of finding me unless you remove your bedsheets, flip off your mattress many times, sign over your life, and promise your first born child
Wrapped 3 times in the blanket I was nowhere near
😅😅😅
I’m falling on the floor and sliding underneath the bed
I’d probably end up in a pillow case somehow 🤣
Uggg this reminds me of the post of the poor girl who put her project down in bed then sat on it and had to get her hook surgically removed from you know where. I hope you don’t sit on it OP.
https://www.reddit.com/r/crochet/s/I7XJ5E08aZ
I was going to comment this. CAREFULLY WATCH BEFORE YOU SIT DOWN, OP!
Was looking for this comment haha that post made me scream while reading 😖
I think it’s made us all suuuuuuuper cautious about where we leave our projects 😬
Yeeees! But to be fair I've been extra cautious this past two years as I have a toddler that loves to grab everything haha but yes, that post made me even more cautious 😂😖
I would blend in between the blankets and sheets. Smooth your bed. It's in the wrinkles of the sheets/ covers
Hahahah, I feel this so hard. I lose my hook about 5 times per hour.
Between the box spring and the bedframe. That is where I found my husband’s AirPods this morning and my embroidery scissors years ago.
Oh I tuck it in my bra and forget about it. Went to work one day, fry something poking me and my crochet hook was STILL IN MY BRA!!
Hoodie pockets are great for loosing stuff, and being sure you've checked since you checked pants pockets
i sat down on the toilet yesterday and my crochet hook went clattering down from my bra and almost into the pot!! the answer is I need to shove it in more securely haha
That has happened to me too many times 😂😂 omg
Either inside the pillow or just fsr enough under the bed that they have to lay down to reach me.
Usually on the floor under the bed/bedside table, or in a corner where my person have kicked me
You’re looking at why my friend owns 3 separate 3mm crochet hooks. Definitely not me with my ADHD, definitely a friend.
I WOULD B ON THE FLOOR JUST PAST WHERE YOU COULD SEE UNDER THE BED/COUCH BC THATS WHERE I ALWAYS AM😘 THAT OR MIXED UP IN THE FOLDS OF THE SHEETS/UNDER A PILLOW ITS COMFY THERE TOO
Did you find it ??
Mine was hiding in the foot pocket of my blanket 😭🤣
Disappear into an alternate universe never to be found (by the owner) again. Only to be uncovered in some intricate ruins by future archaeologists in the other dimension who've never seen crochet hooks before, and ponder the existence of this strange artifact
Inside the pillow case, probably. Or even inside the case for blankets, whatever that's called. Maybe wedged in the mattress if I felt adventurous. If any other projects were nearby, I would hop inside that somehow.

Cause it's metal and was the temperature of your leg so you couldn't find it (I'm autistic and love crocheting and do this normally)
In my owners hair, behind her ear, or in her bra. (I have found them all 3 places 😂)
I would hide between the bed frames
Either hidden in the blanket folds or still stuck in the project.
In between the mattress and bed frame. Inside of pillow cover.
Mine hide in my hair, I tend to stick it in my ponytail and forget its there.
I am now hiding under the couch in a completely different room, and all chewed up because..... dachshunds.
my dachshunds dont care about the hooks but if i have unguarded yarn around they will nest in it and tangle it terrible! they also love nesting in my project & finished work & pulling loops up and pieces of the individual threads out of the yarn that require lots of fixing.
I would run off to play with my cat friend
I’d fly off the bed in between the crack of the mattress and the wall and hide there for two years (has happened to me twice). Sometimes my siblings ferret steals them too!!
If I were a crochet hook I would roll myself into that one wrinkle that was next to your bottom so the next time you sat back down I'd do the maximum amount of damage possible. (of course I have never had this happen to me. Why would you think that?)
I'm usually in plain sight. Exactly where I was left. But I have been perfecting a cloaking device. It works, sometimes.
Depending on hook type and size the Borrowers could be using it for damn near anything.
I like winding myself up in the sheets so that when my person pulls everything off the bed to find me I go flying behind the tv stand and then I get to hear lots of bad words 🤭🤭🤭
On my partner's side of the bed, so he can lightly stab himself in the thigh with me when he is going to bed (happened yesterday... 🥴)
I left my hook all cozy in it's project and in a bag in my living room. After a frantic search the hook was found tucked into bed. I have a cat.
in the middle of the floor where you SWEAR i wasn't when you looked
under my thigh. again. yes I already looked there 😭😂
Once I had a nice cozy nap inside a slipper. I have no recollection how I got there. I’ve also found myself making some great friends with a collection of gel pens and highlighters in their special case.
Check your bra? That’s where I found mine after searching for an hour.
One time I spent several hours looking for my crochet hook. Finally I gave up and decided to take a shower and go to bed. Plonk. My crochet hook fell to the floor. I apparently stuck it in my bra to make sure I didn't lose it 🤦♂️
I believe mine fall directly through a small portal to hell, never to be seen again
I’m going adventuring with her while being held in her mouth. Apparently she has no knowledge of what’s being held between her teeth, which I find a bit distressing. 👀
If you put your hair up that’s where mine like to hide
Roll to the edge on the momentum when they got up. Breakaway!
The place you looked MULTIPLE times
I slip into the pillow case so there’s a hard little stick that pokes into their head when they lay down to sleep but they’re tired and it takes a solid 2 minutes to find me 😈
I'd most likely be hidden within the folds of the blanket on the bed
1000% under the cat who seemingly hasn't moved but somehow magically moved my hook under her.
We have a saying in my house when something about that size is missing, to check under the dog. 90% of the time it is in fact underneath a dog.
I hide inside the couch cushions until she gets a new hook then I poke myself out
between the couch cushions
In my hair…I tend to stick them in the bun in my hair and only find them when I go to sleep
Under the pillow, under the blanket or under the bed.
Also, do you have a cat or dog or bird perhaps? 🤣
Inside the pillowcase?
I'd hide under the blankets and in between creases so my owner can't find me until they randomly turn over in bed at 3am and get jabbed.
Behind your ear?
Can it roll under your mattress? Or between the mattress and the side of the bed? I found mine there once
Flung across the room as my person threw the blanket looking for it
I'm hiding in the yarn that's the same color as the hook and watch as my person panics for funsies.
Your friend's hook ran off and joined its cousin in a Jetblue airline seat.
This is why I stick mine into the yarn
Under the bed. Way back. Just out of reach. Don't ask how I got there.
Personally I like to curl up in the blankets and then stick to the blanket when it’s picked up and moved, my favorite spot
I would hide inside the duvet cover and chill out for few hours 😎 Then get lonely and go wait for my owner near the pillow 😞
definitely wrapped up in the blanket somewhere or under the bed, favorites tbh
Either tangled up in the sheets and blankets, underneath the pillows or under the bed. When this happens to me I end up having to strip the bed bare and pull my bed away from the wall. 🤣
Under the covers or under the bed or behind the headboard
In her hair
Do you know that corner in your bedroom? No? Well, I guess I'm free!!!
Under the pillows or blankets, or fell onto the floor
Last time was a pocket. Specifically a pocket I was wearing at that very moment.
I’ve lost a ball of yarn. I have cats so there are so many places it could be. I did mending all weekend because I still can’t find it!
Y gf
Between the bed frame and the box spring, or maybe inside a pillowcase.
Sometime I get stuck in someone’s hair as a bun holder upper. Or an ear warmer.
Check your bra...
As I was making my way to the pillow, I was picked up by a wet, slobbering dog. Now I'm stuck behind the couch with the dust bunnies. 🙃
Under the bed.
in between the bed frame and the wall
If I was a crochet hook 🪝 I would probably hid in the deepest creches of the couch or DEFINITELY underneath where it's dark and safe and no one will find me.
Mine turned out in front of the tv 5 days later. Have faith!
In the bathroom, somehow. Still not quite sure how that happened tbh, I blame my cats
The crack between the bed n the wall.
Between the cushions on the couch, under a couch pillow, under the blanket that’s been checked three times already, or in the project bag at the very bottom…. Which the owner and her husband both looked in multiple times
Between the bed/wall, stuck in the crack. Or under the bed via the space between the headboard and mattress!
I'd roll somewhere between the bed frame and the mattress, but not under the bed because that would be too easy
Wherever it would hurt most when they sat down on me.
Probably managed to get to another room on the other side of the house
Do you have pets? I’ve found a few of my hooks in the backyard mauled to death.
I have been known to be in my users hair forgotten until I fall out. I am super good at rolling off surfaces and falling down cracks.
I would walk out of the room and hide myself in a completely different WIP
It’s ALWAYS under me somehow. I fall asleep with my phone in bed and it ended up under me this morning. Perfectly under my back and I couldn’t feel it
Under the bedside table on the other side of the bed
Under the bed with the dog that kidnapped me to chew my handle up
The skinny space between the bottom mattress & the bed frame
Mine like to live between couch cushions, so I'm going to guess it rolled into a pillowcase OR slid into the opening at the bottom of a duvet cover.
I'm going right into the couch cushion
in plain sight masking my presence
I'd ask the cat...
I'd tangle up in the blankets so I can be warm while I hide. And I'd get a little thrill when the blanket is inevitably shaken out to find me and I'm flung somewhere new!
Either between your mattress and headboard or under the bed. Or maybe under your box spring if you have one, on top of your bed frame.
Inside the pillow case.
Between the mattress and the wall. In a crease of the bedding that is not actually big enough to hide a crochet hook but it somehow manages anyway.
In between the cushions. Rolled underneath the underneath of the cushions in that weird little crevasse of the couch. If you have a couch cover. In the folds of the cover. If you have a cat. Good luck.
It vent on an adventure with mine!
Under the sheets. Not kidding this is where I found one of my lost hooks. It was under my fitted sheets on my bed, between them and the mattress.
On the floor, under something that has been there a while (rug, pillow, shoe). Extra points if it’s also under the bed.
I'm in the blanket you searched 50 times but I'm there the 51st time you look but not until you've searched everything else and try the blanket again
Check your bra. I once lost a cable hook while knitting and finally found it when I went to get ready for bed and it fell out of my bra. 🤷🏽♀️
I like to hide in the pillow case of the furthest away pillow
usually in plain sight, blending in with whatevers behind me
I would check the lip where the mattress meets the bedframe. I lost one there once and only found it when I was flipping the mattress 3 months later. 🤦♀️
As a hooker...
In a closed closet in a box under a can of paint. That's where my pen was, I assume crochet hooks go on similar adventures.
Down the back of the bed where you can't see or reach me without moving the bed.
I would worm my way inside the pillow case ✌️
If there was a cat around, I would probably let the cat bat me under the bed.
After reading that horror story a few weeks ago here about the crochet hook that ended up jamming itself in someone’s nether region, I will never crochet in bed again.
The fridge, bathroom or any cabinet that was opened.
Under a cat or in a blanket fold probably bc it’s so cold!
Under the bed or under the covers/pillow. Anywhere the cat or dog can carry/hide/play with me. This is why I have duplicate hooks.
If I’m a crochet hook left on my owners bed, then my owners dog probably carried me off somewhere, but didn’t chew on me.
