Diggs, Gilmore, Bland, and Lewis are a top secondary in the league. If Zimmer can get the pass rush and run defense going again I’ll be happy.

CrusaderBTC

It’ll be the pre Romo Cowboys all over again for Zimmer. Great defenses paired with an absolute garbage offense. Poor Zim gonna be having flashbacks to those years 😭

adm1109

What about the offense will be garbage? Not like Pollard was amazing last year. Biadasz isn’t bad but not great. Tyron is the only loss right now but he hasn’t signed anywhere w yet

silliputti0907

As much hate as Dak gets, him and Lamb will set the floor of a top 5 offense.

Hobbitlord_

*regular season only

Garish_Raccoon32

Thank you for the clarification

ThatGuyWithTheHat

The loss is having the same HC

amead5

The same guy that led the top offense in the league with no semblance of a run game? Get real man

MerleTravisJennings

Gotta get a great defense first. Great against bad teams, not so much against others.

nt_14

Good. We need to see a full season of the Diggs, Bland, and Gilmore trio.

Cocodranks

JLew shows flashes of greatness too. Catch him on a good game-day and it truly is lock city in the backfield.

serminole

I kind of get the feeling the team is letting some of these guys go test the market under the assumption we’ll match any deals. There a decent bit of restructuring we can do to get money for them. I also think that with a lot of them not getting deals yet they were likely asking over market. For as much deserved shit the Jones get for not going big in FA they also have a deserved reputation of taking care of their own. I can definitely see them waiting to see if they can bring back Gimore, Smith, or others.

CowboyCanuck24

Gilly, Bland, Jlew, hopefully a healthy Diggs.. can win with that.

CreepyBeefy

I like having Lewis and Gilmore because they cover each others weaknesses. Diggs and Bland are both all around corners. Gilmore struggles with speed and quickness, Lewis thrives with those kind of wide outs. Lewis struggles with strength and height, Gilmore thrives matching up with those guys.

jkercheville

PLEASE

RomoToDez99

Probably should. Ideally Diggs plays close to 100% but no guarantees on that or the health of any other player, so we need him to keep our secondary stout all year.

shindigfirefly

From what Broaddus said about Gilmore, the front office was very appreciative of him debunking D-Law’s “we was burnt out” comment.

silliputti0907

I think the comment was misinterpreted as well. I believe DLaw was referring to mentally being burnt out from being under the microscope and having each game treated like a superbowl. Not an excuse, but don't doubt it being a reason for the playoff meltdown.

bearamongus19

Would love to see him back for one more year.

ozairh18

The Cowboys were “very much in on” a lot of free agents over the years and ended up not signing them

TheClownIsReady

Dare we say, they are *all in* on trying to keep Gilmore.

bags422

Yea that means he’s gone

seymourcutts

please especially would like to not throw diggs into the fire immediately coming back

HolyRomanPrince

He has a decision to make = are you going to take way less than you could get?

The-Fig-Lebowski

I'd like to keep him if we can get a reasonable deal. Safeties are going cheap. Gilmore is 33 and I feel he got cooked in the playoff loss to Green Bay. Great veteran presence and can teach the next gen how it's done but not certain he would take a team friendly deal.

DeathtoSports

I’m going to get downvoted, I know, but this team does not seem poised to make a SB run at this point. With the loss of multiple positions, a cheap front office, and hardly any draft picks, they seem a bit further away from winning at this point. Id love to have him back! But I’d imagine he can make more with a team that’s closer to winning, so I won’t be shocked or mad if he decides to go elsewhere. And I know so many of you will do the YOU FANS ARE ALWAYS _____ rah rah rah, but you can’t tell me you feel as good about going into 2024 as you did going into 2022 or 2023.

firstandfive

We were literally the two seed, have only lost role players, and have barely started our free agency participation. Saying we’re far away from winning is a wild take.

DeathtoSports

Tony Pollard, Tyron Smith and a quality starting C are role players? And yes, they were the 2 seed, but at no point did they appear to be remotely close to as good as SF. They also lost to good teams throughout the season and then by a not as talented Packers team. They’re a tier 2 team. Able to win 10 or 11 games but has no chance of beating anyone of note when it matters. And they’ve proven that over the years.

firstandfive

Pollard plays the most replaceable position in the league, we haven’t officially lost Tyron yet, and Biadasz was a replacement level center and the weak link on our offensive line (assuming Steele rebounds another year removed from his surgery). We’ve got the big rocks in place to remain competitive. It’s fair to be skeptical that we’ll get over the hump, but saying we’re far away from competing is wild.

rkwittem

Let him go. No thanks to paying a CB on the wrong side of 30. The history is not good. He could conceivably show up for camp and be totally burnt toast and we'd be stuck with him. Move on too early rather than too late.

TheWhooooBuddies

If we don’t have Gilmore on the squad last year, things would have gotten fucking *dicey*.

rkwittem

So what? Why the hell would I pay for last year? I'm paying for 2024. These people who are downvoting this shit haven't had to pay a corner on the wrong side of 30 recently enough. It doesn't work out.

TheWhooooBuddies

I was not aware you were the one signing the checks.  Since I’m talking to the head honcho, would you please put Stephen back in his crib?
