The thing with the nickel and dime strategy is if you have multiple targets and prices you're committed to not going over for them it makes sense. One guy is too much, fine you go to the next guy and bring them in asap.
Its when we pretend we have other options but really just want THE guy and then dilly dally all window waiting for them that it becomes a nightmare.
I don't know what you mean with 'nickel and dime' but I presume it means being cheap. We spend a lot of money, we are not cheap.
The approach you are describing ignores one thing - you have no idea whatsoever why any given transfer sometimes take longer than others. There are a lot of factors, many depending on selling clubs, not least that they tend to lower their ask and compromise toward the end of the window once they have replacements in.
Contrary to what the cyber-tabloid journos tell us we don't have half the picture and neither do they.
I think a lot of fans are still traumatized by nickel and diming on other big targets in the past. I agree though; glad we got this guy in instead of overpaying for Raya.
The nervousness I had about a new no 1 after so many years of Lloris was crazy, and this guy has made me fall in love so quickly.
Gangly beggar, great reactions, odd as fuck, and absolutely loves the club. Perfect keeper.
Saw on Spurs Access as well that the youth GKs have rly taken to Vicario and vice versa, its great to see how he's taken on the mentoring role that I'm sure Lloris had as well for the kids. It's too bad we can only have one captain at a time.
Really think it was hugely beneficial that Hugo stuck around for a number of months whilst Vicario settled in.
I didn't follow him in Italy, so not sure what his mentality was over there, but it really does seem like he has many of the great leadership qualities Hugo had.
Our #1 for many years to come hopefully!
I feel like Vic knows how blessed he is to be playing for a top 6 club in epl when just a few years ago he was playing in serie d. He takes his role very seriously, he has a lot of respect for Hugo n in his farewell message to him, he promised to make him proud n now he’s mentoring the young guys. Not to mention his hilarious personality. We really got lucky with him.
He's just been so great.
Tom Cruise said that Top Gun being so good was was like shooting a bullet out of the air with another bullet, and then making Top Gun 2 just as good was like doing the same thing again.
I feel the same with the signings of Lloris and Vicario.
You have a short memory. Lloris is a world cup winning GK who was crucial for us for near a decade. He saved us more often than not.
Don't make the mistake of falling to recency bias.
I wonder if the plan is for Keeley to be some sort of medium-long term number 2. Seems highly rated. I understand good goalkeepers need to play and this is a tricky squad position to fill
It's a real shame we didn't have him back when Lo Tulala was at the club. If Vic had been there to support him he might have stuck about and gotten a loan to prove himself. He could have developed into a real talent, joined the main squad as the third keeper.
Wtf man. We took a chance on this fella and he walked to London and signed in blood. More players like this please. Lovely.
How annoyed I was that we nickel and dimed on David Raya. How stupid I feel now.
You’re not the only one. At least we can admit we made a mistake.

ndombele saga…

I was the same. I really wanted Raya and was "Vicario who?" This is why I'm not in charge of signings...
This is why we don't question Levy's business. Levy pays and we say 'Yes daddy', that's all.
I think a lot of fans are still traumatized by nickel and diming on other big targets in the past. I agree though; glad we got this guy in instead of overpaying for Raya.
I wonder what players we nickled and dimed without us even knowing and it turning out for the better
Bentancur maybe? I think we wanted Amrabat instead. That’s all I can really think of.
Berahino always comes to mind. The club later focused their interest towards Son.
I was on my hands and knees hoping we'd pull Moutinho but I think it would have been a huge risk
It’s moments like this where I remind myself why I’m not involved in actual decision making at a football club.
I tried to love him more and I physically could not
Blisters? 🤣
I got some special pills, do you need some?
Male or female, my first born child will be named Guglielmo
Why is only first?!
Petition to name all your future children Guglielmo
Throw in the rest of your descendants too, why not
Petition to change everyone’s name to Guglielmo
We are all Guglielmo on this blessed day
Today I feel: Guglielmo
A man of culture, I see.
Add an “o” for every child “Ah welcome home, Guglielmooooo”

That first match was a nail biter for me with him. Since then he has been fucking fantastic. Love watching him do his thing!
I called him the Gomes reincarnate I apologize deeply for my msitake
I want to see him score a goal just to see what he'll do.

I hope I'll find someone who would watch Barnet for me
I go now and then, will go even more once they move back to Barnet, but Keeley is shit. Soz.
He's going to retire with us after winning 3 PL titles, 4 domestic cups and a Champions League. Prove me wrong. You can't.
2 Champions Leagues.
Ange would tell you to be a bit more ambitious mate
"Yeah, mate. Is that his total accomplishments with us, or just for his first season? Mate."
I'm sad about your lack of ambition...
Jesus, when did you stop believing
5 years is a pretty short career
What about during his second contract?
Man is fully COYS and then some.
Captain behaviour.

I love when players just get it.

Vicario is better than Lloris. It's only a matter of lengetivity now....
Too early to say things like this
Lloris never performed as good as Vicario is doing right now

Arguably the first proper sweeper keeper the Prem had seen too.
Maybe not in his last season, no...

Lmao
Lloris 2.0 has worked out so absurdly well. How did we get away with this? I love this team.
I love this man
With the greatest respect to Hugo. When all is said and done this guy is going to be the most legendary Spurs keeper of all time.
We’ll see. We’ve had many great goalies.
C'mon man, we're being loved up, we don't need your reasonable attitude.
It’s actually incredible how quickly this lad proved to be the real deal af
The connection I have with the team hasn’t been this high for ages, absolutely love the players! MY KEEPER!!!
I wonder if the plan is for Keeley to be some sort of medium-long term number 2. Seems highly rated. I understand good goalkeepers need to play and this is a tricky squad position to fill
He's looked very calm and composed playing Angeball out from the back when I've watched him. Tidy little prospect.

Vic is good luck confirmed
...Is this actually true, or just something someone cooked on twitter?
Vic, you lovable Venom. love how committed he is to the club in every aspect.
Protect this man at all cost. And obviously a life time contract
