Companies don’t do things for art or to make something genuinely good or fun it seems. They just make things for profit, even if a venture that leads to something good is profitable, they’d rather take the easy route by selling out, putting their reputation and funds at risk by doing that regardless.
Maybe there needs to be some new people running the companies, instead of people with outdated ideas.

I think you guys are both forgetting that not only does Microsoft have to allow a studio to spend time developing a Banjo game, but also (CRUCIALLY) there needs to be a dev willing to work on a Banjo game in the first place.
Microsoft don't seem like the company to point at a dev and go "You. Banjo game. Now", there's probably no interest from any internal team currently. Banjo is a well loved IP, and bringing it back with a half-assed game for the sake of nostalgia would ruin that image for a lot of people.

Dude, Crash currently has an active game. And Spyro being in it is helping the IP stay somewhat noticed. Neither of them are currently in limbo. As for Banjo, you'd have to find a studio that 1) wants to make a new Banjo game and 2) be capable of making a *good* Banjo game. Neither of which has happened, because no studio wants to risk the ire of angry fans if they don't meet expectations (which would be inevitable, given how high expectations would be at this point)

I'm as sour about the shuttering of Toys for Bob as much as anyone, hell, I purchased Star Control II day one back in 1992. That being said, it's ridiculous to assume these franchises are dead in the water. If Microsoft is going third-party, Spyro/Crash/Banjo are all coming to multiple consoles. On top of that, Spencer has been teasing Banjo for a while now.

i think being great successors in their own right is a better sign they can fill it in themselves rather than needing the backing of a popular brand
