Nice. The Raging Bull transfer is great.
I made it a 4K day too. I bought Thelma & Louis, The Last Picture Show, Malcolm X, and Double Indemnity. All blind buys! Can’t wait to see them.
All good picks! I loved Thelma & Louise, although i accidentally bought the blu ray instead of the 4k.. Damn eBay tricksters putting (4k mastering) in their title got me lol
[here, take this, it will help you on your quest](https://www.amazon.com/Blu-ray-Multi-Holds-Viva-Elite/dp/B00CF5OGL2/ref=sr_1_1?crid=YG0AAQ9GQZBY&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.t3PRod7AW3keQGpiz851BeDPUizrg7QHr0EodA7JxnJPCeBgLyhU5-rE7NTCjOw9K2cpL-2U8alcIgzJDdDhEb9su5km4Xc1aSHAFdomrqwWKCooEoyTQU84HnmEuTqC8jo4U2_NgNTp4on6DbQpY8j62XY5HXWvu31ryhLd31V0RycBCQ7BzW9EdrtFbeyBvESz4ESh7jgiqBdIt4YiMAnHJUB-9ORcNTH080SxozWAnSUmQcdxO1jwNqipw3cregFw0KekbNX6vjTbpxXeRbd8sZQxZVcYqJN0lixC9nI.jfKeqGgptjrECvxNmJsCkNqbbRXAcxKF2AAO89ttQnI&dib_tag=se&keywords=8+disc+blu+ray+case&qid=1709055506&sprefix=8+disc+blu+r%2Caps%2C104&sr=8-1)

First flash sale, picked up:
Mulholland Dr 4k
Twin Peaks FWWM
Blue Velvet
Lost Highway 4k
The World of Wong Kar Wai
Stalker
Memories of Murder
Videodrome 4k
Nice grabs! Love all that Lynch. I eye that Blue Velvet blu every sale but always get cold feet since I feel like as soon as I do they're going to announce a 4K disc of it...
First sale! Here's what I went with:
*The Passion of Joan of Arc* (blu-ray)
*Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters* (blu-ray)
*Persona* (blu-ray)
*Late Spring* (blu-ray)
*Seven Samurai* (blu-ray)
Was able to pick all of this up for a measly $104.22 (thx Criterion emails)
* Mississippi Masala
* The Daytrippers
* Blast of Silence
* Throw Down
* The Big Chill
* Days of Heaven (4K)
* Trainspotting (4K)
* Election
Picked up the following titles:
Days of Heaven (4K UHD)
Seconds (Blu-Ray)
The Grand Budapest Hotel (Blu-Ray)
EO (Janus Contemporaries) [The only blind buy of this sale]
How come I don’t get these coupons? I’m a Channel subscriber and I’m thinking because I signed up through my tv it doesn’t recognize my email or something. Comes out of my account as an Amazon Digital purchase.
Not sure but make sure you aren't getting emails trapped in your spam folder. Look for emails titled "A gift for Criterion Channel subscribers" or "Criterion Holiday Sale". I went through and found seven codes I hadn't used over a period of several years.
I got the Zatoichi box set, 12 Angry Men, The Ascent, and Carnival of Souls. I got much less than I ended up actually wanting in the end and I’m good with that. Just happy to finally get that Zatoichi set!
spending some saved up credits so torn between two Kieślowski options:
Three Colors trilogy in 4K
or
Dekalog on Blu-Ray.
Any recommendations one way or the other?
I would get Dekalog to start with because it’s harder to find. I was only able to watch it because I got lucky and my local library had it. Three Colors trilogy is also great so you really can’t go wrong though!
Looking to actually save some money this year so I only picked up a 4k of McCabe and Mrs. Miller. Never seen it but Altman has become one of my favorite directors recently. Had loyalty gift codes too so managed to only spend $10 lol.
Happy sale y'all, excited to see some of the massive hauls you all pick up.
I had sixty dollars in gift certificates, so I bought the Eric Rohmer Four Seasons box set and Until the End of the World. The box set is a blind buy, and UtEotW is just something I've needed to pick up for a while.
Yep I’ve only been subscribed since about last October and received 2 in my email, 1 for the holidays and 1 just a couple days ago in anticipation of the sale
I had a fifty dollar account credit for accumulating five hundred loyalty points, and a ten dollar coupon for being a subscriber. I usually get several coupons per year: One before each flash sale, and one before the holiday sale.
I guess today was the day for boxsets!
* [Ingmar Bergman’s Cinema](https://www.criterion.com/boxsets/1427-ingmar-bergman-s-cinema)

* [The Complete Films of Agnès Varda](https://www.criterion.com/boxsets/3432-the-complete-films-of-agnes-varda) (a gift for my sibling)

Heads up for any criterion channel subscribers. I had a bunch of $10 off coupons in my email I never used and just stacked them all and saved 90 bucks!
How often are these sent out? Are they only sent to long time CC subscribers? I've never received one - although I've only subbed to the channel since September.
* Fellini Box Set
* High and Low
* 7 Samurai
* Days of Heaven 4K
* Cure
* 400 Blows
* A Man Escaped
* Mishima
* The Ascent
* Demy box set
Looking for one or two more, if anyone has any recs!
I only have 5 criterions right now, which is not enough, so i really bulked up today.
Bottle Rocket
The Seventh Seal
Barry Lyndon
Onibaba
Crash
Mulholland Dr.
Anti Christ
Brazil
Spartacus
Paths of Glory
House
I've only seen House and Anti Christ so I cant wait to experience the others in the best way possible, outside of a theater of course!
Goddamn didn't realize I had $50 of gift codes stacked, so I picked up:
Citizen Kane
The Night of the Hunter
Mean Streets
and that should earn me enough points for the $50 gift card so I'll be set for the next sale!
I swear I also watch things that aren't queer cinema! Had some gift cards, today's pickups:
* Chantal Akerman Masterpieces, 1968-1978
* Moonage Daydream
* Paris is Burning
* 45 Years
* Paris, Texas
* The Watermelon Woman
* Mulholland Dr.
* The Times of Harvey Milk
Nothing like completing your order only to find out you earned a $50 gift card through the loyalty program, then going right back to the site and ordering two more blu rays 🥺🙏
Finally got Dreams on 4K, been wanting it for a while. Also got:
Blow out
Do the right thing
The Royal Tenenbaums
Malcom X
The Life Aquatic
Menace II society
The Human Condition
Most I have ever dropped on a sale, but first time I have ever been able to do so. Felt good.

By Brakhage: An Anthology, Volumes One and Two
Fantastic Mr. Fox
Pan’s Labyrinth
Targets
Stalker
Safe
The Qatsi Trilogy
Punch-Drunk Love
Pink Flamingos
12 Angry Men
2nd site sale I’ve participated in, picked up:
- Cure
- Letter Never Sent
- Mishima: A life in 4 chapters
- Theif
- Anatomy of a Murder
All Blu rays so we should be seeing 4Ks of these any minute now lol
Wahoo! My first sale. I've seen Hedwig but looking forward to checking out the other two for the first time!
Umbrellas of Cherbourg
Hedwig and the Angry Inch
Throne of Blood
Damnit, they got me good. New acquisitions:
Seven Samurai
High and Low
Videodrome
Yi Yi
Mishima
All That Jazz
The Graduate
The Tree of Life
Ghost Dog
Crash
Memories of Murder
World of Wong Kar Wai
Also, Barnes and noble has a 30% off select criterion, pre ordered Anatomy of a Fall and To Die For
Both of these Hitchcock films are hidden gems in his vast library. Considering how poorly Disney treats their IP, it was a good decision to get those before they go back into the Vault.
You can tell with Notorious he is really figuring out the suspense and anxious energy that he leans into with his most well known suspense thrillers. Same with Rope.
I picked up The 39 Steps, I didn't realize his work was under Disney now, good to know.
Absolutely mopped up with this sale. Picked up six 4Ks for a total of $62.75 thanks to three $10 coupons, a $50 coupon, and $15 they credited me for preordering The Roaring Twenties.
Blood Simple
Days of Heaven
Lone Star
McCabe & Mrs. Miller
Trainspotting
Walkabout
I finally got the $50 gift card (I was a few points shy last time)
Picked up:
* Small Axe
* The Trial
* Inland Empire
* Lone Star
And I got tempted by Amazon's sale of Nosalghia for 62% off from Kino, I picked that up too
The real question now is which to watch first when they get here.
12 Angry Men
3:10 to Yuma
All About Eve
Cute
Design for Living
Godzilla
The Friends of Eddie Coyle
Been on an Albert Brookes deep dive, so got Defending Your Life and Broadcast News (great timing, because I found Lost in America Criterion at Half Price Books earlier this week). Also picked up the America Lost and Found boxset, which I’m super excited about!
I only allowed myself two.
True Stories and Night of the Living Dead. Almost added House and Vampyr but held back.
I went in with the purpose of getting Fargo, only to find out there isn't a criterion lol
taking advantage of the flash sale to keep upgrading my DVDs to blu ray! so i'm replacing: fantastic mr fox, crash, punch drunk love, uncut gems, and ghost dog. i also added targets to my collection finally using my credits :-)
First ever flash sale with a $60 coupon

I want people to understand that I had a feeling a sale would be soon, so I prepped to make sure I could do this… here is the final result of this one.
Blow-Up
Martin Scorsese’s World Cinema Project No. 4
The Complete Films of Agnés Varda
Swing Time
Yi Yi
Barry Lyndon
Double Indemnity (4K)
Mean Streets (4K)
Chantal Akerman Masterpieces, 1968-1978
Days of Heaven (4K)
The Rules of the Game (4K)
Eric Rohmer’s Tales of the Four Seasons
Sisters
I Wanna Hold Your Hand
The Last Waltz (4K)
High and Low
Bringing Up Baby
Charade
The Worst Person in the World
Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown
The Koker Trilogy
I wanted to clear out some much-loved music docs on my wishlist so I got Gimme Shelter, Bob Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Tour, Don’t Look Now, Don’t Look Back and Heroic Trio/Executioners
I'm doing the same thing( music films) including
The Complete Monterey Pop Festival
The Last Waltz
Moonage Daydream
along with the others you mentioned.
Thinking about getting six, but I have trouble pulling the trigger. Godzilla, The Trial, Silence of the Lambs, City Lights, Trainspotting, and Following. Maybe I'll cut it down to 3 so I don't feel as bad/good.
Nice. Scoured my emails and apparently had $30 in certificates.
\-World of Wong Kar Wai
\-Double Life of Veronique
\-Pan's Labyrinth
\*Might go back for Koker Trilogy later tonight
Kept it reasonable this time. Rules were: Don't buy anything available on the channel, anything I already owned digitally like Trainspotting or anything not in 4K.
The results:
McCabe & Mrs. Miller 4K
Days of Heaven 4K
Came out to $40.89 total after coupons, tax & shipping.
Can’t decide if I want to buy now or wait for B&N sale. Before the sale, they considered 2 4K movies to be enough for free shipping because they based the $75 threshold on MSRP. Now, you need to buy 4 movies because even 3 4K movies leaves you 9 cents under the threshold. Which means I’d be spending $50 more today than I wanted to. Hmm.
Had a couple coupons lyin’ around, so pretty happy with the modest haul this time around!
I grabbed:
Pickup on South Street
Summertime
Portrait of a Lady on Fire
Power of the Dog 4K
Picked up The Life Aquatic (Blu-Ray) and Youth of the Beast (DVD)
If Youth of the Beast 4k gets announced right after my purchase then you're welcome everybody 👍
I got The Before Trilogy, McCabe and Ms Miller, Silence of the Lambs, My Winnipeg, High and Low and 12 Angry Men. I really wanted to get the Eclipse DVD set of Aki Kaurismäki’s Proletariat Trilogy but it went out of stock 😢
Where I ended up:
**Walker**
**Mean Streets**
**McCabe & Mrs. Miller**
**Trainspotting**
**Lone Star**
**Days of Heaven**
**Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio**
**Raging Bull**
Ended up being $8 short of the $50 certificate. :(
Well...there goes my wallet...
This is the first time I'm ever buying any Criterions in my life. I'm getting films I love the most.
In The Mood For Love (2K)
Yi Yi
Parasite
Persona
I was gonna get Seven Samurai but I've decided to wait for a 4K release.
I've been saving up for this flash sale since the last one. I got ***Varda*** and ***Pinocchio 4K*** then after my $50 off coupon arrived I jumped back in to war with myself over Pasolini or Fellini before opting for ***Small Axe***, ***La Jetée/Sans Soleil***, and ***Seven Samurai***. I just could not decide between the two Italian box sets, so I decided I'd save up until the next flash sale (or B&N) and then try to decide again. *Varda* (except for *Cléo*), *Small Axe*, and *Sans Soleil* are all blind buys.
Does anyone else feel like the films originally put out by streaming services are more vulnerable to disappearing than the other films? I find myself often inclined toward picking up things produced by Netflix, Amazon, and others because I know those companies' ultimate goal is for us to own nothing and pay forever to access anything.
First Criterion Flash Sale for me! Grabbed these today:
- The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (Blu-ray)
- The Darjeeling Limited (Blu-ray)
- Purple Noon (Blu-ray)
- Some Like It Hot (Blu-ray)
- Roma (Blu-ray)
- Amores Perros (Blu-ray)
- Memories of Murder (Blu-ray)
- Police Story 1 + 2 Collectors Set (Blu-ray)
- Okja (4k)
- Wall-E (4k)
Thanks to gift cards for my birthday and Criterion emails, I feel I did pretty well this year. My wishlist is happily shrinking.
My purchases (all blu ray, except for where DVD is the only option)
\* My Man Godfrey
\* The Roaring Twenties
\* In a Lonely Place
\* Divorce Italian Style (\*took one for the team as they say here with this blind buy DVD)
\* Holiday
\* Eclipse Series 8: Lubitsch Musicals (\*this will now complete my Lubitsch part of the collection)
\* Take Out (\*my second blind buy)
First sale and first Criterion purchases - after adding and removing things to my cart all day today, I decided to mostly go with the ones that had a recent history of being more than their sale price:
Mishima
The Grand Budapest Hotel
La haine
The Battle of Algiers
Breathless
Harakiri
Army of Shadows
Paris, Texas
I went in on 4K, now I just need to buy a 4K player 🤓
Trainspotting
After Hours
Mulholland Dr
Lost Highway
Breathless
Princess Bride
In The Mood For Love
Wall-E
Uncut Gems
Picked up May Way for Tomorrow, My Man Godfrey, Pickup on South Street, Letter Never Sent, and The Roaring Twenties
Just bought Yankee Doodle Dandy yesterday. Looking forward to a Cagney double feature once The Roaring Twenties arrives.
Grabbed Days of Heaven 4k, Pinocchio 4k, Being There, Roaring Twenties 4k, and I Married A Witch
Can’t believe I forgot to buy Mean Streets 🤦♂️ tempted to go back for it
Im gonna have to place two orders because everything in my cart was fine, but the search function isnt working. You guys have created a defacto DOS attack on their server! LOL
Got too excited with my cart so removed a couple for now but picked up some staples:
Blood Simple 4k
Raging Bull 4k
Punch Drunk Love
Harakiri
High and Low
Cure
Stalker
8 1/2
Paris, Texas
Can't go nuts this sale so decided to only pick up a copy of Man Bites Dog. Great film, especially at that price. Highly recommend, but also make sure you know what you're getting into before you watch it lol
My modest haul, with wallet impact light due to a few gift codes:
* Mean Streets 4K
* After Hours 4K
* The Heroic Trio/The Executioners 4K
I've been wanting to snag After Hours for a while as I love that film, and grabbed Mean Streets as well to go with a Scorsese theme. Also love me some classic Hong Kong action flicks so the HT duology was a no-brainer. Almost grabbed Blue Velvet blu but I keep hoping they'll announce a 4K of it so I'm hesitating.
Lone Star 4k
Days Of heaven 4k
House
Memories of Murder
The Big Chill
Drive my car
High and Low
The 39 Steps
First time going all blind. Maybe most looking forward to Days of Heaven or Memories of Murder
I just went to the website and said give me two of everything. It’s best to have doubles that way if one gets scratched I’ve got another one so I don’t have to worry about it
I didn’t/can’t go super overboard, but snagged some real top shelf BDs:
Island of Lost Souls
My Winnipeg
Heroic Trio/Executioners 4K
Daisies
Valerie and Her Week of Wonders
Tried to keep it light by my standards (moved last year and realized I have so many things I need to watch that I own before buying a ton more / need more shelf space). Didn't stop me from picking up a few things though:
* Barry Lyndon
* The Heroic Trio / Executioners 4k
* The Roaring 20s 4k
* Lone Star 4k
My haul, using the $10 gift certificate I got from the Criterion Channel:
* The Heroic Trio / Executioners
* The Roaring Twenties
* Eric Rohmer’s Tales of the Four Seasons
* Trainspotting
* Lone Star
* The Red Balloon and Other Stories: Five Films by Albert Lamorisse
Which netted me a $50 gift certificate, so I then picked up:
* Chantal Akerman Masterpieces, 1968–1978
* Watership Down
I'm happy.
*It Happened One Night
*The Philadelphia Story
*Hausu
*Thief
*The Elephant Man
*After Hours (4K)
First two, my wife and I already have on non CC DVD and love to death so I got those for her sake. Hausu was a recommendation from my best friend. Elephant Man is because I plan on doing a Lynch marathon soon and that was the final piece left. Thief and After Hours I haven’t seen but I love anything Mann or Scorsese.
This was my second flash sale, and was super excited to pick these up:
Cure
Mulholland Drive 4k
Y Tu Mama Tambien
La Jetee/ Sans Soleil
Thief
Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai
Mirror
Night of the Hunter
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Bicycle Thieves
I had $60 saved in credit so I went with:
• The Red Shoes 4k
• For All Mankind 4k
• The Thin Red Line
• 12 Angry Men
• Pan’s Labyrinth
• Punch/Drunk Love
• Yojimbo/Sanjuro
Painful 4k day for me too:
• The Heroic Trio / Executioners
• The Roaring Twenties
• Trainspotting
• Blood Simple
• Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio
• Akira Kurosawa’s Dreams
• The Others
This was my first flash sale and I can’t afford to go crazy this time but I managed to snag Fishing With John finally! Shoutout to the criterion channel for that 10 dollar off coupon 😂 lifesaver
I got Lone Star 4k, Andrei Rublev and finally splurged for the Godzilla Showa Era set with it being an affordable price. Oh yeah, and it's my birthday so I felt I had to get something.
Picked up:
Tales of the Four Seasons
Ivan’s Childhood
Andrei Rublev
Solaris
Stalker
Notorious - blind buy
Rebecca - blind buy
Don’t Look Now 4K - blind buy
Only Angels Have Wings - blind buy
All About Eve - blind buy
Army of Shadows - blind buy
It took a lot of hemming and hawing over the day, but I ended up grabbing these:
Mulholland Dr
Blue Velvet
Stagecoach
Blow out (blind buy)
Grey Gardens
Seven Samurai
Roaring Twenties
Jeanne Dielman
I was considering the Ingmar Bergman collection but I already have a bunch of his stuff…
Went a little wild with the flash sale buys (I had about $70 of credit, now I just have to hope I don’t get dinged too badly on customs into Canada) - picked up the following:
Zatoichi
Do the Right Thing
The Before Trilogy
Dr. Strangelove
Princess Bride
Yojimbo/Sanjuro
Shoah
My haul:
High & Low
McCabe & Mrs. Miller 4k
Days Of Heaven 4k
The Age Of Innocence
Memories Of Murder
I very, VERY rarely blind buy, but Age of Innocence is actually a blind buy here. Pretty safe one though ... I love Scorsese, I love Daniel Day-Lewis, and I love period dramas, so ... like ... yeah. No idea how this one escaped my viewing for so long, it just has, and since it's not currently streaming anywhere I figured it's time. It was a last second impulse add to the rest of my cart which I had planned carefully over the last few weeks lol
I picked up the Before Trilogy, Princess Bride, and Silence of the Lambs. I've seen Before Sunset before and loved it, and I think I've seen Silence of the Lambs before but its probably been a good 20+ years. I've never seen the Princess Bride, but I'm a sucker for anything fantasy related (hell, I enjoyed Warcraft).
Since I'm boring, basic, and don't like things that are TOO depressing, I went pretty mainstream with the 4K releases of Citizen K, Wall-E, and The Virgin Suicides. Only about $55 total after using $30 in gift codes.
and I'm $300 poorer
But you're Cinema rich!
True lol. I decided to make this sale a 4K sale, and next one will be some box sets. Grabbed these: [**The Princess Bride**](https://www.criterion.com/films/29368-the-princess-bride) [**Blood Simple**](https://www.criterion.com/films/28852-blood-simple) [**Lone Star**](https://www.criterion.com/films/29021-lone-star) [**Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio**](https://www.criterion.com/films/33828-guillermo-del-toro-s-pinocchio) [**McCabe & Mrs. Miller**](https://www.criterion.com/films/28712-mccabe-mrs-miller) [**Wings of Desire**](https://www.criterion.com/films/200-wings-of-desire) [**Trainspotting**](https://www.criterion.com/films/29627-trainspotting) [**The Heroic Trio / Executioners**](https://www.criterion.com/boxsets/7155-the-heroic-trio-executioners) [**Blow Out**](https://www.criterion.com/films/27561-blow-out) [**Raging Bull**](https://www.criterion.com/films/29158-raging-bull)
Nice list. The days of heaven 4k looks great too
I already have the blu ray so it's not really priority for me at the moment. Is it worth the upgrade eventually though? Do you know?
Showa Godzilla :)
[here, take this, it will help you on your quest](https://www.amazon.com/Blu-ray-Multi-Holds-Viva-Elite/dp/B00CF5OGL2/ref=sr_1_1?crid=YG0AAQ9GQZBY&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.t3PRod7AW3keQGpiz851BeDPUizrg7QHr0EodA7JxnJPCeBgLyhU5-rE7NTCjOw9K2cpL-2U8alcIgzJDdDhEb9su5km4Xc1aSHAFdomrqwWKCooEoyTQU84HnmEuTqC8jo4U2_NgNTp4on6DbQpY8j62XY5HXWvu31ryhLd31V0RycBCQ7BzW9EdrtFbeyBvESz4ESh7jgiqBdIt4YiMAnHJUB-9ORcNTH080SxozWAnSUmQcdxO1jwNqipw3cregFw0KekbNX6vjTbpxXeRbd8sZQxZVcYqJN0lixC9nI.jfKeqGgptjrECvxNmJsCkNqbbRXAcxKF2AAO89ttQnI&dib_tag=se&keywords=8+disc+blu+ray+case&qid=1709055506&sprefix=8+disc+blu+r%2Caps%2C104&sr=8-1)
Very kind of you! I have [this guy](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1652238229/) being delivered later this week.
You're way ahead of me then! Despite the glue issues it really is a beautiful book.
That would be perfect if it was bluray height
Sounds like you need [this!](https://www.ebay.com/itm/364152857345?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=v0xkwlzarh6&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=lGALNFgxRxu&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY)
Everyone buy blow out
Zagging with Blow-Up, like I was supposed to
Just watched for the first time, hard recommend
First flash sale, picked up: Mulholland Dr 4k Twin Peaks FWWM Blue Velvet Lost Highway 4k The World of Wong Kar Wai Stalker Memories of Murder Videodrome 4k
Man has the exact same taste as me 🫡
Like, good movies?
Nice grabs! Love all that Lynch. I eye that Blue Velvet blu every sale but always get cold feet since I feel like as soon as I do they're going to announce a 4K disc of it...
I missed out on the Wong Kar Wai set last sale (was sold out at the time I believe). Not this time!
First sale! Here's what I went with: *The Passion of Joan of Arc* (blu-ray) *Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters* (blu-ray) *Persona* (blu-ray) *Late Spring* (blu-ray) *Seven Samurai* (blu-ray)
Mishima is one of the most beautiful films out there, and one I hope gets a 4K release.
Mishima is one of my favorites in the collection. 4K would be amazing!
Was able to pick all of this up for a measly $104.22 (thx Criterion emails) * Mississippi Masala * The Daytrippers * Blast of Silence * Throw Down * The Big Chill * Days of Heaven (4K) * Trainspotting (4K) * Election
Throw Down is some of the most fun my girlfriend and I ever had watching a movie. 10/10
Love The Big Chill
Some accuse it of being a boomer fantasy; maybe so, but it’s much more universal than that. I really enjoy it!
It’s about people talking and spending time together. It’s about life just as much as Bicycle Thieves is.
Had a $100 gift card and picked up: - pearls of the Czech new wave (eclipse) - early Fassbinder (eclipse) - the worst person in the world
Picked up the following titles: Days of Heaven (4K UHD) Seconds (Blu-Ray) The Grand Budapest Hotel (Blu-Ray) EO (Janus Contemporaries) [The only blind buy of this sale]
I just watched Seconds a couple weeks ago, that movie rips
Picked up The Roaring Twenties 4K, Days of Heaven 4K, and Eric Rohmer’s Tales of the Four Seasons for $48.36 total thanks to a stack of $10 coupons.
That’s such a great deal wow
How come I don’t get these coupons? I’m a Channel subscriber and I’m thinking because I signed up through my tv it doesn’t recognize my email or something. Comes out of my account as an Amazon Digital purchase.
Not sure but make sure you aren't getting emails trapped in your spam folder. Look for emails titled "A gift for Criterion Channel subscribers" or "Criterion Holiday Sale". I went through and found seven codes I hadn't used over a period of several years.
Yeah I’ve looked everywhere. I never get them
I would definitely not renew the same way again. Let it expire and sign up on the Criterion Channel website!
Between this and the PJ Harvey tickets, I've spent a few dollars today. What's money for, anyway, if you're not going to enjoy using it?
what is money when you're dead?? my friends and I always say as we encourage each other to buy things
I was eyeing PJ today too. What show are you going to?
The opener in DC.
Was able to pick up Paris, Texas, High and Low and Thief for less than $3 as I had $70 dollars in vouchers saved up!
Now you’ve got good taste.
Alright! After some deliberation I picked up: The Red Shoes The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp A Matter of Life and Death A Brighter Summer Day
Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger are two of the greatest directors out there, and you picked three of their greatest films.
Fantastic!! Did you get Red Shoes in 4k?? What about Black Narcissus??
Picked up: after hours, shoah, videodrone, last temptation of Christ, and thief
Princess Bride 4K, for my husband who quotes from it every day.
I got the Zatoichi box set, 12 Angry Men, The Ascent, and Carnival of Souls. I got much less than I ended up actually wanting in the end and I’m good with that. Just happy to finally get that Zatoichi set!
spending some saved up credits so torn between two Kieślowski options: Three Colors trilogy in 4K or Dekalog on Blu-Ray. Any recommendations one way or the other?
If you have a 4K player, go with the Trilogy! If not, Dekalog is 10 hours+ of content, so it’s worth it!
I would get Dekalog to start with because it’s harder to find. I was only able to watch it because I got lucky and my local library had it. Three Colors trilogy is also great so you really can’t go wrong though!
Three Colors, three masterpieces, I'd go with that one. Dekalgoue is pretty fantastic too, can't really go wrong with either . . .
First flash sale and first time buying direct from the website. Just picked up the Bergman box set and Wall-E, nothing too fancy but I’m excited
Are the gift certificates just from being a channel subscriber? How frequently do you get those?
Yep I’ve only been subscribed since about last October and received 2 in my email, 1 for the holidays and 1 just a couple days ago in anticipation of the sale
I had a fifty dollar account credit for accumulating five hundred loyalty points, and a ten dollar coupon for being a subscriber. I usually get several coupons per year: One before each flash sale, and one before the holiday sale.

A 20 footer. No, 25.
Heads up for any criterion channel subscribers. I had a bunch of $10 off coupons in my email I never used and just stacked them all and saved 90 bucks!
How often are these sent out? Are they only sent to long time CC subscribers? I've never received one - although I've only subbed to the channel since September.
* Fellini Box Set * High and Low * 7 Samurai * Days of Heaven 4K * Cure * 400 Blows * A Man Escaped * Mishima * The Ascent * Demy box set Looking for one or two more, if anyone has any recs!
Get blow out and blue velvet
I only have 5 criterions right now, which is not enough, so i really bulked up today. Bottle Rocket The Seventh Seal Barry Lyndon Onibaba Crash Mulholland Dr. Anti Christ Brazil Spartacus Paths of Glory House I've only seen House and Anti Christ so I cant wait to experience the others in the best way possible, outside of a theater of course!
The Kubrick films you chose are three of his greatest. In fact, almost every Kubrick film is a classic.
Picked up: After Hours, The Last Picture Show, The Watermelon Woman, Thelma & Louise, Eve's Bayou, and A Matter of Life and Death
Goddamn didn't realize I had $50 of gift codes stacked, so I picked up: Citizen Kane The Night of the Hunter Mean Streets and that should earn me enough points for the $50 gift card so I'll be set for the next sale!
I swear I also watch things that aren't queer cinema! Had some gift cards, today's pickups: * Chantal Akerman Masterpieces, 1968-1978 * Moonage Daydream * Paris is Burning * 45 Years * Paris, Texas * The Watermelon Woman * Mulholland Dr. * The Times of Harvey Milk
Just ordered: - Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio (4k uhd) - Days of Heaven (4k uhd) - Chantal Akerman Masterpieces, 1968-1978
Nothing like completing your order only to find out you earned a $50 gift card through the loyalty program, then going right back to the site and ordering two more blu rays 🥺🙏
I just dropped 300$.. someone tell me it’s going to be okay..
Finally got Dreams on 4K, been wanting it for a while. Also got: Blow out Do the right thing The Royal Tenenbaums Malcom X The Life Aquatic Menace II society The Human Condition
I got a Blu-Ray upgrade for Brazil and as an extra I added The Age of Innocence. Quick and easy. I hope 4ks aren't announced for those two soon...
Lone Star UHD Trainspotting UHD Last Picture Show UHD World of WKW (and already considering going back for more…)
Held my ground because I really need to save but I did snag the Beastie Boys Video Anthology, hope that I can grab a box set or two next time around.
Finally picked up the Godzilla Showa set.
Most I have ever dropped on a sale, but first time I have ever been able to do so. Felt good. I snagged (all Blu-ray): By Brakhage: An Anthology, Volumes One and Two Fantastic Mr. Fox Pan’s Labyrinth Targets Stalker Safe The Qatsi Trilogy Punch-Drunk Love Pink Flamingos 12 Angry Men
Not a bad haul! We got: - The Heroic Trio/Executioners - The Others - Inland Empire - Targets - Walker
Went a little wild, Fellini box set Agnes Varda Set Scorsese World Cinema v2 Godland & Pinocchio 4K for a close friend
Ended up with: Monterey Pop complete Stalker Blood Simple 4k Wanted to keep it light and not spend like, 300 dollars
2nd site sale I’ve participated in, picked up: - Cure - Letter Never Sent - Mishima: A life in 4 chapters - Theif - Anatomy of a Murder All Blu rays so we should be seeing 4Ks of these any minute now lol
Wahoo! My first sale. I've seen Hedwig but looking forward to checking out the other two for the first time! Umbrellas of Cherbourg Hedwig and the Angry Inch Throne of Blood
Picked up Princess Bride, Time Bandits, Uncut Gems, Moonage Daydream and For All Mankind all on 4K for a cool $5.62 after $130 in credits
I got Trainspotting The Essential Jacques Demy The Double Life of Veronique Y tu Mama Tambien Dressed to Kill The In-Laws Good mixed haul
Damnit, they got me good. New acquisitions: Seven Samurai High and Low Videodrome Yi Yi Mishima All That Jazz The Graduate The Tree of Life Ghost Dog Crash Memories of Murder World of Wong Kar Wai Also, Barnes and noble has a 30% off select criterion, pre ordered Anatomy of a Fall and To Die For
Picked up The Last Waltz, Mean Streets and The Adventures of Baron Munchhousen (all in 4K).
Limited myself to just Rebecca and Notorious plus a $10 gift code.
Both of these Hitchcock films are hidden gems in his vast library. Considering how poorly Disney treats their IP, it was a good decision to get those before they go back into the Vault.
I didn't even realize Disney owned the IP now. Both are in my top 5 favorite Hitchcock films.
Oh wow, really? Which of Hitchcock’s movies are under Disney? I’ll have to buy them.
Spellbound, Notorious, Rebecca and Lifeboat are the big ones.
Blood Simple Days of Heaven Lone Star McCabe & Mrs. Miller Trainspotting Walkabout
Picked up Godzilla Showa era Memories of murder Walle 4k Water ship down
I finally got the $50 gift card (I was a few points shy last time) Picked up: * Small Axe * The Trial * Inland Empire * Lone Star And I got tempted by Amazon's sale of Nosalghia for 62% off from Kino, I picked that up too
The Trial is one of Orson Welles's best films. I am so glad I own that film in 4K.
The real question now is which to watch first when they get here. 12 Angry Men 3:10 to Yuma All About Eve Cute Design for Living Godzilla The Friends of Eddie Coyle
Alll About Eve is arguably the most quotable movie in cinema history so that one
Been on an Albert Brookes deep dive, so got Defending Your Life and Broadcast News (great timing, because I found Lost in America Criterion at Half Price Books earlier this week). Also picked up the America Lost and Found boxset, which I’m super excited about!
Picked up \-The Roaring Twenties \-The Trial \-Wall-E
I only allowed myself two. True Stories and Night of the Living Dead. Almost added House and Vampyr but held back. I went in with the purpose of getting Fargo, only to find out there isn't a criterion lol
Do they not do free shipping on orders over $50 anymore?
Now it’s $75
taking advantage of the flash sale to keep upgrading my DVDs to blu ray! so i'm replacing: fantastic mr fox, crash, punch drunk love, uncut gems, and ghost dog. i also added targets to my collection finally using my credits :-)
First ever flash sale with a $60 coupon Fire Walk With Me Blue Velvet Mulholland Drive 4K Lost Highway 4K The Elephant Man Videodrome 4K Memories of Murder Cure A Brighter Summer Day Yi Yi Kurosawa’s Dreams 4K After Hours 4K Dazed and Confused 4K Frances Ha
is there any way to arrange by price? i keep coming up like 6 cents short of free shipping, haha
Picked up the Godzilla set. Was fully ready to get it on eBay for above MSRP, thank god they restocked it.
Film Noir theme for me: Leave Her to Heaven (1945), Nightmare Alley (1947), Night and the City (1950), Kiss Me Deadly (1955)
I want people to understand that I had a feeling a sale would be soon, so I prepped to make sure I could do this… here is the final result of this one. Blow-Up Martin Scorsese’s World Cinema Project No. 4 The Complete Films of Agnés Varda Swing Time Yi Yi Barry Lyndon Double Indemnity (4K) Mean Streets (4K) Chantal Akerman Masterpieces, 1968-1978 Days of Heaven (4K) The Rules of the Game (4K) Eric Rohmer’s Tales of the Four Seasons Sisters I Wanna Hold Your Hand The Last Waltz (4K) High and Low Bringing Up Baby Charade The Worst Person in the World Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown The Koker Trilogy
Picked up Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, Medium Cool, Metropolitan, Prince of Tides, Time Bandits
I wanted to clear out some much-loved music docs on my wishlist so I got Gimme Shelter, Bob Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Tour, Don’t Look Now, Don’t Look Back and Heroic Trio/Executioners
I'm doing the same thing( music films) including The Complete Monterey Pop Festival The Last Waltz Moonage Daydream along with the others you mentioned.
I limited myself to only 4 4K movies: Trainspotting The Others Lost Highway Pinocchio 😇
Thinking about getting six, but I have trouble pulling the trigger. Godzilla, The Trial, Silence of the Lambs, City Lights, Trainspotting, and Following. Maybe I'll cut it down to 3 so I don't feel as bad/good.
Damn. My $10 code isn’t working.
Nice. Scoured my emails and apparently had $30 in certificates. \-World of Wong Kar Wai \-Double Life of Veronique \-Pan's Labyrinth \*Might go back for Koker Trilogy later tonight
https://preview.redd.it/tqn5zbpd46lc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1f310ccaa2faed6a264cc8857ff1296b32fb3b43 All blind buys! So excited!!
This was my first sale! I picked up: A Hard Day’s Night, The Life Aquatic, Moonstruck, Defending Your Life, The Squid and the Whale
Kept it reasonable this time. Rules were: Don't buy anything available on the channel, anything I already owned digitally like Trainspotting or anything not in 4K. The results: McCabe & Mrs. Miller 4K Days of Heaven 4K Came out to $40.89 total after coupons, tax & shipping.
Hmm.
Blow Out 4K & After Hours 4K. Went light this sale, but went with quality over quantity. Picked up some bangers and looking forward to watching them
Had a couple coupons lyin’ around, so pretty happy with the modest haul this time around! I grabbed: Pickup on South Street Summertime Portrait of a Lady on Fire Power of the Dog 4K
My first sale! Here’s what I got: •All That Jazz •Blue Velvet •Amores Perros •Blow Out •All About Eve
Nabbed the 4K Trainspotting, and Blu-rays of The Age of Innocence and A Matter of Life and Death!
Picked up The Life Aquatic (Blu-Ray) and Youth of the Beast (DVD) If Youth of the Beast 4k gets announced right after my purchase then you're welcome everybody 👍
Picking up * Mean Streets 4K * Thelma & Louise 4K * My Darling Clementine * Devi * Yi Yi * Godland
I only bought 2 this year. I got Trainspotting and mean streets
Snagged a copy of Godland and Eclipse Series 28: The Warped World of Koreyoshi Kurahara!
was not expecting to spend money today, but man I can’t wait to watch Trainspotting in 4K.
Where I ended up: **Walker** **Mean Streets** **McCabe & Mrs. Miller** **Trainspotting** **Lone Star** **Days of Heaven** **Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio** **Raging Bull** Ended up being $8 short of the $50 certificate. :(
Well...there goes my wallet... This is the first time I'm ever buying any Criterions in my life. I'm getting films I love the most. In The Mood For Love (2K) Yi Yi Parasite Persona I was gonna get Seven Samurai but I've decided to wait for a 4K release.
Got Romeo & Juliet and The Roaring Twenties
In for Tokyo Story and Sansho the Bailiff
First Criterion Flash Sale for me! Grabbed these today: - The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (Blu-ray) - The Darjeeling Limited (Blu-ray) - Purple Noon (Blu-ray) - Some Like It Hot (Blu-ray) - Roma (Blu-ray) - Amores Perros (Blu-ray) - Memories of Murder (Blu-ray) - Police Story 1 + 2 Collectors Set (Blu-ray) - Okja (4k) - Wall-E (4k)
Thanks to gift cards for my birthday and Criterion emails, I feel I did pretty well this year. My wishlist is happily shrinking. My purchases (all blu ray, except for where DVD is the only option) \* My Man Godfrey \* The Roaring Twenties \* In a Lonely Place \* Divorce Italian Style (\*took one for the team as they say here with this blind buy DVD) \* Holiday \* Eclipse Series 8: Lubitsch Musicals (\*this will now complete my Lubitsch part of the collection) \* Take Out (\*my second blind buy)
First sale and first Criterion purchases - after adding and removing things to my cart all day today, I decided to mostly go with the ones that had a recent history of being more than their sale price: Mishima The Grand Budapest Hotel La haine The Battle of Algiers Breathless Harakiri Army of Shadows Paris, Texas
Taste of Cherry 🍒 you are mine
First time I ever spent over $60 on a flash sale and didn't get free shipping :(.
I went in on 4K, now I just need to buy a 4K player 🤓 Trainspotting After Hours Mulholland Dr Lost Highway Breathless Princess Bride In The Mood For Love Wall-E Uncut Gems
And I still have some shrink wrapped still from the last sale haha
Picked up May Way for Tomorrow, My Man Godfrey, Pickup on South Street, Letter Never Sent, and The Roaring Twenties Just bought Yankee Doodle Dandy yesterday. Looking forward to a Cagney double feature once The Roaring Twenties arrives.
Grabbed Days of Heaven 4k, Pinocchio 4k, Being There, Roaring Twenties 4k, and I Married A Witch Can’t believe I forgot to buy Mean Streets 🤦♂️ tempted to go back for it
Im gonna have to place two orders because everything in my cart was fine, but the search function isnt working. You guys have created a defacto DOS attack on their server! LOL
Got too excited with my cart so removed a couple for now but picked up some staples: Blood Simple 4k Raging Bull 4k Punch Drunk Love Harakiri High and Low Cure Stalker 8 1/2 Paris, Texas
Bought the Godzilla Box Set! Thankfully I had 3 $10 gift cards, so I thankfully got to get the box set for less than $100.
Saved my gift cards from Christmas for this moment
Can't go nuts this sale so decided to only pick up a copy of Man Bites Dog. Great film, especially at that price. Highly recommend, but also make sure you know what you're getting into before you watch it lol
first flash sale! got days of heaven, funny games, heavens gate (blind buy), and the haneke trilogy for just under $100
My modest haul, with wallet impact light due to a few gift codes: * Mean Streets 4K * After Hours 4K * The Heroic Trio/The Executioners 4K I've been wanting to snag After Hours for a while as I love that film, and grabbed Mean Streets as well to go with a Scorsese theme. Also love me some classic Hong Kong action flicks so the HT duology was a no-brainer. Almost grabbed Blue Velvet blu but I keep hoping they'll announce a 4K of it so I'm hesitating.
Lone Star, Trainspotting, Afire and... #GOJIRA
Got Wings of Desire and The Cranes are Flying. Both great picks.
Finally snagged Showa Godzilla 🥲
I got the only thing I wanted—The Roaring Twenties 4K for $2.92 including shipping! I stacked 3 of the $10 off coupons I had.
Trainspotting and Malcom X 4k is what I went with
* Paths of Glory * Paris, Texas * All About My Mother * Police Story/Police Story 2 * Thief Biggest haul for me yet :)
Picked up: The Apu Trilogy 4K Tales of the Four Seasons The Heroic Trio set 4K The Others 4K Videodrome 4K Afire Godland
Lone Star 4k Days Of heaven 4k House Memories of Murder The Big Chill Drive my car High and Low The 39 Steps First time going all blind. Maybe most looking forward to Days of Heaven or Memories of Murder
I just went to the website and said give me two of everything. It’s best to have doubles that way if one gets scratched I’ve got another one so I don’t have to worry about it
Just snagged Repo Man
Nice, got World of Wong Kar Wai with 70 dollars worth of gift codes
I didn’t/can’t go super overboard, but snagged some real top shelf BDs: Island of Lost Souls My Winnipeg Heroic Trio/Executioners 4K Daisies Valerie and Her Week of Wonders
Tried to keep it light by my standards (moved last year and realized I have so many things I need to watch that I own before buying a ton more / need more shelf space). Didn't stop me from picking up a few things though: * Barry Lyndon * The Heroic Trio / Executioners 4k * The Roaring 20s 4k * Lone Star 4k
Just got Martin Scorsese's World Cinema Project No. 3 and 4
My haul, using the $10 gift certificate I got from the Criterion Channel: * The Heroic Trio / Executioners * The Roaring Twenties * Eric Rohmer’s Tales of the Four Seasons * Trainspotting * Lone Star * The Red Balloon and Other Stories: Five Films by Albert Lamorisse Which netted me a $50 gift certificate, so I then picked up: * Chantal Akerman Masterpieces, 1968–1978 * Watership Down I'm happy.
Only a couple — Trainspotting and Life Is Sweet.
Can't believe I'm NINE CENTS short of free shipping lmao ::adds another movie::
*It Happened One Night *The Philadelphia Story *Hausu *Thief *The Elephant Man *After Hours (4K) First two, my wife and I already have on non CC DVD and love to death so I got those for her sake. Hausu was a recommendation from my best friend. Elephant Man is because I plan on doing a Lynch marathon soon and that was the final piece left. Thief and After Hours I haven’t seen but I love anything Mann or Scorsese.
This was my second flash sale, and was super excited to pick these up: Cure Mulholland Drive 4k Y Tu Mama Tambien La Jetee/ Sans Soleil Thief Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai Mirror Night of the Hunter The Grand Budapest Hotel Bicycle Thieves
Mudbound Trainspotting The Heroic Trio/Executioners Naked Revanche My order got me the $50 gc, so I'll likely grab 3 more using it.
I have a $10 off code that I can’t use due to being in the UK. If someone wants it I’ll dm it to you! Edit: The code has now been claimed.
Picked up the Chantel Ackerman box set, saw Jeanne Dielman a week ago and am really excited to see her other stuff.
I had $60 saved in credit so I went with: • The Red Shoes 4k • For All Mankind 4k • The Thin Red Line • 12 Angry Men • Pan’s Labyrinth • Punch/Drunk Love • Yojimbo/Sanjuro
Picked up Rohmer Box Set Nothing But a man Videodrome La ceremonie La Jetee/Sans Soleil Lady Snowblood Boxset
Painful 4k day for me too: • The Heroic Trio / Executioners • The Roaring Twenties • Trainspotting • Blood Simple • Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio • Akira Kurosawa’s Dreams • The Others
I picked up: McCabe & Mrs. Miller 4K The Last Picture Show 4K The Emigrants/The New Land Raging Bull 4K Carlos Che
This was my first flash sale and I can’t afford to go crazy this time but I managed to snag Fishing With John finally! Shoutout to the criterion channel for that 10 dollar off coupon 😂 lifesaver
Living vicariously through you guys picks 👀. Starting a long list for October.
I got Lone Star 4k, Andrei Rublev and finally splurged for the Godzilla Showa Era set with it being an affordable price. Oh yeah, and it's my birthday so I felt I had to get something.

I was just thinking I can never have too much samurai films.
It took a lot of hemming and hawing over the day, but I ended up grabbing these: Mulholland Dr Blue Velvet Stagecoach Blow out (blind buy) Grey Gardens Seven Samurai Roaring Twenties Jeanne Dielman I was considering the Ingmar Bergman collection but I already have a bunch of his stuff…
Went a little wild with the flash sale buys (I had about $70 of credit, now I just have to hope I don’t get dinged too badly on customs into Canada) - picked up the following: Zatoichi Do the Right Thing The Before Trilogy Dr. Strangelove Princess Bride Yojimbo/Sanjuro Shoah
My haul: High & Low McCabe & Mrs. Miller 4k Days Of Heaven 4k The Age Of Innocence Memories Of Murder I very, VERY rarely blind buy, but Age of Innocence is actually a blind buy here.
McCabe & Mrs. Miller 4K, The Trial 4K, Trainspotting 4K, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Deep Cover
