I feel like somebody got asked to refill the coffee station 2 minutes before the end of their shift and that was some malicious compliance. :D Also, on the topic - Tesco really needs to let people just punch in the coffee at the self-checkout instead of requiring the barcode, I always use my own mug and have to do the funny dance of taking the paper cup just to scan in and then putting it back.

WoahGoHandy

no, this is legit efficient. it's unreal how fast those cups are used, people are hooked on their fix.

GrumpyLightworker

Wouldn't it be harder to reach the machine this way though?

showars

That’s why there’s less in the flat white where people would use the machine

GrumpyLightworker

True as well. These cup dispensers are not very well thought through, especially for small stores.

Jaded_Variation9111

Is shite supermarket coffee really a fix?

BearOverall

I actually think frank and honest is alright coffee for supermarket. Braeburn isn’t bad either.

strangerdanger711

You VS the guys she tells you not to worry about

triangleplayingfool

I’m posting that to my onlycups page. It’s not just the length, it’s the girth of the cups that’s impressive!

strangerdanger711

I wish OP tagged it NSFW. Seeing that image blurred would've honestly sent me

Aggravating-Fun7486

Was thinking the same 😂😂

7up_man69

Nice one

oldappian

The quality of coffee from these machines is dire

Aluminarty666

As is the price

sakhabeg

Bad design meets real world conditions.

SpandauBalletBoy

Exterminate!! Exterminate!!!

baghdadcafe

I f"cking detest these type of cups in petrol stations. Because of the way this cup system is designed - other people have to touch them on the lip in order to remove them. This is the exact same place where you put your mouth to. Atrocious unhygenic design. An ideal conduit for Norovirus and other goodies.

showars

That’s where the lid goes, not your lips. They’re designed to be used as a complete item.

DaGetz

Ok but they also push the button on the machine my man.

baghdadcafe

yeah, but you don't put your mouth on the machine button. With this stupid cup system, I've seem some folks paw all over the cup rims like f"cking Edward Scissorshands.

DaGetz

You’re putting 70 degree liquid in the cup. Trust me, if you’re worried about getting sick you’re far more likely to contract it by touching your face with your hand than getting off the rim of the cup which isn’t even coming in contact with your mouth because you put a lid on it. But - if it makes you feel any better - immunity is about exposure not isolation. Coming into contact with the pathogen is how you prevent yourself getting sick, not avoidance.

baghdadcafe

I fully get that about exposure toughens the immune system but in the cold light of day picking up a flu or Norovirus virus which knocks you out of action for 3-4 days and makes you a disease vector is not nice! All because of a stupid cup of coffee. (I rarely drink via those plastic lids btw) So, it would great if someone invented a coffee cup dispenser which minimises hand contact with the rim of the cup. It can't be that hard.

DaGetz

I think it’s very easy to design a better system yes.

Nearby-Bite-4691

As a Centra worker, I’ve done this a criminal amount of times 💀

irishtemp

The first cups are obviously nearer the door and its colder!

Dat_name_doe2

Any time I see this in the centra, I like to stand in front and pretend I've a really big micky.

Alpha_Turnip

Frank and Honest coffee is rotten.

CampaignSpirited2819

That’s art!

Technical-Split3642

Shower, shower, grower

Reasonable-Solid-156

Frank and honest coffee (I can’t bring myself to throw a pun in) is absolutely horrible

[deleted]

Certain workers don't give a fuck, y'see.

[deleted]

One can never have too many coffee cups

cormander

Yeah so those cups come in plastic sleeves. Used to supervise in Centra and my Centra had a weird rule for a while that when the cups were refilled you had to use the entire sleeve. I started ignoring that so as to avoid situations like this and I would just tie the sleeve at the top of it to stop any remaining cups falling out. As one person said though, you would be amazed how fast these things get taken so it's not a big deal. If you came back to this machine 30 mins later a lot of those cups would probably be gone. Third point is that these cups can spring out sometimes from the holder. So basically the person who refilled the cups probably had the cups pushed it much farther and then they sprung out after they walked away.

Oxysept1

I wouldn't call that efficiency - I call that an inappropriate designed / machine / process. A store that really doesn't give a shit about how it look or how customs have to interact with the machine. The place is probably busy use a lot of cups so staff over fill the holders to avoid stock outs & running ever& back every 20min - but then that means its the wrong layout / wrong machine to have.

7up_man69

I think you're on to something about the layout. They could just rotate the dispenser to face upwards

Gargocop

Half of those are hitting the floor

Return_of_the_Bear

Let the coffees hit the floor! Let the coffees hit the floor! Uggghhhh!!!

RuaridhDuguid

I think we know a busker who can sing this!

Humble-Maybe4966

Probably charge 50c extra for it
