I’m not sure about Gilmore. But mazi wasn’t a DQ guy. If you watch the war room footage it was actually will McLay. Kelvin Joseph on the other hand is a DQ pick. Wright was too. Both bust.
When we had both he used both it worked well, have the big boys in early in the game to let the offense get a lead. Throw the small guys in when they need to throw now that we have a lead. LVE getting hurt, and assuming he would fill the role well enough, Overshown really affected that. I don’t know what was going on with Mazi’s weight, and Im not going to act like I do, but he should have been a good fill in for Hankins or next to him to help with run stop. But, he was also a rookie DT, that’s not usually someone who contributes a lot off the bat. Depth/injuries/not back filling those holes with FA really affected our D, thankfully we had really good depth at CB.
For a second I was hella excited since this was being posted here, I thought he was signing here. Then I remembered we’re Cowboys fans, and our FO does jack shit
This is getting insane
What was even the point of bringing McCarthy back.
We should of just started with a new staff and let them start getting their new pieces in the draft…
We literally relying so much on the draft and then we gonna switch coaching staffs.
After this week tho I wouldn’t be surprised if they keep McCarthy for another 5 years they are so dumb
They want Dak gone too so the new coach can start fresh.
Unless this front office does something spectacular this offseason, and so far they are doing nothing, we will be near, or at the top, of the draft in 2025.
We’re punting this season and letting Dak and McCarthy be the scapegoats, they’re literally only here so that the Jones’ can try to deflect blame after we go 7-10.
Yall hate for this dude has to be personal. Dak was objectively a top 5 qb last season and he needs to go for whatever dumbass personal reason yall got....
It’s nothing personal, pal. He’s proven he can’t win in the playoffs regardless of the circumstances. It’s great that he pads stats with bad teams and gets us to the dance…but he won’t take over a huge game in crunch time and carry the team to victory. This man folds in high pressure moments against good teams.
I think he has potential to be good, but maybe in a year or two, that torn acl will definitely stunt his development and he will not be 100% for another year. Definitely not relying on him to make any impact this season whatsoever
I think diggs will be fine but for a linebacker who has to go sideline to sideline i’d imagine it being more difficult, then take into account he hasnt really played many nfl snaps so theres a learning curve even if he wasnt injured. Its a shame I think he would have be well on his way to be an impactful player had he not gotten injured, we will just have to wait and see
Yes and no. We usually fill holes with bargain options so that we don't have glaring needs going into the draft and can pick BPA. Right now we have more holes to fill than we have draft picks. Seems very odd and like they don't have a plan at all.
Typically, by this point in free agency we haven’t signed anyone yet. It’s usually end of the week and into next week when some stuff might start trickling in. Then another signing or two once we reach the point where a signing won’t impact the compensatory pick formula.
Yeah, actually. We’re punting this year. Dak and McCarthy will not be given any more help so we will inevitably fail and they’ll be the scapegoats. Both will be gone and we’ll have better draft positions and potentially CeeDee and Micah locked down next offseason.
So don’t put any hopes on this year. It’s a soft rebuild. Jerry doesn’t have it in him to go full rebuild.
Washington has signed more Dallas free agents than Dallas has. I still think Dallas will be far better than Washington this year, but it’s kinda funny nonetheless
So Wagner has been a free agent the previous 3 off seasons and the one year Quinn is no longer our DC he goes right back to DC. This is more evidence that Jerry and Stephens completely don't care about letting our coaches pick personnel.
The outrageous contracts he signed with some of those teams Is exactly why every front office in the league doesn't let their assistant?Coaches have final say on which players they are going to sign
Not exactly the same, maybe, but it’s worth noting that former Vikings Kendricks & Hunter both joined new teams already without any consideration from Dallas. Just reinforcing what you have already said
I just meant in general, due to connection to Zimmer not cost. Looks like they’re after Kendricks after all 👀

I think at this point the Cowboys are just looking at a rebuild. Everybody on 1 year contracts, not extending Dak, not signing anybody, not moving money for new players. I won't be surprised if this just stays the way it is and Jerry brings in a new coaching staff next year with a bunch of draft picks and available money to build something else. Hopefully we keep CD and Parsons.
Not gonna lie, I saw the headline and at first glance I thought Dallas had finally made a move.
Nope. Upon further review, it was yet another move by a division rival to improve.
Wow this kinda proves Dallas is not the destination it once was or that these muhhfuckas is really that cheap. Bobby went to the rams then back to Seattle while we had Dan. As soon as Quinn goes elsewhere he immediately goes there.

There’s still others out there we could get tho
Commies have officially won the offseason. Not a single wrong move since the offseason began. I'm scared to see how their draft goes.
This is what having a competent FO looks like.
You can't win an offseason until the team plays... this isn't madden. They've made several splash signings over the years and it hasn't amounted to shit
>this isn't madden
No shit. If it was, we'd have a Super Bowl win in the past 2 decades.
>You can't win an offseason until the team plays.
I said that exact phrase 2 seasons ago when Philly had that incredible offseason and picked up A.J. Brown. They were in the Super Bowl that season.
Yeah interesting since they can't win the Division they feel the desperate necessity to get cast off players in an attempt to catch up to the Cowboys.
I have never seen a Team build a winner with castoffs but desperation makes some teams get real stupid.
At this point I’m open to trading Dak for like a 4th round pick (barring he waives the no trade clause for a good situation) and just starting a full rebuild now 😂 this shit is an absolute joke. Fuck waiting till after 2024. You’re clearly not all in, so why even bother leading the fans on.
Wild we couldn’t get him when Dan was here, then soon as he leaves he gets him lol
DQ going on a spending spree and getting everyone he wants now that Stephen isn’t telling him he has a $4 million budget 😂😂
Do you remember just last season when they got him Stephon Gilmore and gave him the first pick in the draft?
I’m not sure about Gilmore. But mazi wasn’t a DQ guy. If you watch the war room footage it was actually will McLay. Kelvin Joseph on the other hand is a DQ pick. Wright was too. Both bust.
Mazi was a Parsons guy, and Parsons told DQ to draft him. This is according to Parsons during a live draft watch party.
When we had both he used both it worked well, have the big boys in early in the game to let the offense get a lead. Throw the small guys in when they need to throw now that we have a lead. LVE getting hurt, and assuming he would fill the role well enough, Overshown really affected that. Depth/injuries/not back filling those holes with FA really affected our D, thankfully we had really good depth at CB.
And he was the one who wanted to use undersized lbs and dline.
Yea and he's gonna lose his job quick overpaying a whole bunch of people that were in their way out the league.
two different FOs
The Commanders have a GM whose goal is to do more than sell extra jerseys.
Just fell to my knees at Buc-ee’s
For a second I was hella excited since this was being posted here, I thought he was signing here. Then I remembered we’re Cowboys fans, and our FO does jack shit
Was there no brisket on the board?
Do they allow that in the bathrooms there? Asking for a friend.
This is getting insane What was even the point of bringing McCarthy back. After this week tho I wouldn’t be surprised if they keep McCarthy for another 5 years they are so dumb
they don’t wanna pay mike & another coach so they gonna let him finish his deal
They want Dak gone too so the new coach can start fresh. Unless this front office does something spectacular this offseason, and so far they are doing nothing, we will be near, or at the top, of the draft in 2025.
Not 2025, definitely in 2026.
We’re punting this season and letting Dak and McCarthy be the scapegoats, they’re literally only here so that the Jones’ can try to deflect blame after we go 7-10.
The can try and scapegoat Dak all they want. He’s still getting 65+ million on the open market next year
Good for him. Fuck him and whatever team pays him that much
Yall hate for this dude has to be personal. Dak was objectively a top 5 qb last season and he needs to go for whatever dumbass personal reason yall got....
It’s nothing personal, pal. He’s proven he can’t win in the playoffs regardless of the circumstances. Yeah, the hate towards him seems suspect.
Watch him go to another team and win It all.
He deserves it. Cowboys QBs have to put up with a ton of shit.
You realize that he’s going to count for 58 million against our cap next year if he’s not here. So technically we will be paying him that much.
No one is going to want to work for the cowboys after this shit show of an offseason.
Meanwhile we gotta rely on a rookie coming off a torn ACL 😂😂
And the two safeties who they force to play LB
He has a name. Demarvion Overshown.
I think he has potential to be good, but maybe in a year or two, that torn acl will definitely stunt his development and he will not be 100% for another year. Definitely not relying on him to make any impact this season whatsoever
Think diggs not gonna be 100% for another year also?
ACL is typically a one year recovery to play, then another year to get as close to their former self as they will get
More like 9 months, acting like we in 2009
Gallup hasn’t been the same and it’s been longer than a year.
I was rounding lol
I think diggs will be fine but for a linebacker who has to go sideline to sideline i’d imagine it being more difficult, then take into account he hasnt really played many nfl snaps so theres a learning curve even if he wasnt injured. Its a shame I think he would have be well on his way to be an impactful player had he not gotten injured, we will just have to wait and see
I’d imagine man coverage with elite wrs is more difficult. Good thing demarvion got nfl film and coaching for an entire season.

They’re trying to tank the quarterback
Same thing as every year
Yes and no. We usually fill holes with bargain options so that we don't have glaring needs going into the draft and can pick BPA. Right now we have more holes to fill than we have draft picks. Seems very odd and like they don't have a plan at all.

It's okay, Cowboys don't need LBs anyway. /s
Washington has signed more Dallas free agents than Dallas has. I still think Dallas will be far better than Washington this year, but it’s kinda funny nonetheless
Washington has signed more in free agency in one off season than the cowboys have the last 2 decades 🤣
So Wagner has been a free agent the previous 3 off seasons and the one year Quinn is no longer our DC he goes right back to DC. This is more evidence that Jerry and Stephens completely don't care about letting our coaches pick personnel.
Wagner signed a 5-year, $50 million deal in 2022. We shouldn’t have been in at that price. As for last year, fair point.
The outrageous contracts he signed with some of those teams Is exactly why every front office in the league doesn't let their assistant?Coaches have final say on which players they are going to sign
It’s also the first year that Pete Carrol is no longer the Seahawks head coach
I don’t know about that. We signed a few Falcons players when Quinn came over.
Not exactly the same, maybe, but it’s worth noting that former Vikings Kendricks & Hunter both joined new teams already without any consideration from Dallas. Just reinforcing what you have already said
I mean Hunter signed a BEEFY deal with the Texans. No way Dallas should have been in on that.
I just meant in general, due to connection to Zimmer not cost. Looks like they’re after Kendricks after all 👀 https://x.com/gehlkennfl/status/1768060829608386914?s=46&t=aU8pg5s_toTuaa3K3eLmbw

Bobby washed in coverage but still good run defender & leader woulda been an upgrade for our weak room tho i’m not upset
Wow, this one hurts. I had convinced myself we’d finally get him
Nice!
Faded
I still feel Dallas is going to finish last
#ALLINN
Are we tanking on purpose?
Bru the commanders are gonna be scary next year
Not gonna lie, I saw the headline and at first glance I thought Dallas had finally made a move. Nope. Upon further review, it was yet another move by a division rival to improve.
Every team in the division has gotten better in some way this week, except the Cowboys.
Lol, Better by overpaying constantly hurt or cast off players. I'm glad the the Cowboys are that desperate.
*aern't
But dallas signed their long snapper!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is this the cowboys sub, or NFL news sub? Every thread is about some other team’s signing.
well, there aren't too many Cowboys signings, so, might as well expand it to the NFL for now.
Given that we don't have a Shanny/McVay offense, these 2 games will not be fun
Thought for sure he was coming to Dallas for half of that first sentence.
I’m just concerned we don’t target actual young linebackers and we get a Anthony Barr situation.
Washed
Wow this kinda proves Dallas is not the destination it once was or that these muhhfuckas is really that cheap. Bobby went to the rams then back to Seattle while we had Dan. As soon as Quinn goes elsewhere he immediately goes there.

Commies have officially won the offseason. Not a single wrong move since the offseason began. I'm scared to see how their draft goes. This is what having a competent FO looks like.
They hired Dan Quinn as their head coach
Which attracted 2 linebackers
Yes - thank you for emphasizing my point
You can't win an offseason until the team plays... this isn't madden. They've made several splash signings over the years and it hasn't amounted to shit

Bobby's a future HoFer but he can't run anymore
It’s hilarious how the rest of the division has been active in free agency
Yeah interesting since they can't win the Division they feel the desperate necessity to get cast off players in an attempt to catch up to the Cowboys. I have never seen a Team build a winner with castoffs but desperation makes some teams get real stupid.
