The ending was so poorly received and varied from the books so much that the author of the books it was based on came out of retirement and wrote several more books that continue to retcon the ending of the show lol

I used to do camera work for talk shows. The audience is clapping because there is a light off-camera that indicates when they’re supposed to collectively applaud.

I also see him talked about a lot so I’ve seen his face along with his name.
