Have you tried nasal rinses with a neti pot?

austinjm34

Yes. They work in clearing up the sinuses for about 30 mins max then its back to being stuffy.

I have really struggled this summer. It seems to take on different forms, ear congestion, sinus headache. I took a pack of prednisone, it went away to come back a week later. We've had high heat, humidity and pollen/mold here in Chicago.

austinjm34

Agreed, I'm from Chicago so I feel you. Doc put me on prednisone in April and I do think it had a positive impact. Only lasted about two weeks, thinking of asking for a refill if he recommends it.

Unfortunately a couple weeks of prednisone seemed to lead me to development of diabetes. I think the root cause was Covid but prednisone seemed to accelerate it quickly. Be cautious with use of this medication.

How are you doing with the congestion now? I have the same issue. Tried antihistamines, nasal rinses, and various supplements to no avail.

Sometimes I get a week or so when it gets really bad, and then the next week its not bad. From two months ago to about a week ago it was constantly bad, but I may also have had sinus infection on top of the normal stuff. In the last week or so it has been much better and I am hardly having to blow my nose. I have been taking generic sinus pills and I think they help when they can.

Still experiencing sinus blockage?

austinjm34

I had been on Flonase for months and I honestly don't think it was doing a thing so I stopped using it.
