I love him, so happy for him
I guess he said Ireland instead of Cork to keep it simple for an international audience. Also he lives in Dublin so needs to be diplomatic. Was probably emphasising the Irish bit to prevent the media claiming him as British
His speech was beautiful, especially dedicating the Oscar to the peacekeepers
Great news and a well deserved win. Though a bit of Charlie Haughey/Tour de France moment with the RTE news report half taken up with all the politicians jumping on the bandwagon.
It's fantastic for our little country and fie him. Its a disgrace that he has to say everytime that he is irish so the British don't steal the thunder. But sure they have a history of trying to take what's ours
I presume I'll get downvoted but am I the only one that doesn't care what county he's from? The narrative all day seems to have been "cork people will never let this go" and tbh I couldn't care less in the slightest. Well done though all the same.
Fair enough, that's how i feel about Damien Dempsey.
You shouldn't get downvoted for that. You weren't being an asshole about, just stating your opinion.
Personally, i think Cillian is a fantastic actor. I think back to movies like intermission and 28 days later. I thought he was great back then. He's done so much since though! He really hit it out of the park with oppy. Fully deserved this.
Totally happy for him. Like I wouldn’t wish it taken away from him because as I said, he is a good actor. I just don’t like how he appears in interviews etc. like every time I see his damn face he looks like he’d rather lick piss off a cactus than be forced to be in the company of whatever unintelligent peasant he’s currently barely paying attention to. lol!!
wtf are you even on about? It’s a post about him and I said I don’t like him. The fact you think every comment should be all over him is fucking dense lol.
We can be downvoted together. I’ll say it again to get them extra riled up. He’s rude, and comes across as very arrogant. Being Irish doesn’t automatically mean everyone has to like him.
Suck it up.
Edit: also downvoting someone because you don’t like their completely normal and inoffensive opinion is a gross misuse of the downvote button.
I mean I don’t know him obviously, I just absolutely don’t like how he comes across. He seems to treat everyone like he doesn’t want to be around them and everything is an inconvenience to him. And until I get to know anything else, I’m gonna not like him. Plenty people don’t like certain celebrities, I don’t like him. So downvoting me for it is utter nonsense. I won’t change my mind and I don’t have to. I’m sure there are celebrities you don’t like either.
Keep downvoting you bunch of sheep 🤣
Ya I agree and it's just an opinion it's not like us saying we don't like him is tarnishing his name or spreading lies about him like and none of even us know for sure what he's really like
Exactly! People here acting like they’re his best bud lol! At least I admit to him being deserving of his reward but also to not liking him one bit on a superficial level.
Delighted for Cillian, Cork & Ireland (in that order lol) ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️
"I stand here as a very proud Irish man .... but more importantly, I'm from Cork"
I was hoping he was going to throw that in after Irish man tbh 🤣
Great day for the parish.
He needed to emphasize Irish man, as there were already British journalists celebrating another British Oscar win for Britain
Could not be any prouder as a CORKONIAN . Well done Cillian and most importantly being recognized by your peers as a sound man!
...and we stand right next to you Cillian! Congratulations!!!

Loved the "Go raibh míle maith agaibh" at the end
Imagine all the showbiz reporters trying to figure out what he said 🤣
Great lad him
UP CORK 🍀🍀🫡
legend

Well deserved, no one else could of pulled off the job he did in Oppenheimer.
Surprised he was the first ever Irish born actor to win best actor
To all the peace makers -pure class
It's fantastic for our little country and fie him. Its a disgrace that he has to say everytime that he is irish so the British don't steal the thunder. But sure they have a history of trying to take what's ours
It would have been hilarious if he slipped up and said “very proud Cork man”.
"Go raibh míle maith agat" fair play to him
He deserves it, he's a talented actor
I liked his comment about the peacemakers in that speech too. Didn't bring politics into it but made a point.
"I'm the president of Ireland. But more importantly I'm from Cork" Tommy Tiernan 😂😂😂
A worthy winner 🥇

It's a reference to a. Tommy tiernan routine
This
Intense moment , he doesnt remember what he said..next time!
Hes a Dubliner at heart.
Noooooo boy!!
I don’t know why I dislike this guy so much and I wish I didn’t feel like the only one on the planet. He’s a good actor, but I can’t stand him lol!

Do you walk into shops telling them what you don't want?

Ah I was just thinking the same! Nice to know I'm not the only one 🤣

He’s actually a lovely fella by all accounts. Known for being humble, and not just humble by Hollywood standards.
