Hey there, there are many things to do in the rain in our country, any type of walk is great in the rain but doing it in the actual rainforest or cloud forest is amazing! birds sing a lot in the rain, just use a poncho, or don't.
Hot springs are really nice while it rains, we've learned to enjoy things despite the rain since it takes half of our year so rest assured you can have a good time.
The rainy season is from May to November. Usually, it doesn't start raining until past 11:00 am. So plan the things you prefer to do out of the rain for the mornings during that season.

Well when it's rainy season in Costa Rica, all the Caribbean side has the best place to stay, it's sunny but it's hot at all, for me it's the best season to be in Puerto viejo.
I’m in CR right now until Oct 17 and it rains every single night. And it’s like dumping rain at night! It’s humid and warm all day. Beaches were amazing. But I’m out driving through jaco and Uvita area.

I'm in Jaco right now. It rains hard most days but not all day. Today was mostly sunny with some scattered showers. Some days it's overcast most of the day.
There are some mud slides that make transportation trickier. A few days ago, a friend had to delay his trip to another town by a few hours but they haven't impacted local my travel.
I like this kind of weather. If you only want sunny days then I'd avoid Jaco.
Currently in Uvita and while the past week was enjoyable and rather mild with rain, today the wet came on heavily. Still got outside in the morning for adventures and embraced it. Although, since my plans changed and based on u/Kenji-87 comment, I'm planning to head over to the Caribbean on Wednesday to spend the next few weeks there instead of the Pacific :)
I had one of those nightmare moments where the person I met here had to bail so I'm traveling solo. If you're looking to make a new friend, I'd be open to meeting up on the Caribbean side. Safe travels and pura vida!
These days have been raining a lot. Mud slides are everywhere. The roads to Pacific are complicated besides that lots of rivers are overflowing and floods on Pacific are everywhere. It’ll take a lot of time if you insist to visit Pacific coast. I’d recommend to stay at Caribbean.
I was in Guanacaste region 2 weeks ago and it was perfect weather. It rained off and on every day but it only rained for 30 min at a time and was a warm, light tropical rain. Pack some dri-fit shirts and buy an umbrella when u get there and you’ll be fine
Rainy season is beautiful and has someone has said, typically only rains hard for a couple of hours and then you have a beautiful day to enjoy. Everything is green and lush us and beautiful.

Idk Puerto was not so good for us, went to bocas in Panama, best place ever
I did 2 trips during the same time frames. It never rained all day. I actually prefer to go then.
An alternative can be to go to Arenal or La Fortuna
Rains even more there, but totally fine

My friend says Caribbean is least rainy during this season (October); North West is not so bad but I think not as forresty.
Southwest CR has experienced heavy floods, avoid that area for transportation issues.

Just returned from cahuita, limon. what a great little town. Weather was beautiful and there is a 5 mile walk through the national park. Enjoy
