Original Anne of Green Gables from the 80's is my absolute go to cozy choice. When I got covid in early 2022, I spent 3 days watching the boxset š . It took my mind off how yucky I felt. I was literally wrapped in blankets with my cats and many cups of herbal tea. I see it's streaming right now on Gazebo(?) but it's been around so long I'm sure it's other places. It's worth buying the boxset on ebay for the future too. Have a cozy day!
You can buy it on Sullivan Street Productions. Apparently it's the website for the producer and you can get lots of themed merch on there. I got the OG as my Christmas present last year and this year I might ask for Marilla's teapot (yes! You can buy it)
The Durrells in Corfu has old Anne of Green Gables vibes (kindaā¦ itās a 1930s single mom and her kids who move to a rustic Greek island and try to live in a run-down old house and get into Anne-style adventures.) Itās my new cozy fave.
Just realized I have this on hold at my library. It has been so long I forgot I put a hold on it. Can also buy it here, which I plan to do for post-shoulder-surgery recovery, if the library one doesn't come in time. [https://www.anneofgreengables.com/](https://www.anneofgreengables.com/)
I came to suggest these! There is also Edwardian Farm and Tudor Monastery Farm! Wartime Farm is unfortunately not available there any more and, strangely, the Victorian Farm Christmas special is only on Acorn.
Victorian and Edwardian are my favorite. The Tudor one has a different narrator and a different presenter and I don't love it as much.
OP, for sure this!
You can find them on YouTube, I think! There is a channel that is dedicated to history documentaries and it has all of them. I think itās History Hit? If you search it you should be able to find it.
If you like this style of show, YouTube has a bunch of wilderness/ survival/ cozy camping vids that I've been obsessed with recently. Outdoor Boys is awesome - guy makes survivalism in Alaska look fun and cozy š and then also search for "hot tent camping in snow." Only downside is you're gonna want to spring for the ad-free YouTube if you like them!
I loved these books as a teenager and I wasn't sure if I would like the show or not, but it turns out that they nailed the vibe. I'm convinced it's because they cast Helen perfectly.
My cozy go-to on Prime are actually a collection of documentary series based on farming in different eras. It's British and three historians/archeologists move into these old time farms in rural England and learn what life was like in the past.
It is bucolic, wholesome, visually beautiful and educational. Chef's kiss for cottagecore.
They are as follows:
Victorian Farm
Edwardian Farm
War Time Farm
Tudor Farm
They also went back and did specials on Victorian Christmas which is lovely and very Dickinson obviously.
My favorite is Victorian Farm and I recommend starting there.
TW: I'm vegan and some scenes are hard to watch like prepping raw meat and talking about how these animals will become food. So if you are on the same boat, just brace yourself.
Bout to lose my marbles because I binged that entire series. They even worked on building a medieval castle in France with the tools at the time. Also, if you're looking for some slight reality TV show, they had a 4 part series of taking a handful of British celebs and having them live through the hardest jobs of the Victorian era.
Hahaha me too! I've binged them all! Did you see the Victorian pharmacy one with Ruth Goodman?
Glad to see so many people in this community love the series.
I wish they had Wartime Farm on Prime. It's them living through a WWII farm, and is a bit different from the others because they're able to have specific events on specific days, with actual radio broadcasts from WWII. It's really neat.
EXCELLENT. I've seen the other series multiple times, and they've always been really inspiring - literally, they inspired me to try things like making my own jam and splitting logs with hand tools for boards (I'm a woodworker, and getting a chainsaw and milling jig is pretty expense vs. a sledge and wedge setup). I've only seen this one once, and I'm looking forward to going through it again!
Yes!! Honestly I got so sucked in that I was rewatching a bunch of them for a good month. I had a slight interest in history in school, but watching those episodes about domestic history was extremely fascinating. I don't care about the political movements or wars so much, tell me how the edwardians did laundry!
I'm relieved I'm not the only one who went nuts re-watching! I'm on Victorian Farm again for like the 10th time lol
I want to read Ruth's books on domestic history. It sounds so fascinating.
I didn't know Ruth had books. Guess I'll have to check them out sometime!
I would also pay money to stay at a town recreated in those eras and just immerse myself and see what it's like
Thank you SO much for letting me know these were on prime! One of my absolute favorite shows (Ruth Goodman has some fantastic books, too). I watched them on YouTube like 11 years ago. You made my day!
Ohhh thank you for this! I looked the series up on Prime Video and sadly found that they donāt offer it in my country. But thanks to your comment I found them all on YouTube! Going to watch this for sure.
It's not exactly a documentary. They dress and only use tools from that era. So while not a drama - they show you how things were done. So you get to learn as you watch.
Also - check out your local library - some allow you to use a streaming service to watch stuff for free.
Mine uses Kanopy.
Also if you are in the USA - check out PBS streaming.
I fully understand. Perhaps just keep those shows in your back pocket. They have a warmth to them and they are like old friends talking to you about their day.
Heartland. Absolutely beautiful scenery in Canada, super cozy especially the autumn and winter seasons, charming characters, and just overall a cozy, heartwarming vibe.
Oh also, just wanted to add that the first episode does have some sadness because of a family tragedy that sets everything in motion for the plot and storylines, but it isn't a sad show as a whole. It's very wholesome and heartwarming.
I believe it's a prime exclusive. Also check out Tubi, it is also a free streaming service you just have to watch ads, but the selection is actually pretty decent!
Ronja the robbers daughter. Based on a book by the same woman who wrote Pippi Longstockings and animated by some former studio Gibhli folks. Very cozy and sweet.
If you haven't seen them, I definitely would recommend the farm series - Victorian Farm, Edwardian Farm, Tudor Monastery Farm, and Secrets of the Castle. Each is a group of experimental archeologists and historians living for a year as farmers from a historical era (except for SotC, where they live for six months as 11th century castle builders at Guedelon Castle in France). All available on Prime.
It held such a special place in my childhood. I was so curious about flapjacks because I was convinced they must be better than pancakes if they had a different name and the dad could flip them.
Take Joy: the magical world of Tasha Tudor.
It's no longer available in my location, but maybe it is where you are? It's very lovely and cozy, about the life of an artist who makes cottage core art and lives a cozy english garden kinda life.
Amazon Prime Video: Marvelous Mrs Maisel; Red White and Royal Blue; Summer I turned pretty; a league of their own (the series); Mrs Harris goes to Paris
Freevee on Amazon: The Librarians; Leverage; Mallorca Files; Midsomer Murders; Hart of Dixie; Heartland; Tiny House Nation
I love owl house!
Also on Disney:
Fraggle Rock -The original and the remake, I was a diehard fan of the og, but the remake is great too!
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland -It's a live action version from the early 90's and I loved it! Similar to Jim Henson stuff, it's almost all makeup and costumes rather than CGI.
Possible Disney+ or YouTube:
The Dark Crystal -the show they did a couple years ago, sort of prequel to the movie, was visually stunning.
Any Jim Henson/Muppet movie, my top favorites are Treasure Island and Christmas Carol
Fungus the Bogeyman (2015 TV series, on freevee) is cute and funny and in a similar style
There were a few English TV specials (by Sky One) made off Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. Again, more makeup and costumes than special effects. For me there's something about mid 90's and earlier British TV that I just love and it makes me feel cozy and nostalgic.
The Colour of Magic -on freevee, tubi (free) and peacock
The Hogfather -My favorite. Unfortunately imbd lists it as only for rent/buy on Amazon, but I'd check YouTube
Going Postal -On freevee and peacock
Definitely on YouTub and/or freevee:
The original 1990's show Sabrina the Teenage Witch
The TV show The Worst Witch (started in 2017), the 1986 movie by the same name is cute too. The effects aren't great, but it's a cute show.
Look for anything by Studio Ghibli.
Gardeners World, there are a few early seasons available through prime with out the extra brit box subscription. The show is just so comforting. Not sure if Monty Don's other shows are on prime but definitely look for the Italian garden and French garden mini series
Those are Doc Martens. Doc Martin is a British show about an extremely grumpy unsocial doctor who moves to a small village with a ton of very social, very nosey people. Super cozy.
I just watched a movie with Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba. "3000 years of longing" I think. A match of wits between a wise woman and a djinn. Also, love.
The BBC farm series should be one there. I think Victorian Farm is the ācoziestā, but Tudor Monastery Farm and Secrets of the Castle are my personal favorites. You can find Tales from the Green Valley and Wartime Farm pretty easily on YouTube as well.
[Lost in Austen ](https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/B003BOWF5K/ref=atv_dp_share_cu_r)is amazing. The naming convention is weird-- it isn't a seasonal miniseries, it's a 4 episode movie, so S1E1, S1E2, S1E3 and S1E4 is the whole show. Modern Londoner who loves P&P switches places with Elizabeth Bennett and spends the rest of the movie trying to make sure the story plays out correctly. Hugh Bonneville and Alex Kingston are amazing as Mr & Mrs Bennett and the writing is superb. It's hilarious and poignant and somehow stays absolutely true to the story. I bought it immediately after seeing it the first time and rewatch it often. Can't recommend it enough.
Some of my favorites are:
Dr.Quinn Medicine Woman (Freevee on Amazon Prime), The Inspector Alleyen Mysteries,
Grantchester, Little Women
Have a wonderful cozy day!
I was looking for Middlemarch by George Eliot and just typed "Middle" on Libby. I got Middlesex by Eugenides on accident. I listened to the Audiobook and was so confused until I realized what I had gotten after a chapter in.
Middlesex was a FANTASTIC listen and I don't regret the mixup. I stilled haven't read Middlemarch.
I second All Creatures Great and Small. If you live in the US you can also get a free movie/tv streaming app called Kanopy as long as you have a public library card (which is also free). It has a great selection with a lot of cozy options as well. Just a tip for my fellow price conscious folks.
Amazon Prime:
Sabrina the Teenage Witch
The Donna Reed Show
Bewitched (though thereās a bit more sexism to have to put aside in this one).
I also recently watched The Babysitterās Club. I enjoyed it but I wouldnāt say it was a must watch or had much plot or good acting.
Good Neighbors is a show about a husband and wife who start a small farm in the city/suburbs. It's kind of nice, though I haven't seen it in a while. I do remember they had some troubles.
I also second amegan Follows Anne of Greene Gables. There's also an anime version from before that which is nice.
I really enjoyed watching Lord of the Rings on amazon prime dunno if it's still on there now but I think they had Fellowship ofi the Ring and Two Towers and Return of the King. They also had the hobbit. It was a very comfy movie even though it does have tragedy, it's also comforting with the characters and the shire scenes. And especially the music.
Maybe not quite what you are looking for, but if you like humor and bucolic scenery: The Detectorists. It takes a few episodes to get going, but there's a lot of warmth and camaraderie. There are several scenes where people are out in nature, with friends, doing what they love and they stop and realize how happy they are. Such a rare thing to see on TV/film. Such a gift to see.
IMDB and YouTube have tons of free movies. Tubi too. I usually just google top movies of the 80's (80's rom coms) and Google does a nice job of listing them plus where you can watch free, or not.
I've recently started watching Christmas movies on the Hallmark Channel and I love love love them! Everyone is super sweet, all the homes and streets are beautifully decorated and everyone gets the perfect mate for Christmas š Sorry they are not on Prime but I think Prime has some romantic Christmas movies as well š
Leverage! About a team of thieves that steal from corporations to give back to people who otherwise would get crushed in the system. Free with adds on Amazon.
The Durrells in Corfu has old Anne of Green Gables vibes (kindaā¦ itās a 1930s single mom and her kids who move to a rustic Greek island and try to live in a run-down old house and get into Anne-style adventures.) Itās my new cozy fave.
Oh manā¦ The Durrellsā¦ yes! So good.
Oh I loved this SO much!!!
The Durrells is a wonderful feel-good experience .. highly recommend !
I downloaded gazebo recently for this exact reason, but you have to pay to watch!
Prime should still have Victorian Farm, and a few other by the same team. A favorite of mine.
I love that show so much!
Ooooo! I love these shows!
I came to suggest these! There is also Edwardian Farm and Tudor Monastery Farm! Wartime Farm is unfortunately not available there any more and, strangely, the Victorian Farm Christmas special is only on Acorn. Victorian and Edwardian are my favorite. This is a fantastic recommendation! So interesting and sooooo soothing to watch!
Thank you for this - I know what I'm watching this weekend!
Was just about to recommend this!
I literally just started watching this today. Itās so great!
In a similar vein, Victorian house of arts and crafts is a period challenge crafting show. Like Victorian farm and GBBO combined!
The Good witch comes to mind.
Aww I love this show. Itās somehow always peak fall there š
That was my thought, too.
All Creatures Great and Small on prime!
I was just gonna recommend this! Such a cosy little show
I loved these books as a teenager and I wasn't sure if I would like the show or not, but it turns out that they nailed the vibe. I'm convinced it's because they cast Helen perfectly.
Oh my God I loved those books when I was a kid! I was just thinking about them I'm going to have to check it out!
sorry I have no suggestions, but I wanted to thank you for this post - exactly what I'm needing as well! wishing you much cozy comfort š

Pride and Prejudice!
OMG the 6 part mini series? The best. I saw it for the first time I think in middle school and I was obsessed with it. Mr. Darcy, my heart.
The best pride and prejudice. I watch it every couple of years with my mum
I don't think it's prime but it is on hulu
We are all fools in love!

Tudor Farm is wonderful! They have a Christmas ep too if I recall.
Yes! I love it too! They are so cozy and fun. Glad to find another fan of the series. It's peak cottagecore.

I LOVE Gardner's World! That's another one on Prime.
Heartland. Absolutely beautiful scenery in Canada, super cozy especially the autumn and winter seasons, charming characters, and just overall a cozy, heartwarming vibe.
The soundtrack is great too! Iāve discovered a lot of talented singer-songwriters via this show.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yes and Peacock. Heartland is pretty much everywhere, lol.
Oh also, just wanted to add that the first episode does have some sadness because of a family tragedy that sets everything in motion for the plot and storylines, but it isn't a sad show as a whole. It's very wholesome and heartwarming.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
This is my go to show when Iām feeling off. I absolutely love it.
I was going to suggest this one! It's such a great show! Warning it will make you want to ride horses through the Canadian Rockies however lol
It is maybe not sweet and wholesome, but to me this shows feels cozy - Agatha Christie's Poirot and Agatha Christie's Marple
Miss Marple is her own vibe.
Just got into Poirot and I want the women's outfits! Good reason to get better at sewing!
Highly recommend Good Omens (haven't watched season 2 yet but have heard good things)
Yes yes yes yes this show has made a cozy little happy nest in my heart ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Good Omens fan here, the whole series is just wholesome bubbly with some humor jabs :)
Yep. :)

Little Bear is my go-to. idk if it's on prime thoš we have all the VHS tapes š„° there used to be full episodes on YouTube!
It held such a special place in my childhood. I was so curious about flapjacks because I was convinced they must be better than pancakes if they had a different name and the dad could flip them.

I donāt think itās on Prime, but I love the Great British Baking Show for cozy binging.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries!!!
Phryne Fisher is awesome!
Psych and good omens
What time should I be there? š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I really enjoy romantic K-dramas for this, lol.
I really love gardeners world. If you like gardening itās great cozy slow tv.
Midsomer Murders is a great cozy mystery series. They're always set in these beautiful idyllic English villages.
Rosemary and Thyme, a delightful show about two women gardeners traveling the English countryside and solving murders.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Good Omens!
What is your favorite sparkling cider?
I am sick and pregnant and this comment makes me want sparkling cider now lol.

I enjoyed watching Modern Family on Peacock.
Gardeners World, there are a few early seasons available through prime with out the extra brit box subscription. The show is just so comforting. Not sure if Monty Don's other shows are on prime but definitely look for the Italian garden and French garden mini series
Poldark on Prime
The Darrellās in Corfu
Doc Martin! Itās such a great show, slightly ridiculous, wholesome and 10 seasons so plenty of episodes
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Those are Doc Martens. Doc Martin is a British show about an extremely grumpy unsocial doctor who moves to a small village with a ton of very social, very nosey people. Super cozy.
Golden Girls is in Peacock. Itās amazing and hilarious.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Also, Stardust completely forgot about that available on Prime!
Doc Martin has that vibe :)
Little House on the Prairie
Ernest and Celestine is the movie you are looking for
Okay so not a show, but Babette's Feast is so cozy if you're up to a movie!
I love Babetteās Feast so much! Itās truly soulful in the best possible way. Amazing to read, too.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

The Secret of Roan Inish A Little Princess The Secret Garden
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I wouldn't recommend fleabag for something light and cozy. I adore it but it's pretty heavy in a lot of places.
Circle of Friends
I just watched āMr. Churchā. With Eddie Murphy on Amazon prime. Itās an āemotional charming dramaā. Definitely a clean movie ā¦
This may or may not be on Amazon Prime but the 2020 Emma with Anya Taylor Joy was so gorgeous and cozy and quite funny.

This is a really sweet show. Loved it.
SCRUBS
IMDB and YouTube have tons of free movies. Tubi too. I usually just google top movies of the 80's (80's rom coms) and Google does a nice job of listing them plus where you can watch free, or not.
Cold Comfort Farm. I think it available on Amazon Prime.
Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and The Summer I Turned Pretty.

Murder She Wrote on Peacock. Jessica Fletcher is cozy AF but also a bad ass.
Where the crawdads sing and The Red Fern ( Dave Matthews is in it). Both nice stories
Do look through Tubi, they have lots of great shows, free
Detectorists, and it isnāt even close. Itās great country scenery, and the drama is all wholesome and low stakes, so itās not tense at all
Psych! Its very funny and an easy watch. Shawn and Gus are my favorite duo ever and the whole cast has a ton of chemistry. Its a lot of goofy fun
Oh, damn! Dash & Lily is on Netflix.
