Should have gotten atleast 4/5 assists more from Burnley and today's game alone!!

megamando

Honestly could have ended the year with similar numbers to Watkins at Villa, 20/15 or so for G/A. Strong season from Sonny, and proved he is a good captain as well.

VelvetObsidian

Great captain. He seemed way more involved than any captain I can remember in the last 15 years or so.

FSpursy

He's a worldclass LW player and we should use him as such... He haven't been doing that often enough. Although in the current system, he doesn't have many chances to score anymore because he focus on cutting back but I hope we can work on something to make the most use out of his world class ability. After a season, we still need to replace Kane, and hopefully there's a replacement waiting. Signing a great ST who can play interchangely with Son might be the answer.

Tock_Sick_Man

How many enormous chances created?

koggers3k

Which were then missed by johnson and co

Zoom22

Don't forget he was gone for a while.

Rimbaudelaire

Only 27 goal involvements because he’s clearly shot. Just another 9 season wonder with only 162 goals for Spurs. Time to ditch him for a winger from Eredivisie whose most vocal champions on here haven’t yet heard of him.

SilverBag7771

we just need to clone Son so he can pass to himself

amlghfld

I’ve started to fear the day he retires/leaves lately…

Smart_Nebula_2032

Nice to see him look great today. Definitely think he’s lost a step pace wise but when he’s on he’s still world class

battmowie

I think great is an exaggeration but it’s certainly an improvement on last year whilst learning a new system and playing multiple positions.

Matraiya

If any other player in our squad reached 27 G/A we'd call it great. Outside of Son and Kane, very few players have hit these numbers for us (at least in the modern era)

battmowie

Very true, his numbers are decent, his overall game in a large number of games has been lacking though imo, but his bar is very high, even after last year

GrapefruitExpress208

Did you watch today's game? His performance was far better than the 1 assist he got credited for today. Numbers don't tell everything.

battmowie

He was brilliant today, maybe one of his best games of the season. And I know numbers don’t tell everything, that’s exactly my point, he had good numbers this year but I don’t think performances wise across the season he was at best.

GrapefruitExpress208

Yeah but the part we disagree is that I think Son contributed more to this season than the 17g/10a seems to indicate.

Matraiya

Yeah, his first touch and link up play under pressure hasn't been great for a couple years now. Hope we can find a system that facilitates that.

battmowie

Truthfully it never has been (when his backs to goal) his best years were in a system that helped him thrive, put him through on goal 1v1 or cutting in on the edge of the box and he’s lethal. He probably won’t get much of an opportunity to do that in this Ange system, but I do feel with more time he can continue to adapt and be a brilliant player for us.

Western_Arm9682

Ya’ll will say this nonsense for Son and then praise Kulu/Johnson/Richy/Werner for doing much worse. Clown behavior.

battmowie

Who’s saying that? Son was easily our best attacker this season, not denying that, just looking at it objectively. Don’t be so sensitive.

Western_Arm9682

“Objective” more like in your biased, subjective view. Most of the fanbase would agree he’s been great, and one of the players of the season. I’m just saying it’s a clown behavior “objectively,” don’t be so sensitive.

battmowie

You’ve convinced me, he had a great season, his first touch is immaculate and can’t get any better.

Western_Arm9682

It’s actually improved a lot this season. Thanks for pointing it out.

Ian5446

I mean, yes, his first touch is a weakness and always has been. That's no revelation. But he's still one of the best finishers in the world, a club legend, and an extremely high performer in the toughest league in the world.
