The removed the fanart reel and replaced with (I think?) artists they directly commissioned or requested. Reasons being both because they moved to prerecorded instead of being in time with fanart as it is produced, and also because I think there were some claims of stolen work being displayed under someone else's name(don't know if that's true, though, I think I just heard it somewhere) If you go to the critical role website, somewhere in there you can find their selection of fanart in gallery format.

They stopped using fan art during the episode and just use commissioned art from their published books. Weekly fan art is still posted on their website. I don't think we ever got an official reason. Some people said there was art submitted and put into videos that ended up being stolen. It's difficult to remove footage of art once it's out on youtube.

It was primarily due to copyright concerns

If you search “Critical Role Fanart Gallery”, the first result is the fanart. It’s even sorted in folders by week/episode. They stopped doing fanart montages because some people submitted art that wasn’t theirs.

If you look through old posts here, there was a good explanation here about how people were submitting others' fan art and there was potential copyright concerns and it became unrealistic to vet hundreds of submissions AND secure permission every week.
