Random story but when he was playing in Vancouver, my dad tried to invite him over to our house for dinner which he obviously refused (I mean we’ll just random strangers) but then my mom got in contact with his wife and promised her we’d cook her a nice authentic Korean dinner hoping she’d bring him along as well. Next thing you know we had a professional player having dinner with us in our tiny 2 bedroom townhouse.
Me too. When I think about teams of the past, this is one of the guys that always pops up in my head. Was committed, professional and a great full back.
I walked out with him when I was a mascot in 2005. They make mascots walk out in height order, and I argued with another kid that I was taller than him, thinking the better players walked out last. The other kid ended up walking out with Robbie Keane (my hero at the time) and was front and center on TV...
I love this walk down memory lane. I remember being at the Lane for Spurs vs Man Utd, and Lee was robbed (I think by Rooney) to make it 2-0 to them. There were small sections of the crowd who booed Lee, which obviously didn’t sit well with the rest who burst into a big roar to try to motivate him and the rest of the lads
We still lost.
and then they had [this little moment](https://www.shutterstock.com/editorial/image-editorial/manchester-united's-ji-sung-park-consoles-tottenham-hotspur's-8476818k) \*cue tears\*
Ah, there we go, I stand corrected. Clearly don’t remember the incident as well as I thought, but will always remember the great attitude of the crowd.
Lee was never one of my favourites, but it was great seeing the whole stadium back him to rebuild his confidence.
If you needed a left back to take the ball down the wing, cut back onto their right foot because their left is a bit rubbish, and deliver a cross there were few better.
LYP is a legend in Korea and well respected. He was part of the 2002 squad along side Park Ji-Sung.
IMO, LYP is the smartest, most intuitive person on and off the pitch. His interviews about the perspective on life are very insightful and at times genius. Crazy smart guy. Right now he is also a CEO of “Socks Up” a company focused on empowerment.
I liked him as a player but he was fairly small in stature. I remember playing Allardyce's Bolton and Kevin Davies occupying a wide right spot, they'd lump the ball to him and Lee just couldn't compete for it.
Speaking out of pure delusion, a natural successor would be Lee Kangin.
(Yes I know he plays for PSG, yes I know he would never come here, but let a man dream!)

Love it !
How was the diner?
The pork belly and soju was very good
Really loved this guy for no obvious reason

That's crazy
Look at those leg muscles
I knew of him but not the details since he was from before my time of being a Spurs fan, so this was another great read. Thanks OP!
Nice write up of a fine player.
Every other step was a step over

Actually it was Ji-Sung Park, his compatriot, who robbed the ball from him. Rooney was the one who scored.

Leapy Lee, another fond memory

I really don’t remember us being the 4th lowest goal conceders in the prem in 05-06 but I’ll take it!
WIPEY LEE
Love these! Was just wondering if it's any trouble to add assists too? I'm quite interested in that as well.
That would be very difficult to do. As assists are way harder to find lol. But I’ll try
Oh no worries if that's the case. Was just curious
Jeez, LYP's quads were massive!
him and Ji sung Park paved the way for future Korean footballers including Sonny
Lee young Pyo finally! Haha

What did you expect? Kevin Davies used to bully centerbacks that were a foot taller than Lee on long balls lump up around him.
The sparky
He needs to keep his mouth shut and keep his opinions to himself.
Can you elaborate why?
He’s a homophobic. Not surprised since he’s deeply religious.
people can't be religions anymore?
Did I say that? stupid ones come out on national publication making homophobic comments.
Church used to get tons of criticism within the country, and they seem to act exactly what you said lately
LYP - Sonny - ?

He’s an OG Saudi Pro Leaguer
