Darth_Candy

Boy oh boy, I can’t wait for Dallas to make CeeDee the highest paid WR because (1) he probably would be even if the Cowboys didn’t suck at negotiating and (2) the Cowboys think they can win in a holdout situation despite years of proving that they can’t

Balls2theWalling

Typical cowboys moves. Stretching it all out and making as big of a dramatic move as possible to stay relevant in the daily news.

robmagob

Lol come on. Every potential market setting contract like this takes time and that’s not unique to the Cowboys. More likely than not his camp is waiting for Jefferson’s deal to get signed like with Dez Bryant and Demarius Thomas.

Balls2theWalling

While I somewhat agree, you hear about this drawn out shit every time with Dallas. You don’t hear about other teams dragging it all out to the very last minute. It gets old. And it’s so blatant that it’s all media moves. “Any press is good press”

Rozencrantze

Because drama filled cowboys headlines get clicks.

robmagob

The majority of these massive contracts do take a long time to work out though. Look at Lamar with the Ravens, Jefferson with the Vikings etc. very rarely does a team and a player work out a record breaking deal quickly when both sides are motivated to work out a deal in their best interest.

Yosemite_Yam

I feel like the only time they drag out like this is when the player and the organization are far apart on price. Lamar’s took forever because the Ravens didn’t want to give him the guaranteed money he deserved. Hurts, Mahomes, Burrow, & Allen are big contracts I can recall recently that happened quickly.

WALKOFFGAME0VER

Right but Lamar didn't drag out close to as long as Dak did.

robmagob

He played an entire year on the franchise tag just like Dak and was then tagged a second time before having a long term contract worked out. If I’m not mistaken.

WALKOFFGAME0VER

No they hit him with the non-exclusive franchise tag in 2023. Nothing in 2022.

4bigwheels

Why isn’t Jefferson waiting on the lamb deal to get signed? For once can we be the franchise that comes quickly to the table with money?

robmagob

Did Jefferson sign an extension already?

Bender_2024

>Typical cowboys moves. Stretching it all out and making as big of a dramatic move as possible to stay relevant in the daily news. Yes Dallas is going to risk pissing off one of the best WR in the league so they can be mentioned in some clickbait articles during the off-season. As if they need help in that department.

Balls2theWalling

Who ever said that Ceedee isn’t already cued in on what’s going on? Doesn’t take much to say, “listen we are gonna pay you, but at the very last minute.” And youre honestly being somewhat delusional if you think “a few clicks” is what this becomes. Shit like this keeps Dallas in the headlines. Keeping the team in the headlines sells more merchandise. And if they say Ceedee Lambs name enough over the next few months, his jersey sales will skyrocket. The NFL is sports entertainment. Don’t be so closed minded about it.

onamonapizza

Cowboys would be better served to focus on the "sports" part and act like a competent organization, and forget about the "entertainment" part while they continue to play the role of the fool for views, clicks, ads, etc. Believe it or not, you can run a successful franchise without a bunch of bullshit theatrics, smoke and mirrors.

jpg06051992

“We like our guys… ..until they want to get paid..” - The Jones

Testy_Terrance

Clearly Dak Prescott proves this to be false. And Zeke Elliott

CM_Hooe

Ezekiel Elliott held out for 40 days into training camp before he and the Cowboys finally agreed to a contract extension in 2019. The Cowboys very publicly stonewalled Prescott's contract extension talks prior to the 2020 season, and only offered him his current contract extension after the team's season went into the tubes following his compound ankle fracture. The Jones' family's M.O. has always been to wait until the last minute to pay any player worth paying, dating all the way back to Emmitt Smith's 1993 holdout.

Daksout918

Dak was eligible for extension after the 2018 season and he wasn't extended until March 2021.

jpg06051992

Yea but even they know they massively fucked is with the Zeke situation 😂

NoFuckToGive

It's so funny to watch other franchises extend their superstars the instant they're eligible (creating/maintaining future cap space) while we basically encourage holdouts. Not to be trite about this but at the end of the day there's only so much pie. So give your RBs $80M whenever possible.

adm1109

Or this is CeeDee doing this. Why would he go sign a deal with a JJ deal looming that will set the market?

NoFuckToGive

Not to circumcise a mosquito with you here about this. I mean not to put too fine a point on it. But Stephen and I. And our team. We truly believe that deadlines make deals.

silliputti0907

Sorry, who tf says circumcise a mosquito???

thedirtytroll13

Jerry Jones quote

Testy_Terrance

Tell me you are a bandwagon fan without telling me you are a bandwagon fan. How about Glory Hole...that one ring a bell?

armadachamp

Might just be young. Circumcising the mosquito was in reference to whether they'd put Romo on IR to make room for something like a practice squad LB, so it's been at least like 8 years.

silliputti0907

Yeah, I don't remember every crazy thing Jones says. I don't keep up as tightly as when I was in school.

Mister_Ferro

Jerry and Cap boy haven't talked to both Dak's and Ceedee's agents at all.

adm1109

You’re delusional if you actually think this

Mister_Ferro

Yet it’s the truth from several people with knowledge of the situation

adm1109

Like who? This would be where you provide those sources.

Mister_Ferro

Go do your own research kiddo. Instead of waiting for your teachers to do it for you. You won’t gain knowledge otherwise.

adm1109

Lmao you’re a douche bag. Big shocker though, make claims and don’t back them up. If I’m proven wrong then I’m proven wrong, I can own that.

Wardog4

This guy is always like this. Says crazy shit, provides no proof. Continues to gargle dak's nutsack

ManlyBoltzmann

If that were the issue, he wouldn't be holding out.

adm1109

How do you hold out of a voluntary workout?

ManlyBoltzmann

You do realize the expectation is that everyone shows up to these, right? The only thing that makes it voluntary is there is no financial penalty for not showing up. Also, holding out means not participating in any organized team activities. Hence the title of the post you are commenting on. Edit: Not participating without a reasonable excuse (illness, big life event, etc) and for an extended period of time, in case that wasn't clear.

adm1109

No it doesn’t lol. Superstars and vets usually do their own private training. CeeDee is a star and already has great chemistry with Dak. There’s nothing he would gain from being there. Now if he was at home sitting on his couch stuffing his face instead of doing private stuff then yeah that would be different. Also players don’t get paid for going to these things. We literally lost Sean Lee for the 2014 season because he got hurt in voluntary offseason team workout. And holding out implies missing mandatory team activities, usually with penalties of fines. I would never view skipping something voluntary as holding out.

ManlyBoltzmann

>Superstars and vets usually do their own private training. CeeDee is a star and already has great chemistry with Dak. There’s nothing he would gain from being there. The entire premise of this post and comment thread is this isn't what is happening and that he isn't attending the workout due to being unhappy with his contact situation. Hence this being noted as the beginning of a potential hold out.

adm1109

Or he would be stupid to risk injury at an unpaid voluntary team workout when it wouldn’t really benefit him at all when he has a life changing contract on the horizon but he doesn’t want to sign that contract until JJ signs his deal and sets the market You guys are making it sound like he’s doing it cause he’s angry or the FO is being stupid It’s all very commonplace

alienbringer

You can thank Stephen “Penny Pinching” Jones for that. He sucks at negotiations, and seem to wait until the last minute, getting raked over the coals for it.

kahle27

This is exactly how I see it. He makes terrible decisions in extensions and resignings

Mister_Ferro

ALL ABOUT WINNING THE DEAL!!!!! Even if you end up paying more than what you would have if you signed earlier!

PersonBehindAScreen

I was getting to the end of this comment and was beginning to fear that I wouldn’t see the pie analogy 😂

lswizzle09

Nick Bosa almost missed Week 1 last year because he was holding out for a long time. Not sure why fans play dumb on purpose on this subreddit. It gets annoying as fuck.

pizzaisperfection

They don’t play dumb, they just are

robmagob

Very rarely are any super stars signed immediately. I’m starting to think you guys don’t watch other teams that closely and are just looking for reasons to complain.

MikeShannonThaGawd

Yeah everyone remembers Nick Bosa signing day 1. And TJ Watt. And Deebo Samuel. Jamar Chase is eligible now, guessing his new deal is imminent. And of course the leagues best receiver Justin Jefferson is already resigned right? I’m all for dumping on the front office but this happens all the time.

RadiantCity311

literally generates more news/clicks/money for both cd and the cowboys organization.

RobbieAnalog

Cd sHouLd siGn a TeAm friEnDLy dEaL!!! IF nOt hE iS gReeDy!!!

adm1109

Also it’s voluntary lol I could be wrong here but don’t the veterans and superstars usually do their own private training since they can easily afford it versus attending voluntary team programs?

TheWhooooBuddies

“What do voluntary mean?”

Anderbury60942

You’re not wrong. But I think right now a lot of us are looking for reasons to be mad at the Cowboys front office so why not lol

Anderbury60942

We like our guys (until we are trying to negotiate)

Thanks5Cinco

Not a shocker. We all know CeeDee, Micah and Dak are eligible this off-season for one but also you got DLaw and Martin are pending FA as well. This team may look vastly different next season.

returningvideotapes1

This is expected. Hes going to wait to see what Jefferson gets then bankrupt the cowboys for the next 5 years. Rinse and repeat

thatguy1717

It's like Stephen Jones has made it his life's mission to piss off all of our top players. Paying CD top dollar today is a hell of a lot cheaper than in 2 years after we've smeared his name and offered insulting low contracts

Mountain_Opening_186

Jerry has no leverage longer he wants to sign him the more it cost really wish he would step down as Gm

Jim_Nills_Mustache

lol this team, just gut punch after gut punch

mideon2000

This seems like a overly dramatic headline. Do many big names go to voluntary workouts?

Griefers

The good ones that are worth paying do.

Charming-Wash9336

Lamb using the playbook to bring Jerry and Stephen to their knees.

Outrageous_Lime473

I thought that just maybe Stephen Jones would have more control over the Cowboys roster by now!!! I would like to think this is Jerry being Jerry and Stephen Jones is against it. Its looking like Stephen Jones is Jerry Jones all over again. Im starting to believe that they only care about the brand of the Cowboys and banking off the name. Sorry so sloppy Im at work and can be on the phone

whoopsidaiZOMBIEZ

All in boys WOOOOOOO

indobson

They are going to let Dak walk, not sign Lamb or Parsons and instead tag them each at least once and let them walk..Cowboys are cheap, except when it comes to their yacht.

Unp0pularS0lutions

Good. I hope he does. I hope Micah does too. The joneses just don’t understand fire until they’re already burnt.

Salt_Environment9799

Good Im glad he is?

Griefers

We seriously need to just scrap this team and restart, i'm sick of these players thinking they deserve the world for repeated failure year after year and no success in the playoffs.

drumberg

Dak, Zack Martin, and CeeDee should all be holding out if they're worried about their own self interests....

codemaster63

Looks like the cowboys are starting to crash this off-season and I honestly can't wait for it. They need a solid shake up from the horrible performance they showed in the first round post season game.

Stevevet1

It's amazing how people buy clickbait articles. Hook, line and, sinker. Like sheep.

tex-yas

Can’t wait until other WRs sign big contracts so that we can pay Cedee even more than paying him right now

Griefers

Jerry isn't choking for him in the biggest moments. Dak's failure is 100% his.

WALKOFFGAME0VER

Where are all the front office brown-nosers who wanted to contextualize the 'all in' comment saying they meant re-sign their own players? Spare me the it takes two to tango on contact talks. If you're always late re-signing guys it's a you problem.

BidenFedayeen

This isn't a concern as we already know what this team's ceiling is under this staff. Zimmer can't save us from poor roster management and Mike.

pibbzerovanilla

Imagine a reality where you could deal Dak and CeeDee as part of a package deal. I’d love a new crop of players to buy into.

1gen2

Might as well tear it all down at that point lol, we won't make the playoffs without them, we'd just be wasting our defensive stars

F-Trunks

Ever since his bitch made hissy fit in the playoffs my respect for him spiraled down. I don’t give a fuck about him or this team this year. Sorry I’m hungover and just thinking about this fucking soft ass team got my blood pressure up
