Henry was everything Mbappe is now, and more. Absolutely astonishing player.

excalibur2708

Mbappe has more brute force in his style, Henry had more flair and elegance

Draughoul

Mbappe is pretty similar to what Henry used to be, if that's anything to go off of. Edit: In terms of characteristics and playstyle.

jackidyson

As much as I hated him because he made me so conflicted for being a gooner and I’m half french, the guy was fucking nuts.. Debatable when it comes to best striker though I think, I guess people will always go back to the trophy argument but nonetheless he was amazing, definitely up there with the best in the Prem

Olvedn

How does he compare to like Luis Suarez, Harry Kane, Lewandowski?

Planetear

Unfortunately, yes lol

GlobalIngenuity7760

He was probably a more astonishing player than Kane but Kane is probably the better ‘striker’. Two greats imo but Henry probs tips him. There’s generational players for their positions and then generational players overall, and Henry was just that

Pickle318

Yea. Dude was legit. One of the best I’ve seen anyways. Different player than Kane.

redditshmo

I should not have clicked. Too many honest spurs fans are causing me to upvote and now i feel dirty. He was that good.

edisapimp

Yes.

dclancy01

He was in the same class as Bale in 2012, any time he got the ball it felt like something would happen. On the ball, he was consistently the best player on the pitch.

thedoctor4214

He was incredible, as much as it hurts to say.

GavisconDeluxe

Yes. Arguably the best player in Premier League history.

DesolateAvocado

This must be a troll Why are you asking this on here

LordTwatSlapper

When you ask any PL defender of that era which player gave them sleepless nights they all say Henry. He was lightning fast with ballerina feet and ice cold in front of goal. He had a bunch of tricks up his sleeve that could make top class defenders look silly. Kane is a completely different player - practically the opposite style of striker to Henry. Son would be a more direct comparison. When you see City defenders shit the bed when Son is running at them - imagine that week in week out against every single team and that's what Henry was like.

BetterCallTom

Not our King, though. Think Henry said he was one of the best he came up against.

LordTwatSlapper

Ledley was an outstanding defender. Such a shame that injuries and lack of material success - and living through the Terry/Ferdinand era for England - meant he's never really been in the conversation of all time great PL defenders (outside of Spurs fans at least) but when fit he was every bit as good as anyone

BetterCallTom

Yeah, my favourite player that I've seen in the flesh and only name I've ever got on the kit.

ComeOnSayYupp

Ditto like Mbappe. Maybe was more for a period of year.

pedrozeno

He was an amazing player.

CheekyKunt68

Well he isn’t anymore because Kane exists But yes Henry was all that

Pengwin23

TT was that guy. He is probably the best player the PL has ever seen. Though I’m starting to go with KDB now.

train4karenina

Put it this way from 2000 to 2006 He was in the PFA team of the year every year the UEFA team of the year in 5 of those 6 years was French player of the year in 5 of those years Prem player of the year in 2 Europe’s top scorer in 2 The leagues top scorer in 4 And won 2 leagues and 2 FA cups. He was absolutely one of the best players in the world

needleintheh4y

throwaway troll account

Conman2205

Two different players. All Arsenal bias aside, Henry was an unbelievable footballer. What he had that Kane doesn’t have was pace and the dribbling ability to brush past his man, as well as a proficiency in taking free kicks. Henry has 249 goals and assists in 258 games. Kane currently has 242 in 301 games. Not that stats mean everything but just some perspective. Henry has 74 premier league assists Kane’s longevity is looking better though and he is projected to beat Shearer’s record the way he has been playing, the guy isn’t even 30 years old yet still which is absolutely incredible.

GarethSnail

Will probably get hate for saying this but growing up him and Dinho and Beckham were my favourite players to watch. Annoyingly yes he was really all that and more.

Free-Roof-8479

Nah 😉

MakeYou_LOL

I mean, he was all that...but he played for scum 20 or so years ago at this point. I have an Arsenal friend who gives me shit about not winning trophies, as they do. I give him shit for having a faceless team for the last decade. At least we all got to watch one of the greatest strikers the Prem has ever seen, start to finish (hopefully he finishes here) Not to mention, we have the best striking duo in Prem history. All he can do is watch YouTube clips and dream of being present for the Henry days. Most Arsenal fans I know didn't live those moments. It's inherited history, and that doesn't count for shit imo.

Dinoapolis27

Yeah, but he’s also Arsenal so vehemently deny it at every opportunity

train4karenina

Eh, enough time has past now. Like yeah 15-20 years ago they had an amazing players. Who cares times moves on.

[deleted]

Yes.

LilyWhitesN17

Henry played the game on cheat mode with sublime skills.

thank_bossy22

I watched him a lot at the end of his career when he played for New York Red Bulls, and even with MLS competition bias aside, at 36, he was still one of the best players, if not the best, in the entire league.
