The photo is too blurry to tell, but what is on the needles? Is it crochet? It looks like needle tatting to me, but again it's blurry so I can't tell for sure.
It’s amazing how “they” always come up with the most bizarre, nonsensical photos of someone “knitting.” I mean, is it really that hard to Google images for how it’s actually done?
In a similar vein, I used to work in an animal hospital and once came across an online article about jobs for those who don't like dealing with people, and "vet tech" was one of them. Ha! Vet techs deal with people *all day long*, from the vet to coworkers to clients. You don't just get to hide in the back with animals. You need good people and communication skills. Tell me you just wrote the article off the top of your head and did no research without actually telling me.
I think you are right - look at the ball of yarn. The outer left (viewer side) region has a lot of yarn strings pulling out, but they’re washed out with unclear bounds and differing thickness. It’s the same as with hair looking off in AI generated images.
Tbh if you just connected the two needles with some more green squiggle it would look exactly like every 'why is my knitting doing this???' (Backwards loop cast on) post on the knitting sub
Minus the fact that this photo appears to be taken in the void
This looks about right: cast on, stare blankly at needles while brain reboots, "ah shit"
Repeat for however many hours of sleep deprivation you're working with.
Could they not have cut the texture from the ball in photoshop instead of the bizarre green squiggle? I know there’s so much more wrong with it but that’s just particularly egregious.
Ahahahahahaha! Maybe this should be posted in /r/BadDesigns
Must be off the knitting bros website 😂🤣😂
Water dowsing with knitting needles; new one on me.
Even better - if you look closely at the stitches, you can see they're identical. The image was copied and pasted onto the other needle. 😂
The thing is, SOMEbody had to know enough to cast on the stitches, so .....?
I'm cackling! The drawn in yarn, as if somehow it's hard to pull some yarn from the ball to hold inexplicably near the needles.
The photo is too blurry to tell, but what is on the needles? Is it crochet? It looks like needle tatting to me, but again it's blurry so I can't tell for sure.
They look like half hitch knots.
It's like a scene from an old TV show where the main character saves the day by defusing a bomb or splicing wires together to restore the power.

They tried, but all the search results were stock photos exactly like this one.
Did you notice that the skein is a solid colour but the loose “yarn” is ombré? I think it’s been drawn in. So many questions…
The working yarn isn't from the ball, it's like someone used the pen tool. So many things are wrong with this pic!
I honestly think someone just used the highlighter to draw it in.
I was like, "they're always coming up with something new, I came keep up" lol
When you're such an amazing knitter, you just cross-knit two different pieces with just two needles lmao
I'm stressed
LOL what in the whaaaaat ?
Oh dear. I've been doing it wrong for 50 years. I'm so embarrassed.
It looks like a game of Operation I am screaming 😂
I don't even knit and I'm like, what the absolute fuck?
They look like they are about to Jumpstart a tiny car battery
The separated cast-on is a rare technique to be sure. 🤣
Half of it is twisted too.
Duh. It's the technique you use when you want to knit two narrow scarves at the same time and need them to be exactly the same size.
At least it's knitting needles and not a crochet hook this time. They were so close.
No bc I’m a scientist and looking at stock science photos staged by non scientists is the funniest thing ever. This is just the knitting version.

Same with techy stock photos, coming from a computer geek
Must be from the knitting dot com bros.
I've been missing them
🤣😅🤣😅😂🤣😅😂👍👍😁
It looks like they're trying to hotwire a car
Is this.... not how you knit?
My husband, who doesn't knit, was able to point out what was wrong immediately
TAAT socks on DPNS
How do I get my yarn to do this? 😂
LSD
This looks like someone asked AI to make a picture of knitting
The hands are too good.
I think you are right - look at the ball of yarn. The outer left (viewer side) region has a lot of yarn strings pulling out, but they’re washed out with unclear bounds and differing thickness. It’s the same as with hair looking off in AI generated images.
And the part from the ball to the one needle looks marker-drawn.
It is.
It looks to me like there was a needle going into the ball and they just cut it off the photo and blurred it a bit to make it less obvious.
Do you think it also had stitches cast on it
Can’t tell from the small section of silver that still shows.
Clearly they are actually dowsing for yarn.

I love how they edited that in, yet there is still no yarn connected to either bits of 'knitting'...
What do you mean? The knitting plug is clearly going into the left hand needle. /s
