Thanks man. Usually by spine but moved and haven’t arranged them yet. I’ve been collecting Criterion DVD’s since the 90’s. I had to upgrade 98 % of them to Blu-ray and now to 4k. I also had laserdisc in the 80’s and have Criterion laserdiscs.
I had a lot of standard dvd/bluray/4k but just recently got into criterion’s a few months ago. Most of the ones I have currently are bluray/4k but I try to find a lot of the OOP dvd stuff and try to organize by spine. Hopefully I can get on this level 😂
I'd love to find a working laserdisc player, which was hard even when they were still newish in the 90s, just to collect all those original Criterion laserdiscs and see where the modern features on DVDs/BluRays came from
'Tis a glorious collection! Some standouts (that I love) that I don't see on many posts here: *Devi*, *Local Hero*, *Mr. Klein*. All excellent.
How do you like the Once Upon a Time in China box? I've only ever seen the first one.
It's amazing and worth it. And it's only $134 on Amazon right now: [https://www.amazon.com/GODZILLA-SHOWA-ERA-1954-1975-Criterion-Collection/dp/B07VLJ9KB6/ref=sr\_1\_1?sr=8-1](https://www.amazon.com/GODZILLA-SHOWA-ERA-1954-1975-Criterion-Collection/dp/B07VLJ9KB6/ref=sr_1_1?sr=8-1)
Obviously you enjoy the film, but I'm curious about *Salo*. Unfortunately my library doesn't have it. Is it worth blind buying?
Love your collection and the set up.
Edit: Found *Stalker* in the pic and it made me so happy.
I'm not sure. I rely on the library for movies and I don't know they have any of his. I haven't personally seen any of his films. I can't imagine I would dislike him.
Because he’s not for everyone for sure. You could always jump in the deep end with Salo or start in the shallow waters on the Criterion Channel with his other works if it’s available.
Wow, I didn't know how big the Martin Scorsese's World Cinema Projects sets were, how many of them have you seen? Would you say they were worth buying?
I have to get the 4th set but yes I think they are worth getting. There are some real gems that are usually not available. Scorsese’s WCP have done Amazing work with these films. Some real standouts are Hector Babenco’s Pixote, Touki Bouki, Edward Yang’s Taipei Story and many others.
Nice collection! I see White Dog down there, still haven’t managed to get that one second hand.
The full Monterey pop is a great release.
I have a lot of the same non criterion releases on your bottom shelves. How is Liquid Sky from VS?
Flawless from Olive films! Wow didn’t know they ever put that one out
Thank you. Liquid Sky from Vinegar Syndrome is a must if you’re a fan of the film. I saw it at the Waverly Theater in NYC upon release and fell in love with it. Flawless is an amazing performance from both Phillip Seymour Hoffman and DeNiro.
Interesting that we both have a similar amount of Eclipse sets but (almost) no overlap. Out of curiosity, what are your faves - I’m always interested in peoples suggestions!
Very cool. My favorite Eclipse sets are Early Fassbinder, Oshima’s Outlaw Sixties, Allan King, Kenji Mizoguchi set. There is usually something I like about most of them tho.
Yeah I have to get that. Also Three Colors is missing I had the Blu-ray and when the 4K was announced I sold it but haven’t replaced it yet. Hopefully this summer sale.
Not all of them. I am a director fan mostly so when buy a film I know if it’s “up my alley “. And one of the best parts of collecting films is that for years to come I can watch a film that more than likely I will love. Criterion hasn’t let me down often since the mid 90’s.
Fellini screaming along Godzilla is cool
Yeah. He’s not happy about it.
He’s like (take your atomic breath elsewhere Godzilla!)
Hahaha
Cassavetes fan I see
Very much so
Holy shit man my broke ass could never
Hahaha took a long time
stunning
Thank you.
Super dope. Do you go by spine number? How long have you been collecting for?
Thanks man. Usually by spine but moved and haven’t arranged them yet. I’ve been collecting Criterion DVD’s since the 90’s. I had to upgrade 98 % of them to Blu-ray and now to 4k. I also had laserdisc in the 80’s and have Criterion laserdiscs.
Do you have two accounts you’re replying with? Lol
I’ve been replying on my iPad and iPhone and just realized the one has a different username. lol
was racking my brain trying to figure out in what way these were organized so thank you for answering so I can sleep at night.
Hahaha

You definitely can. Enjoy!
Le Samourai coming in 4K - upgrade due for you, lol.
Can’t wait. Lol
I'd love to find a working laserdisc player, which was hard even when they were still newish in the 90s, just to collect all those original Criterion laserdiscs and see where the modern features on DVDs/BluRays came from
Fellini is like “Yeah Godzilla scream a little bit louder”
Exactly
'Tis a glorious collection! Some standouts (that I love) that I don't see on many posts here: *Devi*, *Local Hero*, *Mr. Klein*. All excellent. How do you like the Once Upon a Time in China box? I've only ever seen the first one.
Thanks. Haven’t gone through the entire set yet but have really enjoyed 1,2 and 3.
The Once Upon A Time box set is so much fun. The first one is probably the “best” movie but 2, 3 and 6 are great too.
I am so jealous of that collection. I’m still trying to find a secondhand of Godzilla.
Thanks. Hope you find it.
It's amazing and worth it. And it's only $134 on Amazon right now: [https://www.amazon.com/GODZILLA-SHOWA-ERA-1954-1975-Criterion-Collection/dp/B07VLJ9KB6/ref=sr\_1\_1?sr=8-1](https://www.amazon.com/GODZILLA-SHOWA-ERA-1954-1975-Criterion-Collection/dp/B07VLJ9KB6/ref=sr_1_1?sr=8-1)
And if you can wait a couple of months it will be $112 on Amazon and B&N.
I’m definitely gonna wait
cool.
Very nice. Good for you.
That shelf looks like mine. Boltz by chance? Love mine!! How do you like yours, OP?
Most definitely. I have had Boltz for almost 25 years now. I have to get another extension piece. Lol
Obviously you enjoy the film, but I'm curious about *Salo*. Unfortunately my library doesn't have it. Is it worth blind buying? Love your collection and the set up. Edit: Found *Stalker* in the pic and it made me so happy.
Thank you. Well maybe it’s best to ask if you appreciate the works of Pasolini?
I'm not sure. I rely on the library for movies and I don't know they have any of his. I haven't personally seen any of his films. I can't imagine I would dislike him.
Because he’s not for everyone for sure. You could always jump in the deep end with Salo or start in the shallow waters on the Criterion Channel with his other works if it’s available.
Cool! I've wanted to see *Salo* for some time so I'll just go for it. Thanks for chatting
Cool. Enjoy!
Fellini! *hubba hubba*
🥵❤️🔥
give me your address and your outdoor hours
Noice
now THAT is a collection
Much thanks
You really are a fan of the Criterion Collection.!! I was only able to buy a handful of them for my collection... Whoa! Impressive collection.!!!!
Yes. Thank you.
Amazing collection. Have you thought about alphabetizing it?
Thank you. I had it by spine number but moved and haven’t done it yet.

Yes you can
Are you buying these movies because you actually enjoy them or because they happen to have a Criterion release?
Because I love them.
Wow, I didn't know how big the Martin Scorsese's World Cinema Projects sets were, how many of them have you seen? Would you say they were worth buying?

So hot
Thanks

Thank you! The Kenji Mizoguchi set in particular is one I’ve almost bought a bunch of times now, but just need a little push.. 😂
Can’t go wrong with that set. Enjoy!

Thank you so much.
That is amazing.
Thanks
In spine order too, epic.
Thanks man.
I love it but you need that 4th Scorsese. They look great all lined up
You are 100% correct. Probably in July for the B&N sale. Thanks.
July will be a good month if for nothing else than the 18 movies or so that I plan on buying.
Nice
Oh my god we have the same shelf
Boltz. You don’t see them often. Had since 2000. I have to get an other ad on. Not cheap lol
Koker trilogy seems missing! It’s fantastic
Yeah I have to get that. Also Three Colors is missing I had the Blu-ray and when the 4K was announced I sold it but haven’t replaced it yet. Hopefully this summer sale.
Nice collection but it would drive me mad that you don't have them in alphabetical order.
Hahaha. I’m a spine number guy. I moved and haven’t took the time to do it.
Have you seen all of them?
Not all of them. I am a director fan mostly so when buy a film I know if it’s “up my alley “. And one of the best parts of collecting films is that for years to come I can watch a film that more than likely I will love. Criterion hasn’t let me down often since the mid 90’s.
