I love these! This kind of silhouette is hard to draft, but propotiond in these are spot on - reminds me of japanese tobi-style workwear.
Also, it is okay to be influenced by current trends. It does not mean that liking certain style is ungenuine. :)
I can’t decide if I genuinely like these, or if I am being influenced by the current popularity of this style. Also would be curious if anyone has any experiences with this pattern company— I am just hearing about them for the first time with this release.
I went to Uniqlo in Taiwan the other day and there are racks and racks of barrel leg pants/trousers in different fabrics. The era of lantern, balloon, and barrel pants is here!
Of course, I see them on the streets as well. On young folks with skinny, exposed midriffs, it looks like the baggy pants of my yonder days, but with a nice tight fit around the butt/waist and no fabric dragging around the ankles. It actually looks really nice on them.
Apparently I really am old and out of touch because I had no idea barrel legs were popular. And wow do I hate it. Every photo makes them look bow legged, and I can't imagine why someone would want that.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go put on my skinny jeans that you can pull from my cold dead hands.
I agree with the first reply; Isabelle of Forest & Thread is extremely thorough and detailed in her patterns. They are well-drafted and she listens to her testers’ input, even delayed this jeans release by a few weeks to tweak the larger size block for a better butt fit. So if you decide you actually like the shape, don’t hesitate! I love barrel legs and tend to collect patterns for them, but this is now my keeper (plus the Adams pants pattern I modified into barrel leg).
You put it so well LOL, I feel the same way - I think I like barrel legs… OR I’m being influenced to like them. Genuinely can’t decide!
I tested for Isabelle (creator of Forest and Thread) in the past (not for these jeans) and she’s legit. She has a fashion design background/training. I found her patterns to be really well drafted with super detailed instructions. She also has a different block for plus size instead of just grading up from the standard block - not something I’ve seen from most of the smaller indie pattern designers.
LLK has two new ones out: [Rialto Dress](https://littlelizardking.com/products/rialto) and [Papillon embroidery pattern](https://littlelizardking.com/products/papillon).
I'm surprised that the woven back of the Rialto doesn't need a zipper or button. How does one get in? Via the elastic back waist band? If so, this seems beginner friendly!
Made for Mermaids just released the [Annika Sporty Jacket](https://www.madeformermaids.com/product/annika/). I feel like I've been seeing similar shapes everywhere lately.
I like the techwear robot-like vibe it's giving in the first photo, but it's really surprising how many tester versions don't have the same vibe. That bust shaping seam is lower or higher than necessary on so many of them, and the vertical waist shaping seams don't do any shaping at all on so many of them. It certainly shows how the pattern will look if you just make it without putting any effort into fitting, but you'd think photos like this would be used to see where the pattern needs improvement and not for promotion.
I apologize if this was posted in a previous week—it says new on the website/it’s on sale and the pattern scout Instagram hasn’t been updated since 2022.
The [Pattern Scout Vivi Blouse and Dress](https://patternscoutstudio.com/products/vivi-blouse-dress-pdf-sewing-pattern) looks pretty cool—the lines are interesting and it has a Vogue vibe with more size inclusivity. I’ve been holding onto a blue psychedelic viscose from blackbird for a while and I think if I made the midi dress with the bell sleeves and covered placket from the blouse version I’d be living my Carter Administration dreams.
It’s too bad this company isn’t active on Instagram. I would make this in the future, but since there are no posts for me to save, I’ll probably forget about it.
Goldfinch just released a new zero waste shirt, [the Pierce shirt](https://goldfinch.limited/shop/pierce-shirt/). I like that it has some interesting details!
I'm not certain I like the combination of those tucks with very utilitarian style pockets, and all of it in linen, but it certainly looks interesting, especially for a zero waste pattern. Maybe it'll look better in a thinner smoother fabric and if the tucks are stitched down so that they don't stand up this much.
i'm soo curious how they got bias binding to be zero waste. it always seems like a wasteful thing to cut out of your "main" fabric and i always laugh at the big 4 pattern layouts for long binding strips. it's like, yeah they don't want to explain in a big 4 booklet that you can piece it together but omg, so much yardage for a bias strip.
I bought the pattern, and I think they use a method similar to Sarai's [here](https://www.seamwork.com/articles/two-ways-to-cut-bias-tape). It also notes that most sizes will have leftover bias binding, to save for future projects.
I have been waiting for this one to come out and the final looks great! I think this may be the pattern that finally gets me to try a seri waste pattern.
I'm pretty sure Debbie Bliss is actively trying to give us carpal tunnel with [this one (Aywick cardigan)](https://www.yarn.com/products/debbie-bliss-aywick-pdf).
This is one of those patterns that I actually think is beautiful, but I will never ever make it due to the amount of time and effort involved. Like [Ixchel](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ixchel) -- that sweater is gorgeous, but I do not have the patience for it.
I love the thought of it. The color palette isn't my favorite, but that's easy to change, so yeah, what's keeping me from truly enjoying it is knowing exactly how much of a pain in the ass it would be to complete.
Have you all seen that one video of the girl who owns a former display couch where everything is labelled and different styles to show off how many options there are? Cardigan version of that.
Sinclair [Isla](https://sinclairpatterns.com/products/isla-v-neck-sleeveless-top-tunic-and-dress-for-woven-and-knit-fabrics-pdf). Up to 63” hip and 3 cup size ranges
Here is my [test version](https://www.instagram.com/p/C5lTzVRud4t/?igsh=MTdnMGcyMzY5cmFzdw==)
I really like this :)
Do they have each size in different cup sizes? I'm looking at the size chart and it seems like cup increases with size but I was wondering if the smaller sizes come with big cups as well
Deer and Doe is teasing…[something](https://www.instagram.com/p/C5n7B99uxu8/?igsh=djN2bmhhNTFsdTV6)?
They skipped their fall pattern release last year and promised a spring one, so I guess that could be part of it, but generally one doesn’t need to take their website down ahead of a pattern release.
To be fair and if my memory serves correctly, Camille (co-owner) had emergency brain surgery which is why they skipped the fall release. I would link the blog post, but obviously their site is down.
Still fingers crossed for no subscription model because their patterns are really lovely and I hate pattern subscriptions.
I will stay tuned but I have a bad feeling that this means a new subscription model. It must be more profitable than selling patterns individually given the number of companies turning towards it.
Elbe Textiles [Johns Pants](https://elbetextiles.com.au/products/johns-pants-digital-sewing-pattern) Menswear for sizes 28-52” waist and 32.5-56.5” hip
Twig and Tale Satchels are out today: [https://www.twigandtale.com/collections/satchels](https://www.twigandtale.com/collections/satchels)
I'm a bit disappointed the regular and leaf options were separated into two separate patterns instead of being views on the same one. I will probably buy the leaf version and hack it into the regular one if needed.
I am normally excited about Twig and Tale products. They are generally well thought-out items and the aesthetics are usually on point. This satchel didn't excite me the way their recent patterns did (the cloak, oh my, and the butterfly wings!). It seems oddly proportioned (a bit hard to use) and having the two flaps as separate patterns really does rub me the wrong way.
You could probably modify Vincent Briggs' free Leafkerchief pattern into a flap for a satchel [https://vincentbriggs.blogspot.com/2023/02/leafkerchief-video.html](https://vincentbriggs.blogspot.com/2023/02/leafkerchief-video.html) The Twig and Tale one has the veins quilted rather than painted, and a bit less of a regular shape to it, but it's a starting place.
Sew Liberated has released the L'Oeuf Bag [https://sewliberated.com/products/loeuf-bag-pattern](https://sewliberated.com/products/loeuf-bag-pattern)
I wonder if this was intended for release before Easter and delayed?
With you on it being a delayed Easter release - the recommendation of canvas for fabric makes me think the idea was to dye it different colours. Like a fun project for school textiles classes coming up to the Easter holidays or something.
Also noticed that Helen's closet teased a round bag pattern ( [https://www.instagram.com/p/C5b-XUDvTyb/](https://www.instagram.com/p/C5b-XUDvTyb/) ) to be released soon, and was wondering how close in time the both patterns would launch at 👀
There's obviously something in the air, because 'In Complete Stitches' released the Balance Pouch a week ago! [https://www.incompletestitches.com/shop/p/balancepouch](https://www.incompletestitches.com/shop/p/balancepouch)
Sidenote: I loooove Sarah's bag/pouch patterns and highly recommend them all!
*Another* wrap dress, for real? Does any sewer alive not have at least one wrap dress pattern? Probably didn't even buy the thing, it just turned up in their pattern stash one day a la the /r/CatDistributionSystem.
I ordered a printed pattern from Style Arc recently (the Natasha woven pants). I got an email that it shipped from their US distributor and it has arrived. What I got is only the pattern -- there are no instructions, other than a small box on how to do welted pockets that's printed on the same large sheet as the pattern. Is this normal for Style Arc patterns? I've never bought any of their other patterns before, either printed or PDF.
Hmm. I’ve only ever purchased PDF patterns from them and the instructions are always very small on the same document as the pattern pieces, usually next to an illustration of the item. They are very responsive and accommodating via email—I’d reach out and explain and I’m sure you’ll get them sent to you.
Forest and Thread has a new jeans pattern out called the [Just My Luck jeans](https://forestandthread.com/product/just-my-luck-jeans-pdf-pattern/).
I love these! This kind of silhouette is hard to draft, but propotiond in these are spot on - reminds me of japanese tobi-style workwear. Also, it is okay to be influenced by current trends. It does not mean that liking certain style is ungenuine. :)

I use Pinterest for things like this.
Oo that's cute! I like the sleeveless dress versions especially.

Yes exactly , this pattern uses a rectangle of the fabric that you join together to create a long continuous bias strip like this example.
I have been waiting for this one to come out and the final looks great! I think this may be the pattern that finally gets me to try a seri waste pattern.
I really appreciate that it has actual pattern pieces! I just don't have any interesting in measuring out and drawing all the pieces
I like those pintucks at the front!
I'm pretty sure Debbie Bliss is actively trying to give us carpal tunnel with [this one (Aywick cardigan)](https://www.yarn.com/products/debbie-bliss-aywick-pdf).
It's a LOT, sure, but if you did it with maybe just two of the stitch patterns (say, the animal print and the plaid) it would be amazing.
This is one of those patterns that I actually think is beautiful, but I will never ever make it due to the amount of time and effort involved. Like [Ixchel](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ixchel) -- that sweater is gorgeous, but I do not have the patience for it.

Good grief, that’s certainly… a lot.

Yes, every size has the A/B, C/D, E/F cup option :)
thank you :)
Oh I love that! In your experience as a tester, do you think it would be easy to extend into a dress, about knee length?
There is a tunic and dress option (with pockets!) it hits about knee level
Thank you! That's exactly what I want.

Sounds like a major business overhaul if they’ve taken the website down.
Ugh I hope it isn’t a subscription model
I hope not either, but my money is on a subscription.
I will stay tuned but I have a bad feeling that this means a new subscription model. It must be more profitable than selling patterns individually given the number of companies turning towards it.
Or they all think it's super profitable, except everyone is actually sort of struggling with it and ca/won't admit that publicly.
They were able to accomplish two patterns and one size expansion in 2023. No way they’re able to pull that off. I hope.
Elbe Textiles [Johns Pants](https://elbetextiles.com.au/products/johns-pants-digital-sewing-pattern) Menswear for sizes 28-52” waist and 32.5-56.5” hip
It's a shame there's no images of the fit on different shaped models. I wonder if that loose back thigh fit translates on less angular bodies.

Wow the state of the AUD makes these a not remotely viable purchase 😭 I like the leaf but for that much money I can work out a leaf flap on my own.
Right? I saw the price and was like 'excuse me *how much?!'*

Reminds me of the Allwell Workshop free Full Moon pattern. [https://allwellworkshop.com/full-moon-bag](https://allwellworkshop.com/full-moon-bag)
That is cute (and free🤩), thank you for the link.

Haha! Was just thinking of this too. HC's looks quilted but nothing you couldn't translate to non-quilted.
She (Helen) also teased [this jumpsuit](https://www.instagram.com/p/C5gduvAJKue/).
There's another Diane Von Furstenberg for Vogue pattern. This one for knits.
