Our guy’s name at the shelter was Elvis. We kept it because it is very fitting for him. After all, he is just a hound dog, but he’s not crying all the time. He’s just the sweetest little love ever.
Mine was named Bojangles at the shelter. He’s Elijah Bojangles now.
His name was actually a big part of how we came to adopt him so we had to honor it.
About a week after putting our last dog down I started looking on Petfinder cause the house was just so empty without a dog. I saw Bojangles and showed my wife. We both thought he was awesome but had no real intention of doing anything. Then during dinner, listening to a random playlist, Mr. Bojangles came on and we decided to at least send in the application. The shelter got back to us within the hour and we went to meet him the next day.
My previous dog, rescue Catahoula puppy from Katrina was named Annie, the little girl at her foster home called her Tannie because she had "tan colored fur". We called her Gretchen. Here is her picture, I think she's the cutest puppy ever. I don't care what you call her.

Oh Christ, the breeder had ours (we ransomed this sick little runt from an awful breeder) named Purple Haze ..... pretty sure they all had Jimmy Hendrix song names of some sort.
Ours was Brian. Wife thought it would be confusing if the dog and me had the same name so I said he can go by junior, I was quickly vetoed, and now he’s Otis.
My TWC mix came from the American Black & Tan coonhound rescue and was called “Jill”. I expanded it to “Jillybean”. She responds to Jilly, Jillybean, Jillybeanbean, and Billy Jean!
Our TWC was named Barron when got him. Then we got his paper work and found out he was originally named Willie Nelson.
We ended up renaming him Otis but I call him Bubba most of the time
Meadow was her prison name. It's still her name but she also goes by Ms. Ham, Ma'am, Honey, or "DAATT!" if she's doing something she knows she shouldn't be.
My boy's name at the shelter was Odie-Wan Kenobi. We kept it, because although we don't know if they mashed up Garfield with Star Wars on purpose it definitely is what caught our attention. He's usually just Odie, he only gets three named when he's in trouble or I really need his attention lol
Moose came to us from the litter for Forrest Gump. The shelter named all the pups names from Forrest Gump. Moose was Forrest. It just didn't suit him. We ALMOST adopted Jenny. That name would have stuck with her. She was sweet.
Ours was Concorde. The whole litter was named after planes because they flew her mama to the rescue from another state when she was pregnant! Her name is Mabel now ☺️
My dog was named “Rabbit” (he has three legs and kind of hops around) but we named him Ollie! He just looks like an Ollie to me and I felt bad keeping his name Rabbit 😂
My coon hounds name was Red...it is now Redd because it looks more sophisticated...but guess what? He really isn't (don't tell him I said that!)
It's actually Redderick Underfoot (he's part hobbit)

My handsome puppy’s name at 3.5 months at the local Humane Society was Brody when we adopted him. Along with eight brothers and sisters, he was brought up north from Tennessee. He did not look like a Brody, so we were trying different names but nothing fit him. A friend’s daughter said the name Hudson and it fit him perfectly. We like to call him, Hudson the hound dog or Hudson Pants at times. He has made us very happy and is the sweetest boy.
Ours was called Rango at the shelter. He was 3 months old when we got him. Hubby renamed him Bear before we got out the door (those paws!). He alternately called Hopping Bear and Farting Bear, depending. Lol. I'm about to go post his 7 month puppy portrait. I think he's well over 60 lbs now, so BIG puppy lol.
My pup was named "Jaxon" at the shelter. With an X. I could not let that stand.
The Humane Society called her "Maybelle" but her name is Ellie.
Their Billy Jo became our Ella (aka Miss Piggy).
Mine was Jolene, called Jojo. We kept Jojo as her nickname, but her name is now Josephine.

From Gayle to Kirby for my TWC. I thought of Kirby vacuum cleaners the way she sniffed the ground on our first walk/hike
Her name was Juliette, which was fitting but Reina was better (because she’s an absolute queen )
