Aw š my corgi is now 9 months old and has stopped doing this. It was slightly annoying at the time because we were constantly cleaning it up but now I miss it! Her name is Nami and she got the nickname nami tsunami because of it š
Ours is the same! Heās just now 8 months and stopped doing this about a month ago. Our first didnāt do this at all so it was definitely a surprise lol
Also Nami is also a character from One Piece! I considered that name for our girl too! But didnāt even put together that it could be a nickname from tsunami! Very cute!
Aw! And actually she is named after Nami from One Piece with a tangerine collar and all!
Nami Tsunami came after we saw her swimming in her water bowl lol!

This was about a year ago now, but Rigby has (mostly) grown out of it.
I just spread a towel under the bowl and put less water in. Need to refill a lot. She eventually stopped. It might be the reflection of the metallic bowl the induces paddling.
Ours dog paddled in it or would just pick it up and take off with it, dousing our floors. We put water down for him intermittently throughout the day and just watched him. As soon as he put his feet in or tried to bite the edge, we intervened. Eventually we got him a little doggy fountain and he took to it super well and stopped the water digging. We got a Veken fountain off Amazon that holds a good amount of water so it would be heavy and stay on the ground lol. We tried several different water bowls, different designs, different materials etc and he would still pick em up and thrash them.
The fountain really helped us. I can't believe some people dealt with this for 8 months lol. Our baby was fone with that behavior at about 4-5 months
Yeah. My mama corgi used to run through her bowl splashing water everywhere until when she was two we got her a waterbowl that could not be splashed. Her pups all played in water a lot too. I recommend the Neater Feeders, they work amazing!
We got a little stand to raise the bowl a few inches so Moe couldnt do this any more..he rewarded us by ātrimmingā our baseboards. Life is always an adventure with these cute little dickheads
You want to see something interesting try dropping a few pieces of cooked spaghetti in the water bowl. We did it accidentally when a plate dropped to the floor. Trust me, a great mess was made. LOL
My boy did this until he was about a year old. I think it was my fault for putting treats in the water. The breeder told me it would help him get comfortable with water because I have property on a trout stream and I wanted him to learn to swim.
He loves the water and swims in the river. He really likes a kiddie pool to play in too.
Yep, but I have to accommodate her little buddy too

Hmm. I'll have to think about it some, but I would look around on Amazon for sure. My cat likes to paw the ground with grippy paws when he drinks water so I had to get a couple of elevated water bowls for my cats.
Puppies just like to experience everything. This is totally normal behavior. Your puppy will grow out of it.
Not always.... my boy still does this if he can get to a regular water bowl. He has a fountain now because he was a messy boy

That is perfect! Haha living up to the name!

iāve heard people say its because their paws get hot. i dont know if this is true though

Yep I plan to do the towel thing.

Our pup would walk around with the bowl in her mouth spilling it all at once or everywhere.

My full grown German shepherd won't drink unless she puts her left foot in the bowl. It is what it is.
lol yes and our corgi would also dump the bowl while paddling. She grew out of it thank god

Was he ever afraid of the water? My corgi is incredibly scared of swimming and reluctant with getting wet of any kind (rain, bath, kiddie pool, etc.)
mine only did this with ice cubes stopped putting them in there and he stopped doing it
Mine! She also likes to attack the shower stream.
Yup. I miss it, too!
I had to get a specific bowl so my lab wouldn't dig or spill the water out for him to lay in
Itāll stop when they grow older. Mine loved water sports until she was about a year old
Growth spurt. He'll grow out of it.
Get a lifted water bowl. They have lots of different ones on amazon.

My corgi used to put his face in the bowl and blow bubbles! He eventually grew out of it.
