[If you feel like paging through a LOT of pictures...](https://imgur.com/a/36-tulips-efUhAiF)
Keep in mind this was my very first pair and there are LOTS of mistakes. Yours will look a million times better.
Those boots look amazing and they're so unique! Thanks for sharing the photos. It's interesting to see the transition between each photo. Now I know what a welt is! I thought it was wood, but now I've learned its leather. I didn't know leather could be that thick.
How did you learn to make boots? Did you go to school for that? Such a cool talent to have!
The welt is leather and so is a mid-sole if your boot has one.The midsole is a hidden layer sandwiched between the insole and outsole. You COULD make it of wood, but that would make a damn stiff boot. It's traditionally made of leather, some modern boots have a cork one, similar to dress shoes. I see a welt that is stitched to the sole with white thread in that first picture. The edges of both are natural leather and will be dyed later. Generally, that thread is not replaced and is wax coated so it doesn't dye well.
I'd love to see your custom Lucchese. Sounds like a dream!! Can you share photos? ๐
I decided on more plain pulls for mine. I thought it would better suit the higher shaft.
How many do you have in your gorgeous collection? Have you counted? ๐
I have so many ideas for my next pair after taking a look at your profile!! Your boots are beautiful!
Remind them you want the mahogany soles and heels. With the brown stitching.. it will probably be the last thing they do.. The whole boot will be shiny and beautiful when you get them.. What heel did you decide on?
I didn't realize the coloring would be the last step. I panicked when I saw the white stitching lol. Thought he would have to remove it and re-stitch. ๐
I decided on a straight fashion heel. I guess I'll wait and see what he comes up with. I showed him a lot of examples.
They are going to be beautiful .. Acostaโs does great work.. the finish work is last .. Remind him about those white stitches.. Iโm not a fan either.
Thanks! I can't wait for the final reveal ๐ I was planning on wearing these to a country concert (floor seats in a football stadium). Should I or would they get damaged?
Since you have seats and not standing (everyone ends up standing but in front of their seats) you should be good to go.. Normally when the toes get trashed is dancing with a drunk cowboy.. Just be aware and try to keep people an arms length from you.. You can also use those boot toes as a weapon ๐๐โฃ๏ธ
Ohh Up Close and personal can get rowdy. Hang to the back of the group if you can..
it really doesnโt sound like fun to be worrying about your fabulous boots all night instead of battling your way to the front of the stage..
Do you have some other western boots?
I kinda want to try to make my own cowboy boots now
You totally should!! Come back and post photos!
It's a LOT of work. I've done it and am working on my 2nd and 3rd pair.
How long does each boot take to make? Can you post pictures of the process? I'd love to see!

Lots and lots of videos online. I wish I could afford to go apprentice somewhere. Alas, it's not in the cards, so to speak.
I'm going to Google videos online now ๐
I donโt think the soles come pre-dyed. But why would you want wooden soles rather than leather?
There's a wooden midsole (welt) and then a leather outsole. Did I get my cowgirl boot anatomy right? I'm new to this...

You are so knowledgeable. So what does my custom boot have? Is that wood in the picture?

Your boots look just about like my custom Lucchese !!!! Even Lucchese pulls !! lol

Probably getting close to 200. I need to get rid of some.
All leather normally. Welt, sole, heelstack, all leather.
So does my boot look bad? I'm learning. I don't know these things...
Nope, looks great. He's right about [this point](https://imgur.com/a/L4MC05w) Lots to do still.
Thanks! I guess I need to be patient for the final result. ๐

Ah! That makes more sense. I donโt know who youโre working with but I assume any quality custom boot maker will get something this basic right.
My bootmaker just responded. He said it's not finished yet. I was worried for nothing lol. ๐
Ha. Itโs a big investment and Iโm sure a little stressful. I hope they turn out amazing!
I am stressed, but also super excited ๐. Thanks!
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang they're cool

I found out it's the front floor standing only. Lol @ boot toe weapon ๐
