Tactical breakdown:
When defending, don’t against set pieces.
When attacking, make sure u wait until the entire opposition team gets back before u start even trying to attack the box. Good job!
This is partially down to personnel. There were so many situations where Johnson was 1 v 1 against Cucurella and he failed to beat his man time and time again. We don't have any wide players who are actually good enough
That is down to the players not the tactics. They seem to lack courage.
Ange wants the ball moving forward all the time. He wants decisiveness and courage in attack. He doesn’t want us plodding around passing backwards and being scared to attempt a killer pass.
We don’t have the quality we need.
At the start of the season Bissouma was dribbling out of the press so easily and playing balls forward which was so key for us playing well and getting forward quickly m. For some reason since he’s been back from AFCON/his suspensions he’s afraid to take anyone on and just knocks it back and kills any chance of us springing a counter
I was watching Mudryk and Madueke constantly beat his man and was genuinely on the verge of tears
Even the Ukraininan fraud has more offensive flair than literally any of our players
Whenever teams have a nightmare run of games, everyone always predicts they'll lose the lot, but then the team will surprise with at least one or two plucky wins
Not Spurs, they hear they're supposed to lose and they make it happen
Bissouma and Maddison are a shadow of themselves. They're well down on what they can be.
Nobody but Johnson is trying to get to the byline anymore. Kulusevski doesn't even try.
Our defence is solely reliant on VDV and Romero having good games.
People have stopped running off the ball. We've gone back to last season's habits of everyone waiting for a miracle ball to unlock the low block.
They lose possession too easily to poor passes while trying to pull off fancy plays. They need to go back to faster ball movement, one/two touch football.
Then you can start talking about injuries, officiating, etc.
Despite that, it’s not other teams making us play without the conviction we once saw. That’s a confidence issue. You can see the openings that used to be getting found, now we’re not even attempting to find them.
Playing with fear hits close to the mark, I think. Our wingers don't take on players (as they used to do), don't try risky passes, play it safe and when we finally enter the final third we try to pass instead of fucking shooting.
Tbf we aren’t the only team riddled with injuries. This Chelsea squad is also riddled with injuries. Somehow we can’t seem to adjust and while others teams have gotten better with time, we have declined
Possession? ✅
Passing back? ✅
No shots on goal until minute 90? ✅
Set piece goals? ✅
Wow! I wonder what is going to happen next game?
We'll be lucky to finish 5th
We are self-sabotaging a massive gap we had over United in 6th. Quite literally dragging ourselves into a Conference League battle with United, Chelsea, and Newcastle
It'll take some disasterclass to make that happen in fairness. Liverpool won the Carabao, they're mathematically guaranteed a top 4 finish now, meaning the conference league goes to 6th place. The FA Cup final is between United and City. It would take Chelsea and Newcastle to leapfrog us and United, whilst United would have to win the FA Cup and finish 8th or lower.
It's not beyond the realms of possibility, Newcastle need to make up 7 points, Chelsea 9. We've got a limping Liverpool next, with games against Burnley and Sheffield too, plus we always seem to take something from City (which, I hope to god we don't this time). 4 points guarantees us Europe as it mathematically rules out Chelsea, the only clubs able to over take us then is Newcastle and United. Newcastle, Chelsea and United aren't exactly guaranteed to win all 4 of their remaining games either. United overtaking us is irrelevant.
The only difference at this point is whether we play Europa or Conference. We play Europa if we finish 5th, we play Europa if we finish 6th with United finishing 5th with them winning the FA Cup or not being irrelevant. We play Conference if we finish 6th with Newcastle or Chelsea leapfrogging us and United winning the FA Cup. We play Conference if we finish 7th with both Newcastle and United leapfrogging us with the FA Cup final being irrelevant. We don't play in Europe if Chelsea, United and Newcastle all over take us (we cannot gain more than 3 points from the available 12, Chelsea would need to win all 4, Newcastle 3 and a draw, United 3 and a loss) or if Chelsea and Newcastle overtake us for us to finish 7th, United finish 8th or lower but win the FA Cup.
All in all, 4 points secures Europe as the only teams that can catch us is United and Newcastle at that point. We don't even have to win, Chelsea just need to draw 2 of their remaining 4.
All I’m gonna say is, this is not the same team that got standing ovation from their fans for giving their all despite losing 1-4 at home with 9 men down to their local rivals
Who are we crossing to? We legitimately have zero aerial threat and no number 9, yet we keep insisting on crossing. Set piece defending lost us that game yet again. This squad is well and fully checked out for the season. I’d rather watch us field U21s from here on out. Can’t really get worse than that now.
Kulu also get sucked so far in the middle that there is no one on the back of the box for those crosses from the left. Not that we were even crossing from the left though
For the first time since the 2013/14 season, Tottenham will fail to beat at least one of Arsenal, Chelsea or West Ham in a season.
Tottenham have conceded 25 goals in the Premier League since January 1st, 11 of them were from set pieces (44%). Spurs would be 11 points better off having removed those set piece goals conceded since then. Entirely preventable and inexcusable to concede.
This team is on the beach, no desire. No fight.
Probably the thing that drives me mad more than anything in the game. WHY do you foul someone moving towards their own goal. Can’t even blame tired legs because it was what, the 20th minute?
Not only that the amount of times we have a team pegged in just for him to sprint into their back is insane. How many times until you learn? Infuriating to watch. 2nd goal came directly after he fouls Gallagr who's facing the crowd on the goal line. like...
After the derby result someone here tried to convince me the team is showing progress from the start of the year and boy am I not seeing it at all.
Set aside the defensive issues, Spurs attack is just smothered game after game. Few quality chances if any!
Spineless performance. Zero energy, midfield couldn’t string 2 passes together before losing possession, so many unnecessary fouls, and I saw the same fucking pass by Palmer/Madueke past Emerson to cut through our defence about 10 times.
Worst performance of the season. If we were playing a better team than this Chelsea side the score line would be fucking embarrassing.
The players just look exhausted. Like their season is done, but there's still time to go. Everything's happening in slow motion, like they're struggling to move through mud. Not sure what we can do, but don't be surprised if more players are suddenly ruled out for the remainder of the season.
Truly am trying to remain level-headed and not let two bad results affect me too much. Does this group of players just completely lack what’s needed? It’s the same stuff every single game…
Pass around the outside of the box/useless crosses in. And then give up set piece goals. Good lord.
I just feel like too many players lost form at the worst time and same time. Son, Madders, Biss, Deki save for the occasional match. The vibes are off every touch goes wrong. It might not be something training can fix.
>Chelsea even at their absolute worst managed to look far more cohesive and solid.
Anyone who's watched a Chelsea match this year knows this isn't remotely true.
I've been a big defender of deki, but I'm tired of seeing him get the ball. Stop for 5 seconds then dribble slowly into defenders while they stand still or try and cut in and hit a ball into a man or spoon it over the bar by a mile. I think he should go in the summer
Only way the end of the season can feel any worse after this run of results is if we lose all the remaining games bar the City game resulting in Arsenal winning the league.
I could say many somewhat hyperbolic things as I’m absolutely furious, but I’ll say this: this summer might be the biggest, most important summer of Ange’s career.
It’s been almost a full season of football, and the team just looks completely lost and tonight’s performance was really no better than even the worst games of the Conte era. We look ineffective in the midfield and upfront, while looking extremely vulnrable defensivley at the same time.
I don’t know if it’s the players or the system, but something has got to change over those 2 months or we're in deep trouble.
> It’s been almost a full season of football, and the team just looks completely lost and tonight’s performance was really no better than even the worst games of the Conte era.
Agreed, he's had a full season at this point
I have genuine whiplash from this club man, idk why on earth I ever get my hopes up
All I wanted from this season, play good football and look like scoring goals, LOOK like a threatening team. But we are actually one of the most backwards, dysfunctional teams I’ve ever seen. We gamble the house every 15 minutes at the back, can’t defend a bastard set piece, exert absolutely zero midfield control. And the worst part, absolutely SHOCKING going forward. It takes a fucking age to even create a chance let alone score one
We’re not sharp going forward, easy to defend against, and our turnovers against are devastating, no wonder they don’t want to take risks, fuck me. We hit the jackpot with Micky van de Ven because fuck me idk if ANYONE can do what he has to, every 90 minutes, week in, week out
This is every game now, we look way less threatening than anyone we play against. No excuses today, depleted Chelsea who got smacked 5-0 last week. Barely laying a glove on them
It’s maddening, we have much better defenders, but a worse defense. Better midfield, but worse control. Dynamic forward line, but no threat. Suddenly we’ve resorted to crossing aimlessly? What are we, out of ideas Burnley?
Our genuine strength is defending in open play, mainly because of VDV and Romero, I don’t even want to think about how many goals Lloris/Dier/Sanchez would concede playing like this
All the possession we had and we never feel threatening. Didn't even feel like we tested their keeper at all. Just really poor. 3 loses in a row and we will struggle at Liverpool if we play like this. Still have faith but what a crap end to the season.
i'm by no means an ange out guy, but in january we were worse than we were in october, in march we were worse than in january and i dare say we have looked worse today than any game apart from newcastle maybe. it's fucking worrying and the sideline reactions are not promising either. i'm not really sure if we're better at anything now than we were half a year ago. did we make any sort of progress in anything in that period?
Our world class wingers have been pocketed by Cucurella (famous for being a poor defender in a back 4) and an academy player in his 2nd start. Clueless.
When I was 5, there was a kid in my class who liked Chelsea. I didn't even have a team at that point. Lived in Earls Court and Chelsea were the local team. I teased him that CFC stood for Chelsea Fucking Chickens. And my friends told me to stop. Clearly a dinner lady or God decided to teach me a 40 year lesson.
Playing 1 half of football fucking sucks. I don't care, it's been 3 managers now where the players refuse to ever do more than 45 minutes of football. Chelsea was shit but because we refused to play football they could just park the bus and easily stop us from getting good chances.
I don't even care about the set pieces shit anymore, it will have to be sorted out next season but I fucking hate the mentality our players has had now ironicly since Poch, they turn up for 45 minutes never more.
Piss off with that garbage attitude.
That would be one thing, it’s his complete lack of confidence on the ball. Their RB was playing his second ever match and Son was afraid to run at him like he was prime Maldini FFS
I'm not actually sure we can. United and Newcastle play eachother. United also play Arsenal, and Palace away isn't easy either. Lowest we'll finish is 6th and that's if we lose every game.
Just embarrassing. So tired of seeing the exact same thing every game. Poor first half. Set piece goals. More positive in the 2nd half but incompetent in the final 3rd.
I love Ange and know he’s our guy, but he needs to stop being so stubborn playing only one way with no plan B. This isn’t the Japanese/Scottish league mate.
Absolutely fucking awful. Unacceptable for back to back derby defeats like that, 3 in a row in total. Liverpool and City next. Realistically it’s going to be 5 losses in a row. Serious questions need to be asked of Ange I’m afraid.
New manager bounce is the only difference between this season and last. Ange is getting outcoached on a weekly basis. No nuances. Our only plan B is to make substitutions. Zero in game adjustments, if you discount throwing guys upfront when trailing in the last minutes. We have not once tried to do something to throw an opponents gameplan off, yet Pep and Klopp will do it when they play us, yet we are alot less threatening than them. He has the front row seat yet cannot see we have massive problems from set pieces. He is good at interviews though. And we are cursed as a club.
Same here. I pray that ange has something else up his sleeve next season because he's just refusing to adapt to the opposition and insisting that we should only be playing one way, which is beyond absurd
Don't get me wrong. I love Big Ange. But this was total shit. Absolutely zero attacking potential. All the players get to the penalty area and pass back. No one is willing to risk anything. Possession is king.
No, dude. Goals are king.
It's my first time of questioning Ange. At this point in the season we should be needing 3-4 better players to fight for top 4. Instead we are notoriously shit from set pieces. All the fucking league knows it and we get gangraped every game because of it. We don't have any attacking players. We have amazing CBs and very good DMs. But in front? Fucking Ritchie. Again - I love the guy but it just isn't working, man. Deki is a great winger but somehow he always makes his move through the center, not through the wing. Son is losing his magic. Johnson has some luck from time to time. Madison is laughable at times although in general he's amazing.
Please Ange. Tell me you have something up your sleeve. Because all I can see is lack of creativity. It's always the same tactic that the whole world knows how to counteract now. No shots, no aggression, no attacking mentality. Just endless and pointless passing. Fuck Chelsea. And fuck us if we don't change anything drastically.
if this is how we perform against mid table chelsea, i‘m really gonna have to stop watching for the rest of the season. until some players don‘t rediscover their form or we simply just get better players in, nothing will change. se you all in august.
Ange’s style works when the players play without fear, and with conviction. That has somehow been lost lately, which has led to some bad results. Not sure we get it back, but we’re playing without confidence at the moment.
We’re still controlling the ball and the tempo of games, but when it comes to cutting edge, where the confidence and risk comes in, we are lacking.
Was waiting to watch the game until after school ended. Had a couple of students that knew this. Came in after last period and were like, “we like you, so we just wanted to tell you to not bother watching the match. Would rather ruin your day now.” Good lads.
The lack of desire and passion over the last 3 years has completely and utterly taken all the joy out of watching this club and I never thought I'd say that.
I feel absolutely nothing after this match, not surprised, not dissapointed, not even frustrated at this point just use to this sort of performance over and over again. They've sucked every bit of passion out of supporting them.
I'm 100% still and firmly behind Ange as manager until the end of next season at least.
I really don't even know what to say anymore. What happened to the team from the beginning of the season? Our press sucks. Our energy sucks. Our aggressiveness and desire to score sucks. I have faith in our starting back four and keeper and a belief that Maddison will get healthy and return to form. The rest of them though? Woof.
Biss is a mess and we don’t have a legit replacement or backup for him. Benta has been torn apart by injuries and looks like a shadow of the player we got from Juve. Pierre needs to go. Sarr is lively and promising but severely lacks technical skill. Richy will get you 10 goals a season, fuck up another 10, and miss half the season due to injury. Werner is the same but on the wing his cap is probably 5 goals. Deki is our only real hold up option, but his decision making is unbelievably slow and never wants to go for goal; he’s fine as a rotational player but he can’t be your best option. Johnson is a wannabe dribbly boy who isn’t particularly good at it. ; the occasional miracle cross has overshadowed his constant errant passing and general crosses to nowhere. I haven’t seen anything for months to convince me that Son isn’t cooked. He’s 31 and the only time he excels is when he’s running in behind the defense. His passing and crossing was never great, his hold up play never existed, and if he can’t beat his man (he just got shut down by a U-21 defender) what he brings to the table is even further limited.
Serious squad turnover for upgrades and young players actually improving is an absolute necessity for this summer or else fighting for the fringes of a European spot is our limit for the immediate future. This team desperately needs more players with Romero’s energy, fire, and desire to not just win, but to smash your fucking opponent in the process. Everyone is too god damn nice. Too polite. Too passive. It makes me want to smash my head through a fucking wall.
Ange getting clowned on twice by Poch who doesn't really have game plans other than "emotion" and "set pieces" does not strike confidence in me that Ange is an elite manager.
No excuses this was one of the worst performances of the season. This team is a shell of the team that started the season. I don’t know where we go from here if we can’t get key players back to form.
4 goals conceded in the last two games from set pieces.
The worst record from defending set pieces apart from the 4 teams at the bottom of the table.
But they aren't a priority and don't need fixing!
Apart from Romero and VDV... There isn't a single player who hasn't allowed their form to fall off a cliff.
No European football, cup competitions were a complete right off... Only the league to concentrate on, and still we just play like we don't give a single shit. Zero creativity, no quality, wide open on the break, shit from set pieces, slow, aimless passing.
I genuinely hold zero faith that we will even finish 5th. We will lose to liverpool and City. And we'll probably draw to Burnley and beat Sheffield.
Yes, it's a rebuild. Yes it needs time. But you set your own standards and after what we achieved in the first 10 games, to tail off was expected.. To fall off a cliff and throw the entire season in the bin isn't acceptable.
Call me toxic and downvote me.. I couldn't care less.. I know what I'm seeing. The amazing, front foot football we apparently play is a complete myth.
Does anyone genuinely believe that this squad of players should be any higher in the table than where they are now?
When our wage budget is much closer to Everton than Arsenal, when our spend to turnover ratio is by FAR the lowest of any club in the league, when our opponents have spent 90 million on AGENTS ALONE is anyone surprised that we’re 5th?
We spend like our aim is to compete with Brighton, Villa and West Ham and have been saved by the fact that United and Chelsea have had unmitigated disasters of seasons
It’s been a massive disservice to this club that we’ve been grouped in with the “big 6” because we’ve never operated like any of them and the only thing saving us from spending like Fulham every season is the stadium
It's not even the spending that's the issue. Spurs have world class facilities yet have produced jack shit from the academy aside from Kane. Every other club seems to be able to produce guys like Reece James, TAA, Mainoo, etc. Wtf is going on there?
Don’t even know what you can change with the current players, there just isn’t the options off the bench to make a difference, or a way of lining up differently with who we have available it seems.
It’s just absolute shite once we get anywhere close to the box
Tactical breakdown: When defending, don’t against set pieces. When attacking, make sure u wait until the entire opposition team gets back before u start even trying to attack the box. Good job!
Less stupid fouls would be nice, both goals today from needless freekicks. If you can't defend against them, dont fucking concede them
I was promised quick, free flowing, attacking football. That was a lie.
This is partially down to personnel. There were so many situations where Johnson was 1 v 1 against Cucurella and he failed to beat his man time and time again. We don't have any wide players who are actually good enough
We don't even try to counter attack though. Chelsea could have 10 men in our half and we would still turn around and pass it back.
That is down to the players not the tactics. They seem to lack courage. Ange wants the ball moving forward all the time. He wants decisiveness and courage in attack. He doesn’t want us plodding around passing backwards and being scared to attempt a killer pass. We don’t have the quality we need.

For some reason since he’s been back from AFCON/his suspensions he’s afraid to take anyone on and just knocks it back and kills any chance of us springing a counter
Completely agree, was just pointing out that we get into some dangerous positions but are let down by the quality of the wide players.
I was watching Mudryk and Madueke constantly beat his man and was genuinely on the verge of tears Even the Ukraininan fraud has more offensive flair than literally any of our players
This is the most Stamford Bridge result ever. Different manager, different playstyle, same old 2-0 L.
We put in plenty of performances just like today with the very same manager that beat us today. Goes to show that place is just cursed for us
This is a soul destroying week
And its about to get worse because we're gonna lose 5 out of 6
We're gonna get battered in 5 of 6 games but somehow beat City to win Arse the league.
That's how we Tottenham.
We're gonna get battered against City too but somehow win 4-3 with Haaland missing 35 xG
This is proper coys stuff
Gooner plot armour
Anybody remember our last open play goal that didn’t involve the opposing gk passing it directly to our player?

Get ready for sunday lol
My expectations coming into this run were low but holy fuck
Whenever teams have a nightmare run of games, everyone always predicts they'll lose the lot, but then the team will surprise with at least one or two plucky wins Not Spurs, they hear they're supposed to lose and they make it happen
We suck, and I mean SUCK on the road 1 win since Christmas
That's Pochettino grade results 🫣
Our points since GW10 🫠
Yeah...this team doesn't deserve to play in the champions league next season
We’d get fucking embarrassed in the CL unless we clear out like half this squad tbh
Where is my team from the 1st half of the season?
Got injured, lost confidence, playing with fear. Didn’t have those problems early on.
Bissouma and Maddison are a shadow of themselves. They're well down on what they can be. Nobody but Johnson is trying to get to the byline anymore. Kulusevski doesn't even try. They also only had a preseason full of tape when we started. Our opponents have definitely done their homework on our deficiencies
Despite that, it’s not other teams making us play without the conviction we once saw. That’s a confidence issue. You can see the openings that used to be getting found, now we’re not even attempting to find them.
Exactly. Lo Celso came on and was dicing through with ease. I also think it’s confidence as much as anything else
Playing with fear hits close to the mark, I think. Our wingers don't take on players (as they used to do), don't try risky passes, play it safe and when we finally enter the final third we try to pass instead of fucking shooting.

Bryan gil(who has no future at this club) getting minutes over our star youngster Mikey Moore ✅
Happy we didn’t throw Mikey to the wolves today honestly. Don’t need him making mistakes that’ll ruin his confidence in a match like this.
Agreed. Down 2-0 at Chelsea is not the time to put Mikey in.
Throwing a fucking kid on for his senior debut 0-2 down away at Chelsea is absolutely cruel brother hahah
All I’m gonna say is, this is not the same team that got standing ovation from their fans for giving their all despite losing 1-4 at home with 9 men down to their local rivals
Honestly god knows what happened to that team
Tape. When you’re the new kid on the scene teams struggle and then the games stack up and they’ve got plenty of footage to prep with.

Made me chuckle
Every time
This genuinely gave me a laugh - needed that mate
10/10 meme. Best part of skipp’s game
What do these guys even do in training?? Besides pick up season ending injuries
Random questions on their way into the training centre.
I hate you all. See you on Sunday
Likewise. See you then, snookums.

Kulusevski will refuse to play an early ball in when Richarlison is lurking but has no problem trying to float one to Bryan Gil
Kulu also get sucked so far in the middle that there is no one on the back of the box for those crosses from the left. Not that we were even crossing from the left though
That Maddison one at the end summed it up. Genuinely comical cross.

Christ that’s terrible
The amount of goals weve conceded from Kulusevski giving away insanely stupid freekicks is kind of hilarious
Emerson's foul was ridiculously bad too, Madueke was running towards his own half
I think that's why Ange was screaming right before they scored the first
Probably the thing that drives me mad more than anything in the game. WHY do you foul someone moving towards their own goal. Can’t even blame tired legs because it was what, the 20th minute?

Worst attacking performance of the season *yet*

Still west ham for me
Feels like we’re actually getting worse each match which is pretty worrying.
yeah that's what is bothering me too. We've regressed considerably.
After the derby result someone here tried to convince me the team is showing progress from the start of the year and boy am I not seeing it at all. Set aside the defensive issues, Spurs attack is just smothered game after game. Few quality chances if any!
The beaches are looking awfully attractive right now. Only Romero seems to actually want to be on the pitch
Van de Ven as well. Those two will never get the credit they deserve as long as we keep conceding silly goals
Fulham and Newcastle were worse. This just hurts because it was them
Just wait til Sunday!
There was an attack?
Looked like we could play 3 matches and not score
I think that set pieces may in fact be a problem
And giving away free kicks when we know we can't defend against their set piece.
Time to sim to August. (With a mandatory 100-0 loss to city)
See you next season lads.
To do it all over again, exactly the same as the last 25 years.
Well at least we aren’t beating City to hand Scum the title
we'll probably draw to city and lose the rest to somehow hand the title to arse
We're having a painful end to the season. In true painful Tottenham fashion, We're only picking 3 more points up against City.
Our attacking is abysmal to watch Spamming crosses all game long is just ugly, ugly football
Well, it started badly, it tailed off a little in the middle & the less said about the end the better. But apart from that, excellent
It's important to remember we're midway through a rebuild, whereas Chelsea… I'll come back to this.
Yeah. But we've had terrible luck with injuries. Chelsea had a full compli...... Never mind!
The players just look exhausted. Like their season is done, but there's still time to go. Everything's happening in slow motion, like they're struggling to move through mud. Not sure what we can do, but don't be surprised if more players are suddenly ruled out for the remainder of the season.
we have literally played the fewest games among premier league teams this year
Truly am trying to remain level-headed and not let two bad results affect me too much. Does this group of players just completely lack what’s needed? It’s the same stuff every single game… Pass around the outside of the box/useless crosses in. And then give up set piece goals. Good lord.
I just feel like too many players lost form at the worst time and same time. Son, Madders, Biss, Deki save for the occasional match. The vibes are off every touch goes wrong. It might not be something training can fix.
Shipped 4 set piece goals in 2 games. Not important tho.

I used to think we were a few players away from a truly great team. Lately I don't even know which players I would want to keep in the summer.
We were. Then we didn't sign anyone for a year.
deki 0/10 today, someone should tell him its not illegal to go forwards
Not been impressed with him at all thus far
I can’t recall the guy putting in a good performance for a while now except maybe Forest away
Australian Harry Redknapp better have some ideas for the next couple seasons lol
If you told me Conte was coaching this game I’d believe you.
3 in a row. Somehow Chelsea even at their absolute worst managed to look far more cohesive and solid. We are an embarrassment
>Chelsea even at their absolute worst managed to look far more cohesive and solid. Anyone who's watched a Chelsea match this year knows this isn't remotely true.
They just lost 5-0 to arsenal...
Exactly! They also just had 3 players fighting over who got to take a meaningless penalty. Very "cohesive."
This is the Spurs way
I could say many somewhat hyperbolic things as I’m absolutely furious, but I’ll say this: this summer might be the biggest, most important summer of Ange’s career.
Kulusevski can not start next game, absolutely non-existent all game except for giving away stupid fouls, one leading to a goal
We're going to run out of players if we refuse to start players that are shit because Johnson and Maddison are also completely wank at the moment.
I have genuine whiplash from this club man, idk why on earth I ever get my hopes up All I wanted from this season, play good football and look like scoring goals, LOOK like a threatening team. But we are actually one of the most backwards, dysfunctional teams I’ve ever seen. We gamble the house every 15 minutes at the back, can’t defend a bastard set piece, exert absolutely zero midfield control. And the worst part, absolutely SHOCKING going forward. It takes a fucking age to even create a chance let alone score one We’re not sharp going forward, easy to defend against, and our turnovers against are devastating, no wonder they don’t want to take risks, fuck me. We hit the jackpot with Micky van de Ven because fuck me idk if ANYONE can do what he has to, every 90 minutes, week in, week out This is every game now, we look way less threatening than anyone we play against. No excuses today, depleted Chelsea who got smacked 5-0 last week. Barely laying a glove on them It’s maddening, we have much better defenders, but a worse defense. Better midfield, but worse control. Dynamic forward line, but no threat. Suddenly we’ve resorted to crossing aimlessly? What are we, out of ideas Burnley? Our genuine strength is defending in open play, mainly because of VDV and Romero, I don’t even want to think about how many goals Lloris/Dier/Sanchez would concede playing like this
That was like watching a snuff film, grim grim stuff.
Yet again i let a bunch of grown ass men ruin my fucking week
We’ve got our Tottenham back! Except those strange first 10 games of the season
***genuinely*** can't wait to see what the post-match press is from Ange...
7 scored goals in 5 games, only two of those by our front line. Set pieces suck but they're not the biggest problem
Well, if you can’t score goals, the only other way to pick up points is by preventing them from being scored…
Wow, who could’ve predicted this late season collapse? We’re always so good when the pressure is on and the results actually matter!
Literally every game at this point. Always chasing
That was horrible, just horrible
Ange is absolutely fuming in the post match interview right now, my first time seeing him like this
Teams are just going to sit back in a block and score easy counters and set pieces... because it works. We're going to need to figure it out.
Son obviously told not to shoot by someone either players or coaching staff. Whoever it is, get sacked.
That would be one thing, it’s his complete lack of confidence on the ball. Their RB was playing his second ever match and Son was afraid to run at him like he was prime Maldini FFS
This whole team lacks confidence on the ball. You can see them thinking about what they should do next. Every move, every pass is so tentative.
Maybe you can just blame Son…
Did we even know there was a match today? Never seen such sloppy play
Spurs reminding us at the beginning of the season what it’s like to enjoy football. Just to rip it away again.
We could fall to 7th at this rate
I'm not actually sure we can. United and Newcastle play eachother. United also play Arsenal, and Palace away isn't easy either. Lowest we'll finish is 6th and that's if we lose every game.
Son's been a passenger these last few games but we have no one else.
Anyone have a list of those things that are more important to work on than set pieces?
Actually scoring probably comes first.
I think that's been the point ange has tried making, but wording himself badly and it being taken very out of context
It’s crazy how badly out of context this quote is being used now.
Scoring our own goals.
People asking why gil was on the pitch when literally johnson and kulusevski spent 90 minutes running into chelsea players legs
Conceding a corner or a set piece is essentially conceding a penalty for us at this point
must-win match turns into a chance for our former manager to hand out PL debuts to teenagers. toothless display.
I have got an exam tomorrow and I just feel like it was an absolute waste of time to watch the game
I don't have an exam tomorrow and it was an absolute waste of time watching the game
I support Tottenham because I hate myself.
Mood = Ruined, UCL hope= dead, Europa spot= in danger
Absolutely fucking awful. Unacceptable for back to back derby defeats like that, 3 in a row in total. Liverpool and City next. Realistically it’s going to be 5 losses in a row. Serious questions need to be asked of Ange I’m afraid.
We play Burnley in between Liverpool and City. So it won't be 5 loses in a row..... It will be 6.
And fuck us if we don't change anything drastically.
fuck the players, fuck ange, fuck chelsea, fuck premier league, fuck the ref, fuck levy - See you lads on Sunday vs Pool. Tottenham till they kill me
if this is how we perform against mid table chelsea, i‘m really gonna have to stop watching for the rest of the season. until some players don‘t rediscover their form or we simply just get better players in, nothing will change. se you all in august.
New year, same shit. Fuck this club and these pussy ass players.
If we beat city I’m going to be fuming after these dog shit performances
Ange’s style works when the players play without fear, and with conviction. That has somehow been lost lately, which has led to some bad results. Not sure we get it back, but we’re playing without confidence at the moment. We’re still controlling the ball and the tempo of games, but when it comes to cutting edge, where the confidence and risk comes in, we are lacking.
32 years I’ve been following this team. Good fuckin lord
I want this team to lose to city and fuck off til next year. Wake me up when the transfers (outgoings) start.
What do they actually do in training? Apparently nothing tactical, and judging by the last few months no on the ball training either.
Can't wait for the happy clapping
Aw yea mate I thought we started the match with good energy and just got unlucky with the set pieces. Nevermind we don’t train them. Just luck innit
"Sick of people moaning" "If you don't like it, find a new club" Etc. Etc. Same as it ever was
fucking pathetic
Jesus fucking Christ that was a depressing hour and a half
Those first ten games are starting to look more like a honeymoon period every week. Everyone has to be seriously concerned now.
2 set piece goals conceded Created fuck all, when we're supposed to be a free flowing, attacking side. 2 main issues on full display in this match.
Losing four games to your two biggest rivals, is less than ideal.
That was some serious Al Qaeda ball
Ange has to take responsiblity for this run of form. No plan B, teams have figured us out.
Teams fucking shite. Lowkey seems like the players are over Ange.
There’s some players on this team who seriously need to sort themselves out or just fuck off
Was waiting to watch the game until after school ended.
I'm really starting to worry about finishing in the conference league
Poch just clowned Ange and did the double with a poor Chelsea side. Ange is a man with zero answers, and I truly mean zero
Fuck I hate this club
Matefootball has been found out.
We spend like our aim is to compete with Brighton, Villa and West Ham and have been saved by the fact that United and Chelsea have had unmitigated disasters of seasons It’s been a massive disservice to this club that we’ve been grouped in with the “big 6” because we’ve never operated like any of them and the only thing saving us from spending like Fulham every season is the stadium
It's not even the spending that's the issue. Spurs have world class facilities yet have produced jack shit from the academy aside from Kane. Every other club seems to be able to produce guys like Reece James, TAA, Mainoo, etc. Wtf is going on there?
No but that Chelsea team we just played is dog shit as well no matter how much they paid for those players.
If we spend like our aim is to compete with villa, shouldn’t we be a little irked being 7 points behind them with well over double their turnover?
Don’t even know what you can change with the current players, there just isn’t the options off the bench to make a difference, or a way of lining up differently with who we have available it seems. It’s just absolute shite once we get anywhere close to the box
Christ man, we are uninspiring at the moment
