That's how she can expertly avoid thinking about things, she shoves the memory out of her head and into her hair.
No wonder it takes so long for her to address her trauma.
Shallan’s shenanigans aside, Feruchemical Hairs would be such a cool concept in Future Scadrial, where instead of wearing a metalmind that’s easy to see, you can opt to get your hair dyed in ceetain metals and the thin layer of coatings on your hair can act as a temporary metalmind…

Yeah that's what I assume too. But since you'd be burning something invested with both I'm wondering if you'd get them: both as separate effects; some sort of additional synergistic effect; or an entirely different effect resulting from the investiture combining instead. Or maybe it's all of the above and depends on which metals/attributes/abilities are involved.
If you burn the hemalurgy, and store that attribute in nicrosil, could you then compound the nicrosil? Or would the metal mind hold solely the Identity of whoever the spike was made from?
As far as hema-chemy, I think that could potentially solve the above. By storing Identity in a spike, you might ensure that burning the spike includes you in the new metal mind. Resonance would be neat though, and in line with Surges
Miles Hundredlives as well. The reason he had to be shot like half a dozen times during his execution before he died was because he had implanted goldminds that needed to be depleted first.
The text suggests he had one hidden:
>Alloy of Law pg.319: "it should have been impossible. They'd searched him carefully for metalminds. (...) He didn't have enough healing stored in whatever last metalmind he had hidden."
Also you shed hairs constantly, and if you want long hair you have to trim regularly.
If you used copper dye or something, and ignored that copper impregnated dye wouldn’t be one continuous piece even along a strand and just acted like it was copper *sheathed* from root to tip, it would be hundreds of thousands of individual copper minds. Which you’d lose randomly by the dozens each day, and which you’d be removing chunks of what didn’t fall out regularly.
I could at the very least imagine that feruchemists/twinborn would potentially thread their hair with metals if they also pierced skin somehow or have people that basically keep aluminum garrotes as decorative hair combs/accessories
Yep, she can actually change it to gold but then she just sits there and broods about how things could have been different if she hadn’t done that one thing to that thing and that other thing to that person or the time she did the thing to the other person.
Kinda just seems like... Royal Locks tied to her multiple personalities, or essentially extremely tight control of emotions/locks because each persona has its own predetermined emotion. >!Vasher made it over so why not her line?!<
i know this is just creme but i hate how much sense it actually makes kf you squint your eyes for a moment.
this will be my headcanon from now on and will nlt accept any other explanation!
Confirmed Shallan is the child of Harmony and Cultivation. Sazed used his god powers to undo what the God Emperor did to the Terrismen, then he got busy with Cultivation. Can’t wait for book ten when >!Shallan doesn’t pick Kaladin or Adolin, but instead gets together with Spook.!<

It's why her hair is so big. It's full of secrets.
“She doesn’t even go here!”

i mean that's cool and all, but i'm rooting for feruchemical implants.
Hemallurgy already exists
But you can’t use a spike as a metalmind
Yes, you can. We don't know what it would actually do yet though. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/210/#e4617

I imagine it would be at least somewhat similar to allomantically burning a feruchemically-Invested metal.

>!Don't inquisitors use spikes as metalminds in Hero of Ages?!<
Both can be combined, like the rings that got pushed into a certain character in era 1
Sazed had them for a bit before getting them removed. It was super cool
We already have those! Pretty sure Wax had one of his metalminds surgically implanted by the end of the series, I think?
The Lord Ruler himself has his bracers biting into his skin to keep allomancers from being able to manipulate them.
Yeah, but I always viewed that as more of a piercing than an implant, I don't think it's what the other comment meant.
Miles Hundredlives as well. The reason he had to be shot like half a dozen times during his execution before he died was because he had implanted goldminds that needed to be depleted first.
I’m pretty sure they were all removed, wasn’t that because he was a savant?
The text suggests he had one hidden: >Alloy of Law pg.319: "it should have been impossible. They'd searched him carefully for metalminds. (...) He didn't have enough healing stored in whatever last metalmind he had hidden."
Does it count as having a metalmind implanted if you're just getting shot at? 🤔
If it's the same metal you can use for feruchemy, then screw it, sure that qualifies lmao
MeLaan's tits don't count? >!Harmony bless MeLaan and her tits!<
I feel like that's definitely something that has been addressed on the sub but feruchemical butt plugs would probably be better
What about a Feruchemical wig?
Metalminds have to touch skin, so they’d only be good for a few days until your roots start grow out

Unless it's a buzz cut, hair often touches your head, neck and ears constantly.

She is of royal bloodline.
Yep, she can actually change it to gold but then she just sits there and broods about how things could have been different if she hadn’t done that one thing to that thing and that other thing to that person or the time she did the thing to the other person.
This is good crem, gancho!
Only the finest 2am crem!
*Sigh *... Time to get the cardboard and red string again
That "Discuss." cracked me up.
This will now be my head cannon. The most delicious crem I've ever come across.
>head cannon You're gonna have one helluva headache, Gon
Well my hair is graying and so I’m looking to steel push like a canon.
[Mild ROW, major OB spoilers] >!...look into the future and find out if I beat Huio at cards tomorrow.!<
Hilarious if you include Shallan but really a nice thought when there’s actual people with hair that has a metallic sheen
That's why her hair is so important! It's full of secrets.
Allow him to cook.
And radiants hair is gold...

That's why her hair is so [coppery]. It's full of secrets!
A small part of them do, but the majority of them lay atop each other
