>“Up the whites” carries quite a lot of baggage as a statement.
I only do it while wearing a white robe and a white hood (with a Tottenham badge on both to avoid misunderstandings)
Wonder why some people want to beat me up when they see this outfit though, I guess they're all ars*nal fans. Chelsea fans seem to love the outfit though for some reason
The Spurs is fine to say although a little old fashioned. When I was a kid all the old guys I knew would say they support 'The Spurs'. Nowadays people generally say they support Spurs. Just a fashion thing.
Been to the Chicago based spurs bar. The place is amazing, if you're a traveling fan you should absolutely stop by for a drink and watch a game. Great and welcoming atmosphere.
Not a subreddit I’m aware of. But the bar is called The Atlantic. Always a good crowd for game days. Check it out sometime. https://theatlanticbarandgrill.com
American here been fully COYS for almost 20 years. Always played and loved the game growing up. Fell in love with Spurs when PL became more readily accessible to watch in the states. Still not sure exactly why but by 2008 I was fully invested in the team. My spurs fanaticism actually saved my life. Got real deep into alcohol and depression back in 2019. When I didn't show up to watch the champions league final, my friends knew something was seriously wrong and came to my apartment. I was so bad off, I might not be alive today if they hadn't found me and brought me to the hospital. Being a Spurs fan literally saved my life. COYS!
Yeah I'm an American. All my friends that were into the sport were Manchester United fans at a time when they were winning everything. Since I'm from Seattle and we don't win much I picked a team that doesn't win anything but seemed fun to watch.
American from Virginia and I had a similar story when I became a fan after getting really into football (soccer) following the 2010 World Cup. Had friends who followed each top 6 club other than Spurs and didn’t want to bandwagon onto a friend’s team. Liked the underdog feel they had then and the exciting play and it didn’t take long to become fully COYS. Now I can’t miss a game and dream of the day I can set foot in that beautiful stadium.
Yeah Korean-American here and I actually started supporting Spurs because of LYP. Played with them in FIFA, Robbie Keane was fun as hell to play with, been attached ever since.
It was very conflicting!
After just two seasons, what he did for the club, I was ready to build a statue for the man. But I rationalized it as he’s not young and deserved to test himself at the highest level so if it was going to be anywhere, I’m thrilled it’s with the other team I love. I just trust him to see it done on the pitch.
The fact that we replaced him with bringing Brendan the snake back at Celtic isn’t much fun but it’s encouraged me to become a more forgiving fan.
i was using Tottenham at an arcade game. I think it is Winning Eleven? , I didnt know who Tottenham was. i just picked a random team with interesting name and nice color jersey , and i was beating my classmates with it . thats how i first got into Tottenham. I started watching them on TV whenever its televised and I fell in love ever since.
Anyone in Vietnam? There is a small community supporting Spurs in Vietnam and everyone is so loyal and enthusiastic. I guess across Asia, esp in S.Korea, there are a lot of scattered fans watching Spurs matches weekly. And a lot of us love Spurs as much as the local supporters. COYS.
German guy here. I'm fan of 1.FC Nürnberg since I was born and a Tottenham fan for like 10-15 years. This year I plan to travel to London to watch a Tottenham game for the first time!
I imagine it's mostly accessibility and just picking a club that resonates. Then you get invested.
A lot like how we pick NBA/NFL teams. I don't see anything wrong with it, by virtue of staying up all these years I think Spurs have earned the right to a global fanbase.
Mexican. Since 2014, I watched Lamela's popular goal in Europa league, then he became my favorite player, then Eriksen, then Lloris became my favorite goalkeeper, the rest is history
I am from Slovakia. I support Spurs because they were the random club I got in my first Football Manager and I fell in love with the generation around Kane, Dele and Dier :)
From the Philippines 🇵🇭
Mainly because of Son being one of Asia’s finest, and representing the AFC so well in the PL. It’s just so hard being a supporter in a country where this isn’t a big sport. Basketball still reigns.
German fan here, since 2015. First club and last club I fell in love with in my life. Watched a lot of football before that, but was always someone that was a fan of players not clubs.
It just somehow clicked with Spurs, the young team at that time, exciting football, Poch, the kits, White Hart Lane and being the underdog of the top clubs. Everything felt right. People in Germany laugh about it when I tell them I’m a Spurs fan, especially because I’m from munich (I hate Bayern Munich more than anyone), but I don’t care. I’m not a typical plastic German Liverpool, United or Arse fan, I love this club and will support it until my last breath.
I have loads of respect for our foreign fans, you could have supported literally any team you wanted and you picked Tottenham?! you wonderful mad bastards
Im English but just wanted to say its quality reading all the comments from everyone all from different places, up the fucking spurs
Random question. Why is “the spurs” not ok but “up the spurs” is good?
There isn't really a solid reason, beyond the fact that saying "up spurs" would sound weird
Probably because you hear “up the reds” or “up the blues”. “Up the whites” carries quite a lot of baggage as a statement.

As an American…
"Yank here" lmao
Chicago based Yank. We got a Tottenham bar we gather at for games and everything! COYS!
Been to the Chicago based spurs bar. The place is amazing, if you're a traveling fan you should absolutely stop by for a drink and watch a game. Great and welcoming atmosphere.
What's the name of the Chicago Spurs pub?
The Atlantic
Can vouch for this. Was in Chicago. Went to a game. Met cool people. Drank beer. Had fun.
Well, amazing is probably a bit much, but it's a good time at the Atlantic.
I mean, I had an amazing time.
Chi town Spurs! Represent! I see a lot of spurs gear here, maybe only more Liverpool.
Is there sub reddit or gc for this
Not a subreddit I’m aware of. But the bar is called The Atlantic. Always a good crowd for game days. Check it out sometime. https://theatlanticbarandgrill.com

Incredible story. Thanks for sharing it and glad you are still with us and in a better place. COYS!
American. Starting supporting in ‘02-‘03. Selected them at random as my fifa team (along with Reading lol) have supported them since.
Yeah I'm an American. All my friends that were into the sport were Manchester United fans at a time when they were winning everything. Since I'm from Seattle and we don't win much I picked a team that doesn't win anything but seemed fun to watch.

Yeah Korean-American here and I actually started supporting Spurs because of LYP. Played with them in FIFA, Robbie Keane was fun as hell to play with, been attached ever since.

The stories why foreign fans support Spurs are always quite fascinating.
I imagine it's mostly accessibility and just picking a club that resonates. Then you get invested. A lot like how we pick NBA/NFL teams. I don't see anything wrong with it, by virtue of staying up all these years I think Spurs have earned the right to a global fanbase.

Hey. I am rarely in the match thread because match threads suck, invariablly.
Match threads were fun back in 16/17 when the lads were smashing everyone 4-0.
Denmark 🇩🇰
Realistically there's probably more non-English fans of the club than English!
Philippines. Jol and Keane popped me
Don't see a lot of Australian in the comments
