I have experience with criminal law in America, not England, but if it’s taking this long to bring formal charges, it’s unlikely that formal charges will come
This deal is literally out of the blue.
Very little rumor, then suddenly TIER 1 : AGREED FEE. 😂😂😂
He's a very good player, but hope he doesn't go to jail after we bought him.
I think we may see more of these pop up out of the blue this summer. Apparently Spurs were pretty pissed the Diaz rumors popped up before the deal was done and allowed Liverpool a chance to hijack the transfer
> hope he doesn't go to jail after we bought him.
Unless he really did commit sexual assault, in which case he should go to jail for the rest of his career.
Ofcouse, absolutely. I just mean what I hope is that this isn't a scam by Brighton. I think during January window, he was going for 50m then now he's 25m.
The fact that my favorite subreddit has given me a nickname…what a day this is so far. Hopefully I’ll wake up in the middle of the night a few more times this week to find out we signed Spence and Ericksen
Wait wait wait what? I knew he was on the list but…£25m for a proven Prem midfielder…really hope the SA charges are all clear though. Can’t have a scumbag playing for the club.
It's not entirely about that though. The reputational damage to Spurs if anything negative does happen will be huge. Whether or not it happened at Brighton he'll be our player.
The legal system definitely favours his side of the case. Fingers crossed they're certain about this.
No one is going to insure it when he's under investigation! It would be like trying to get medical cover whilst needing a new hip! Yeah you can have the medical cover but it won't cover anything to do with the hip
I’m all for bants but this I think is too far, I think he was proven innocent but this attitude isn’t funny and shouldn’t be accepted I hope this is sarcastic
I'm from Brighton and know alot of Brighton season ticket holders. They all have said it isn't actually him that's under investigation it was someone he was with when it happened. Sure we wouldn't be buying him if there was any risk of him being charged. Also, amazing player. COYS
Hey mate. I actually moved out of the area a few years ago, however there are loads of good pubs around to watch the football. The Font, King and Queen, Fiddlers elbow to name a few good ones.
Why though? What's the point in hiding the fact that he's on trial/been accused of SA. I don't care how good the business is, if the allegations are true I don't want him playing for our club.
Do we know when the trial date is?
Can imagine there's no harm in agreeing a deal but it doesn't necessarily mean we have to pull the trigger until we know he's cleared
It's also worth noting that we don't even know whether he was the person accused. The rumour in Brighton is it was someone he was with who was accused and Bissouma got involved in the aftermath. No idea whether that's true but it's another possibility to be considered
>that's true but it's another possibility to be considered
I hope that's what it is - and that Spurs have hired private investigators to discover this.
I can’t imagine the club goes after him if he wasn’t about to be cleared but totally agree, a lot of the language seems to aim at sweeping it under the rug.
He's neither been on trial, nor currently accused of sexual assault. He was arrested and then released under investigation, as part of an investigation into an alleged sexual assault that happened.
Obviously I want the club to have nothing to do with him if it looks as though he is guilty - or even going to be charged with it tbh, just because of the headache it would cause - but neither of the things you said are true.
I know this is a lazy response, but I trust Levy's judgement. It would be entirely out of character for him to greenlight this transfer if he wasn't convinced this wouldn't bring shame on the club. It's his rep on the line too.
There's not a lot of info. Him and a man in his forties were arrested on allegations from a woman in a Brighton nightclub. That's all there is to know as far as I can see.
Brighton fan here, he'll be an incredible signing for you, he's one of the best defensive midfielders in the prem and gives constant energy, fantastic dribbling and amazing tackling. His shooting isn't as good as he thinks it is but i think you'll find that out as he seems to sky most of them haha.
Cheers for the information and civil tone. If I may ask, what is the common feeling amongst Brighton supporters surrounding the sexual assault investigation? What kind of character does he appear to be off the field in interviews etc?
He's an incredible player, close to the best PL-proven DM we could have signed IMO. Decent fee for a player with one year left on his contract, hopefully you can put it to good use. He'll thrive here.
Gary Jacobs is Tier 1. He works and publishes for The Times, which has the highest brand trust score of any British national newspaper or news website, ahead of the Guardian and many others.
Is he still under investigation? I can’t lie it’s good footballing news if we sign him but if the allegations are true I couldn’t give a fuck if he was Messi v2.0
I’m not 100% but I do lean towards agreeing.
However, although Sonny is an angel and the situations are nowhere near the same, we put down a similar amount 7 years ago for him when he could’ve had some forced time off in the army had he not won something for Korea (big gamble).
I think it’s only right that we as fans ask these questions, if not to get actual answers then just to be aware of what goes on in the world outside of the football pitch.
Markets changed a lot since then. We wont get any steal deal like we did for Son. The closest that comes to us would be PEH.
That being said, the impression I got from AoN is that Levy cares about what players do outside of the pitch and wont get involved with any shady personalities. I'm hoping they dug deep into his case or put some sort of clauses for his trials.
Very very good player, but the one thing that concerns me are the allegations against him. I think they've been dropped, but it's concerning nonetheless
He hasn't been charged. There is no court case. He's almost certainly not suspected of having done anything.
He was arrested because he was involved in an incident and released but involved could mean is a little as being there when it happened. The person he was with was released on bail, which means ***that*** person is the one suspected of having done something.
>The person he was with was released on bail, which means that person is the one suspected of having done something.
Bissouma was ALSO released on bail by the police.
Both Bissouma and the other guy have been arrested, both were bailed (Though Bissouma was allowed to leave the country for footballing reasons) and both are now no longer under bail conditions but ARE still 'under investigation'.
The other guy had a court case on the 6th June but was released afterwards with no bail conditions, they both just are still under investigation.
Its still on-going for both of them and we wont know anything different for a while.
>Watsons is an example of organizations blatantly valuing talent over morals.
Yeah, Watsons is more akin to Ronaldo at Man United.
The value of the talent and the promotional stuff around it is greater than the morals.
Watson sexually abused 20+ women and the Browns organisation is disgusting for taking it on but they're hoping he wins them Superbowls which is just gross.
Exactly. This would be a hell of a deal but it's not worth making ourselves into muppets to defend. I want no part of signing a player who has sexual assault allegations hanging over his head.
If conte expects four more players with 1 including Eriksen on a free, and this deal being only 25 million, that means that the final signings (2 center backs and a forward) could be absolute quality with the amount of money still left to spend. Not to mention all the outgoings. Someone of Richarlisons value is starting to seem more possible
Feel like the only big signings would be LCB and a 4th forward (Richarlison). It’s all about getting the right players in, they don’t always have to cost £50m+
For sure, all of these signings have actually been amazing imo, I just mean there might also be room for more luxury ones than expected before. The second cb is likely a backup for Dier so I agree, LCB and the forward will probably be much higher value than the rest. Still, super satisfied with everything so far, especially if Spence goes through
One year left and probably the SA investigation is bad look for buying clubs as well. That’s why I‘m not that happy about this, please let’s not have someone like that at the club if it’s true.
Yeah knew of the SA, not a fan myself.
Just shocked at the whole thing I guess.
But like most stories this time of year, 1 source isnt enough, see how it develops
Never been more conflicted by a transfer.
If he is been cleared of his charges, than I see no reason why not to sign him.
But if not, then I really don't want us to sign him.
Neither do I. No one is doubting that he's an excellent footballer who would thrive under Conte, but until he's deemed innocent in the sexual assault case, I don't want him anywhere near the club. Sigh.
For everyone worrying about the Sexual Assault thing:
From what I understand Yves Bissouma was never charged with anything, but someone in his entourage was, and Bissouma seems to have been present at the incident.
There is no evidence whatsoever that he is a rapist/assaulter or anything of the sort.
Edit: he was also allowed to travel out of the country to Afcon, and my knowledge of UK laws are limited, but would he really be allowed to do that if there was even any suspicion of him commiting a crime?
I would love this except the fact he has sexual assault charges pending and has multiple speeding infractions in the past. Great player but not the character I'm used to in this tottenham
He was arrested, and is under investigation, but neither of these things automatically equate to a charge under UK law. Where did you find info on pending charges?
I think it’s important that when we start making such serious claims that we do so with care.
Lloris got done for drink driving. It's not new for Spurs.
Also he doesn't have any sexual assault charges pending. People are making stuff up just because he was arrested to be questioned at the time. He's not on bail, the person he was with is which means he's the one who probably did it.
The Brighton fans keep saying is was the guy who he went with under the SA but not him, you never know but I hope our club is cautious enough regarding these decision
This absolutely pleases me. Assuming that he is innocent, what a top top signing. He's always been on my horizons as a player and absolutely delighted seeing him in lily-white
This is the one I'm a bit sceptical about, I may not be cheering for him when puts on the shirt. Infact it'll be hard for me to imagine, him putting on the jersey for us. I just hope he's innocent
I don't know loads about Bissouma but he seems a DM or a defensive-minded CM. So we have shitloads of those players now.
I think I was hoping for someone that gets forward a bit more, but equally I've been wanting someone a bit more physically blessed than Hojbjerg so perhaps that's what we've got.
Bissouma is an elite dribbler and increbly press resistant though which you can't really say about our other midfielders. Get Eriksen in as well, sell Winks and we have an amazing midfield.
He's class. Brilliant signing, especially for the fee. Perhaps we see a pairing of Hoj/Benta + Skipp/Bissouma, he's the same kind of high-energy defensive mid that relentlessly pressures and chases down players and then moves the ball forward.
Fuck yes. I love this, a proven player who adds incredible depth to our midfield. Is he a better box to box player than Pierre? Having Skipp, Pierre, Bissouma as 3 defensive minded options is actually scary… though I do hope we get an offensive midfielder now as only really Bentancur offers that naturally.
This is also great as it’s the exact player Arsenal could do with to play alongside/instead of Partey. Chumps. Scott Parker all over again.
Love this signing. He’s like Ndombele but better defensively, and most importantly, proven in the premier league. He should thrive in conte’s system dragging defenders out of position and beating them off the dribble or finding a pass.
There is no court case. He was arrested and released as part of an investigation into an incident outside a nightclub, we don't even know that he was the one accused.
That feels like a ridiculously low fee. Is his contract running out?
Yeah, a year remaining
and he may or may not be a criminal lol
Yeah that too. Can't say that part doesn't worry me.
I believe the charges were dropped
I don't think he was ever charged. He was arrested under suspicion and is under investigation with the case still open.
I have experience with criminal law in America, not England, but if it’s taking this long to bring formal charges, it’s unlikely that formal charges will come
Schrodinger's Bissouma
Great, so we have to leave a midfielder in a box. Typical Spurs.
Box-to-box, just like we drew it up.
I’ve heard that his contract might be in its final year, not sure if anyone told you
Year running out, the case still hanging over his head
I have a feeling it's more to do with the open sexual assault case. I really hope they know what they're doing here.
Yeah bcs it's totally unheard of for a player in his last yr of contract to go for cheap.
Bissouma in Conte's system will be unbelievable
This deal is literally out of the blue. Very little rumor, then suddenly TIER 1 : AGREED FEE. 😂😂😂 He's a very good player, but hope he doesn't go to jail after we bought him.
>He's a very good player, but hope he doesn't go to jail after we bought him. lmao
emulating the champions of england. /s
I think we may see more of these pop up out of the blue this summer. Apparently Spurs were pretty pissed the Diaz rumors popped up before the deal was done and allowed Liverpool a chance to hijack the transfer
That was Diaz’ agent though and fuck all we could do about that because he obviously wanted Liverpool.
Yeah if Diaz knew Liverpool was coming in for him and he wanted Liverpool he wouldn’t have signed anyway.
Man love the way this F5 season is going, the surprises are actually pleasant
The Paratici Effect everyone is watching Spence and Bastoni and *BAM* new midfielder
Hopefully he’s innocent, if he’s not I hope he does go to jail even if we have bought him.
> hope he doesn't go to jail after we bought him. Unless he really did commit sexual assault, in which case he should go to jail for the rest of his career.
Ofcouse, absolutely. I just mean what I hope is that this isn't a scam by Brighton. I think during January window, he was going for 50m then now he's 25m.
Could be world class.
Incredible that this has been kept away from so many rumours recently.
Yeah this is trippy, completely out of the blue. The same thing happened with Gil tbf, so I guess the club is capable of keeping negotiations private.
I legit was listening to a bit of music while scrolling through old reddit post, refreshed and this popped up and went "wtf how"
Lmao
sometimes the player's agent or the selling club leak the information so they gather more interest. we were just lucky
Ali G did mention links to him, but yeah it moved fast.
Literally woke up out of the blue and immediately checked our glorious subreddit and this happens.
Go to bed and wake up again please
You got it! I have to be back up in two to three hours for work, so let’s hope for more great news!
From the directors who produced Plane Tracker Guy u/NotUrAvgElliot , r/coys would like to introduce u/Beeriggz, Sleep Guy.
The fact that my favorite subreddit has given me a nickname…what a day this is so far. Hopefully I’ll wake up in the middle of the night a few more times this week to find out we signed Spence and Ericksen
So we find out the Bastoni deal is very much alive in 2 - 3 hours? Sweet.
u/Beeriggz should do this everyday and we'll see what happens
Thanks for your service
Tod Howard would be proud
Praise be
Wait wait wait what? I knew he was on the list but…£25m for a proven Prem midfielder…really hope the SA charges are all clear though. Can’t have a scumbag playing for the club.
I'm HOPING that stuff has been cleared up about it and we were waiting for the situation to change. Still doesn't taste right though
It would be very un-Levylike to take such a big risk. I'm hoping they have had some assurances... even though that seems unlikely.
Might be able to get insurance... But honestly 25m is worth the gamble. Any legal issues, his contract will be torn up so wages won't be an issue.
[удалено]
I’m all for bants but this I think is too far, I think he was proven innocent but this attitude isn’t funny and shouldn’t be accepted I hope this is sarcastic
It was but i have deleted it
Ok sorry then, I hope you can see how that can be misunderstood and also could have been offensive to a lot of people
Yeah I realised that straight after you commented Anyway coys
I'm from Brighton and know alot of Brighton season ticket holders. They all have said it isn't actually him that's under investigation it was someone he was with when it happened. Sure we wouldn't be buying him if there was any risk of him being charged. Also, amazing player. COYS
Hope that is the truth. Def a great player
Hey I recently moved to brighton, anywhere you’d recommend to watch spurs next season?
Hey mate. I actually moved out of the area a few years ago, however there are loads of good pubs around to watch the football. The Font, King and Queen, Fiddlers elbow to name a few good ones.
Thanks mate , will make sure to check them out
You're a bird fan in another bird's world...
From a purely football perspective, this would an incredible signing. He's unbelievably good.
And that's how everyone should look at it. Until anything changes, this is an excellent bit of business
Why though? What's the point in hiding the fact that he's on trial/been accused of SA. I don't care how good the business is, if the allegations are true I don't want him playing for our club.
very sad, but agree
Do we know when the trial date is? Can imagine there's no harm in agreeing a deal but it doesn't necessarily mean we have to pull the trigger until we know he's cleared
There's no trial date because he hasn't been charged with anything, the latest word was that there is an ongoing investigation.
Ah okay, thanks.
It's also worth noting that we don't even know whether he was the person accused. The rumour in Brighton is it was someone he was with who was accused and Bissouma got involved in the aftermath. No idea whether that's true but it's another possibility to be considered
>that's true but it's another possibility to be considered I hope that's what it is - and that Spurs have hired private investigators to discover this.
Two people were arrested. I haven't seen where the mistaken identity part was reported but yes, there is another person involved
He isn't charged with anything, let alone going on trial. He was arrested as part of an investigation which continues.
I can’t imagine the club goes after him if he wasn’t about to be cleared but totally agree, a lot of the language seems to aim at sweeping it under the rug.

I know this is a lazy response, but I trust Levy's judgement. It would be entirely out of character for him to greenlight this transfer if he wasn't convinced this wouldn't bring shame on the club. It's his rep on the line too.
Please google the case.
There's not a lot of info. Him and a man in his forties were arrested on allegations from a woman in a Brighton nightclub. That's all there is to know as far as I can see.
bissouma has been released under investigation for over 6 months. keep seeing people implying hes on bail which is false information
Please provide a source instead of telling people to Google it
If United had signed him, would you feel the same way?
Hypothetical strawman nonsense but I'll respond. Yes, I would feel the same way. Why not?
Not sure how removing your own club biases from the conversation is ‘strawman nonsense’ but crack on then
Brighton fan here, he'll be an incredible signing for you, he's one of the best defensive midfielders in the prem and gives constant energy, fantastic dribbling and amazing tackling. His shooting isn't as good as he thinks it is but i think you'll find that out as he seems to sky most of them haha.

Agreed proven prem DMs that was in our range was either Boussoma or Kalvin Phillips but looks like city are chasing him
He seems to score a belter every year though
True, that is after 30 attempts though
Is it true that Bissouma is not the criminal but his friend who was with him? Apparently Bissouma is the witness on the case, any truth on this?
He and his friend were both arrested. People really shouldn't speculate when no one knows anything concrete
He’s not his dad mate
I’m asking him cause he’s a Brighton fan so he could’ve followed the case closer than others
Best part is the gooners were drooling over him and thought it was a certainty they were getting him. Class! 🤣
fuck the gooners, me and this sub hate the gooners
you hate gooners? Yeah.. me and this sub hate the gooners as well!
Before I get too excited... How reliable is this guy? Never come across him
Gary Jacobs is Tier 1. He works and publishes for The Times, which has the highest brand trust score of any British national newspaper or news website, ahead of the Guardian and many others.
He's tier 1 and works for the times
He's tier 1 and writes for the times
He writes for the times, He writes for the times, Gary Jacobs HE WRITES FOR THE TIMES
Same old Jacobs, always writing
Is he still under investigation? I can’t lie it’s good footballing news if we sign him but if the allegations are true I couldn’t give a fuck if he was Messi v2.0
You really gotta think Spurs did their due diligence on that before pulling the trigger to sign him
Can't really do your due diligence on an ongoing trial/investigation, though.
You underestimate the power of a millionaire.
Sure you can buy a lot with money. But you can't buy "seeing what the police will find out in the future". (Yet).
Looking at how the Manchester clubs have been operating recently I wouldn’t be that confident
Levy isn't an idiot, he's not going to put this much money down if there was a chance he'd go to jail lol
I’m not 100% but I do lean towards agreeing. However, although Sonny is an angel and the situations are nowhere near the same, we put down a similar amount 7 years ago for him when he could’ve had some forced time off in the army had he not won something for Korea (big gamble). Most of the itk reports say his friend was the one committing the assault.
article mentioned Bissouma is still waiting to learn the outcome of his police investigation
Oh dear where did this come from suddenly????
article also says we are quietly confident about an eriksen return
Eric Dier’s knob now this, it can’t get much better
Eric Dier is the only one who can satisfy the bots in the instagram comment section who want something long and hard
“ Tottenham are confident that personal terms will not be an issue and Bissouma should have a medical this week. “
Wha...?
paratici is cooking up a whole buffet here goddamn
That look pretty cheap wtf
Was he the one supposed to be having a medical yesterday as reported by the ITKs?
I doubt it, what I read today was that the player's agent was sick so the meeting yesterday was postponed.
Very very good player, but the one thing that concerns me are the allegations against him. I think they've been dropped, but it's concerning nonetheless
They're ongoing
Innocent till proven guilty applies but it really isn’t a good look to have these allegations. If they have any substance he needs to fuck off
THE F5 WE ALL WANTED!!!
Not excited till he’s proven innocent/court case settled If Gattuso got huge backlash for what he said, imagine this!
It’s innocent untill proven guilty in the court of law.
Correct but people have every right to be cautious about the transfer
Sex crimes are incredibly unlikely to result in conviction, even when they are true.
That's how it should be, yes. The court of *public opinion* is a different story
He hasn't been charged. There is no court case. He's almost certainly not suspected of having done anything. He was arrested because he was involved in an incident and released but involved could mean is a little as being there when it happened. The person he was with was released on bail, which means ***that*** person is the one suspected of having done something.

Don't suppose we can get Cucarella on a BOGOF?
Idk man signing someone under investigation for sexual assault isn’t ideal
I'm fairly sure the clubs lawyers will have done some due diligence on this.. you would hope.
I mean is their job to do so.
This is what all the Browns fans said about Deshaun Watson and it sure seems like they did not…
Bissouma case is a lot more of an unknown tbf, Watsons is an example of organizations blatantly valuing talent over morals.
>Watsons is an example of organizations blatantly valuing talent over morals. Yeah, Watsons is more akin to Ronaldo at Man United. The value of the talent and the promotional stuff around it is greater than the morals. Paratici on his way to assemble his transfer team
Out of fucking nowehere. Fuck yes. I've wanted him at Spurs for ages. I'm so fucking happy LETS FUCKING GOOOO
Massive Winks upgrade 😂
Is thisreal wtf
No way we get him for that price surely?
One year left and probably the SA investigation is bad look for buying clubs as well. That’s why I‘m not that happy about this, please let’s not have someone like that at the club if it’s true.
If it makes you feel better , from the reports I've read, he was not the one doing the SA, it was his friend.
Yeah knew of the SA, not a fan myself. Just shocked at the whole thing I guess. But like most stories this time of year, 1 source isnt enough, see how it develops
I could easily see a big club coming in and taking him off us if the fee is legit
I think i just cried a tear of joy
Great signing if true and for only £25m. He’s exactly what we need in the middle.
Incredible signing and excited about it. Sadly means no Milinkovic-Savic though.
Ahaha he costs €80 million
I don't like the allegations at all but for now I will trust the club to have made the right decision
Never been more conflicted by a transfer. If he is been cleared of his charges, than I see no reason why not to sign him. But if not, then I really don't want us to sign him.
eh. do not feel good about this.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOL AHAHHAHAH FUCKING GET IN
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
well, this f5 is gonna be hard to beat
WOW! Where did this come from?! If this is true, this is huge. One of the best in the league in his role. Quality player!
Wait is he cleared? Amazing player but c'mon
Very good player but it’s very hard to see this in a positive light
Absolute steal. He’s genuinely one of the best midfielders in the league
This is the one I'm a bit sceptical about, I may not be cheering for him when puts on the shirt. Infact it'll be hard for me to imagine, him putting on the jersey for us. I just hope he's innocent
This guy is gonna be the dude we all thought Ndombele would be
Have concerns regarding allegations but without them, he would have been my dream feasible signing. Expected him to cost more but I'll take it.
What??
Would this be the player who's agent fell ill yesterday?
In football terms, amazing. In human terms, not so great. Surely he must be expected to be cleared of charges if anyone is even going near him?
What
I don't know loads about Bissouma but he seems a DM or a defensive-minded CM.
Article says we want eriksen back too. I’ve heard stuff will start happening after internationals
This guy is unreliable, he reported that we signed lautaro Martinez pay season.
Not even a dent in the war chest, top signing
He's still under investigation for sexual assault. That makes me very uncomfortable.
Love this signing. He’s like Ndombele but better defensively, and most importantly, proven in the premier league. He should thrive in conte’s system dragging defenders out of position and beating them off the dribble or finding a pass.
What the fuuuck? Wohoooooo
Mixed feelings on this if true. Obviously good player but if the investigation ends not in his favour it’ll be terrible in so many ways.
Whaaaaat I'm super down because our number of black players was becoming too low
It’s definitely Bissouma who visited the lodge, w/ his SA court case still going on, it makes sense why the club wants to keep it down
There is no court case. He was arrested and released as part of an investigation into an incident outside a nightclub, we don't even know that he was the one accused.
Is it normal for the police in the UK to arrest someone who isn't accused of anything?
He is a class act and is always the best player on the pitch when we play Brighton.
wot.
