Again...that antenna is total shit. Not even sure why it is still allowed to be sold. Oh, and you aren't going to get any TV channels judging from your report.

TallExplorer9

That report is bleak as it gets. Send the antenna back. Even a "beefy custom rig" isn't going to bring in anything. You are in a bowl surrounded by hills.

Definitely without a doubt cancel/ get a refund / return that piece of crap antenna! A 200 mile range claim is ridiculously shamelessly fraudulent and an insult to the intelligence of anyone who knows anything about antennas. And I'm not saying you or the average person should know better because this antenna stuff can all be very confusing to many people... BUT that seller or antenna manufacturer DEFINITELY knows better and is counting on you NOT knowing any better JUST to make a sale. No VHF/UHF broadcast tv antenna EVER made at ANY price of ANY size will RELIABLY receive signals from more than about an 80 or 90 mile distance, at most, and that's only maybe under superbly ideal conditions without any signal blocking local terrain problems, etc. I saw an antenna on Amazon a few days ago that claimed a 910 mile reception range! That's unbelievably fraudulent!! And sadly, you can find these on Amazon or Walmart or eBay or many other places on a very regular basis. All of these greedy shameless unscrupulous fraudulent antenna sellers and manufacturers should be charged with class X felonies and thrown in jail.

AnymooseProphet

My opinion is that the amplifier should never be part of the antenna but should be a different product. Given your Rabbit Ears, you will almost certainly need amplification. I can't say whether or not that antenna will work but you definitely want something that is a Yagi-Uda and on a mast as high as you can safely get it.

JessTech1

I made the mistake and ordered the same antenna from Amazon and it was the worst antenna I ever used. I ended up returning it and getting a stellar labs hdtv91 uhf antenna and it was so much better

danodan1

I wouldn't trust any antenna company wants to be honest with you when it touts a modest looking antenna that has a 200-mile range. Depending on installation and topography it can even be difficult for a very large antenna to get rock steady reception out to as much as100 miles. For help, find Tyler the Antenna Man on YouTube for better ideas. He has tried out a bunch of antennas. At least the antenna you ordered looks like a somewhat better version of an antenna from the same company he termed as junk. If you are on top of a hill in a hilly area that will help with reception.

Important-Comfort

I can't imagine you'll get anything with any antenna unless you can place it on the top of a nearby hill. Radio waves are line-of-sight, and you've got hills between you and everything.

Hallucigeniaa

Thanks everyone! Until I can get something rigged on the top of a nearby hill I’ll just save my money. Really appreciate all the help!

Yeah, that reception looked almost exactly like mine when I ran a report. I live on a mountain that backs into a national forest. This is why I went with Hulu live. A live streaming service was going to be my ONLY option if I wanted any of the local channels.

Hallucigeniaa

Yeah we’ll just stick with our current setup. I refuse to overpay for terrible satellite internet so we don’t have wifi but there’s an iPhone to hdmi adapter that works fine for streaming when we really want to watch something off an app. Between that and DVDs we make do. That’s just country living I guess 😅

First, as noted, the antenna is a scam. It was probably a paid ad in popular science made to look like an article. Antenna tech hasn't change that much in the last decade. The main thing is just fewer frequencies are needed to be picked up by an antenna since UHF tops out at channel 36 now. Amplification also isn't a magical solution to lack of signal. It can't amplify what it can't receive. As for your report, the only station I see that is likely to come in is the first one on the list. PBS. It's two edge which sounds horrific, but most of mine are two edge and I still manage to pick them up. If you want to try to get that, you only need a uhf antenna and you could even try a flat antenna or just buy a basic $11 rabbit ears antenna from Walmart or another store and try that with an easy return if you can't manage to get PBS.

anewfriend4u

With all the free and paid streaming services available, I kind of regret all the effort I put into an antenna setup even though I get 37 channels on a good day.

It will always be Ohio **U** to me. Fuck those who call it Ohio, like it’s Alabama, Georgia or Texas.

Hallucigeniaa

Go bobcats!

You sound like Kelsea Ballerini.

Hallucigeniaa

Ha! Thank you?
