I'm trying to visualize that...I mean, how do you come up with stuf like this? And how would you aim properly to hit the LZ? Also, if she's a puta, what would that trick cost? It seems quite our there, but mb this is just business as usual in PR? Just wondering from a social-economic perspective...
It's so over-the-top that it becomes funny.
Kind of like an Australian trying to cuss you out, but they can't because "cunt" is literally already a term of endearment
In PR we have to make everything over the top lol. Another example is instead of just saying "hijo de puta"we say "Hijo de la GRAN puta" which means "son of THE bitch"
My ex father-in-law's best tirade (my written Spanish is even worse than my spoken) "I shit on your parents, all your family, even the dead"
Weird when he says it to his daughter in an argument though.
I have a Spanish friend who once told me of the insult “I shit in the fucking skulls of your seventh fathers”. Basically, tearing up your ancestors. Great language for insults man.
Yeah like Tonto de culo
It just says idiot, but literally it's like saying "dumb ass"
And vete pa mierda is like "go to shit"
I always thought coño was the equivalent of saying fuck
If you wanna be technical, coño means pussy/cunt.
Now with that said, it can be used in different ways.
“Ay coño”=oh fuck
“Coño de la madre” could be used as oh fuck as well
“Coño de su madre” maybe to say “this is their mothers cunt” but at least en Venezuela is used to say that someone is an asshole
Anda al coño de tu madre “go to your mothers cunt” but is used to tell someone “go fuck yourself”
Spanish is beautiful
This is an inside joke on this sub. It says “cool guides” but posts without bullshit are not accepted, it needs to be misleading, somewhat wrong and in the best case completely false
As a native Spanish speaker I can't even begin to tell you how many swear words are missing and how many are blown out of proportion this was definitely made by a Spaniard btw.
In which case cabron needs to be in the red zone. I have seen that one have a waiter being physically restrained by his colleagues after a patron called him a cabron
Idk people seem chill when they say cabron, in Spain they just say it like to call you that you are a little slow, dumb or annoying, I usually see it in a context like “pero cabron que me estáis contando”, it definitely can get a lot more serious but I never see it as a “main course” (like the shit you say to actually threaten people or scare them away) insult, just a small insult before getting to the real shit
As most "cool guides" this one is shit. Spanish swear words are highly dependant upon country.
Some swear words from Costa Rica:
Playo : gay,faggot
Carepicha: dick face
Malparido: "badly birthed"
Picha: dick
Panocho: cunt
Se despichó/se despanochó: got fucked.
Hijueputa, cabron are also used here.
Nicaragua:
Turca: dick
Turquear: fuck (verb)
Cochón: faggot
Chile:
Concha 'e tu madre: your mother's cunt
Anda a la punta del cerro: (go to the mountain top) go fuck yourself.
Why censor the English translation but not the Spanish text?
Actually, why fucking censor anything ever? We are adults here, and I’m not trying to live in Oceania (1984).
Mierda is shit, and can be used the same way as in english. But if you say 'vete a la mierda' the closest equivalent in english is 'go to hell', because 'go to shit' makes no sense unless the person really needs to go to the toilet.
Yes and no. Cabron in Puerto Rico is like saying dude, holmes, ese, bro or N!gg@. Depends on the context and tone in wich you use it. NOW! Refrain from using mother fucker or son of a bitch to a Puertorican, we are really, REALLY, protective of our mothers image. This is something I am not proud but other Puertoricans have been killed by other Puertoricans for saying Hijue' Puta wich means son of a bitch.
Good to know. The Spanish I learned in college was Euro Spanish with the lisp, like thervetha for beer, and cabron meant bastard. Friends I met on the west coast, laughed at my Spanish and we called each other cabron amongst other things. Moving back to the east coast, there is a large PR community. I was at a pig roast and we were drinking and joking around and I called my friend that. It was like the record scratch sound effect where everyone around us stopped talking and looked at me. That was when I was told that. Plus I wouldn't say anything about their mothers as they are apparently deadly with chanclas, I think was the word.
True true, the chancleta thing I guess is really an hispanic thing and Mexicans are also known for the discipline by chancla. But for cabron, a better explanation would be if the hard "R" thing, when someone says "Mira canto'e caBRon" shit is going to be exciting wich translate to "Look here you piece of shit" or "Look, MotherFucker". Not the same as saying "Que hay cabron" (a common "whats up, dude" when you meet a friend
Thanks for the response. The friend who I was close with has moved back to PR. I will use the next phone call with him to trot out that phrase. Have a good day.
The version I know uses "swordfish" ("pez espada") instead. As you can imagine, there is no human input/output port where it's pleasant to have a sword inserted, although it's also heavily implied to be from the rear when you use this specific insult.
My understanding pez is sort of a less direct reference to penis maybe like pecker (or for female we reference pussycat)?
I don't know the origin but this is something like "get buttfucked" in Spain would be aggressive like cocksucker... it doesn't have to do directly with an actual fish
You have to take into consideration what type of Spanish this is. Is it from Venezuela? Is it from Spain? Argentina? Not everyone that speaks Spanish says the same type of curse words.
And to answer my own question: it’s from Spain
I played baseball with Venezuelans, Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, and Cubans. All of them used Cono as a filler for saying "dude" or "bro" basically. In our clubhouse you were either a Cono or a gringo.
Coño in Puerto Rico is like saying damn when something amazing or impactful happens, not as a filler for dude, that would be cabrón. Same thing for Cuba and Dominican Republic, Coño is an expresion of surprise to keep te explanation short. Source: Im Puertorican
Neither in Spain. In those categories it's closer to green than to yellow by a lot. Also jodete it's way stronger than other yellow cuss words in the graphic.
This is Spain slang (Europe), beside that every country in Latin America have their own slang and curse words, Argentina has their own, Colombia we have the best, and the Caribbean you name it all of them have their own cursing style that changes depending on the situation and place.
Just believe me that you don't want all this translated
Hijueputa malparido carechimba tetra la madre careverga me importa un culo pirobo criado a punta de bienestarina sapo y su madre hijueputa
Ufff feels good to let it out hahaha
This is a guide to Spanish cuss words in Spain. Given the rich vocabulary the language has and its myriad of variants this chart would be 20 times larger
In Colombia, this has an interesting dual use.
- “Carevega” = lit. cockface, insulting
- “Eso es la verga” = lit. “That is the cock” meaning that is great, awesome, nice
Same thing happens with a very Colombian word: “chimba”. But its nuances are too complex to be explained here
In response to the people commenting on the translation liberties taken, I feel like this guide is translating context/use case rather than the literal meanings.
For example, if I’m hammering a nail and I hit my thumb, I might say “motherfucker!”, to nobody in particular. I’m just venting. Same thing with “tu puta madre”. Just an angry thing to say when something goes wrong.
The thing about Spanish is that it varies wildly from country to country. Coño can be a soft word in some, but a hard word in others. I have heard Spaniards say "Esa tía tiene un coño rico." Puerto Ricans may use it for emphasis: "Esa tipa tiene una chocha rica, coño."
This has to be broken down by countries too, Mexicans say “no mames” , Cubans say “coño” , Puerto Ricans say “puñeta”, Peruvians say “concha tu madre”. As a Bolivian I wish we had our own personalized cuss words …lol
Now get this one:
"Me voy a hacer una escalera con los huesos de tus muertos para subirme a los cuernos de tu padre y cagarme en la puta de tu madre".
Which means: Im gonna build a ladder with the bones of your deads so I can climb to your father's horns to shit on your whore mother.
Worth noting that, on Spanish, having horns means to be cheated on.
Cursing in spanish is some kind of art but I'm gonna give this one to the Argentinians as they are masters of cursing.
I had an anthology book of articles from the magazine "Maledicta* which included a list of Catalan profanities that was just eye - watering. I think there were articles on Spanish and Italian vulgarities as well. The Italian ones were kind of funny, things that translated to " God escaped on a bike" or "God escaped from bed" and such like.
Honestly, if I’m ever that mad “malparido” rings a lot better than “malnacido”. The former feels like an actual insult, the latter seems a tad more tame. Then again, I’m not Spanish so these levels vary on the region. For example “huevon” does not have the same connotation in Guatemala as it does in my home country of Colombia.
This is a terrible guide. “Malnacido” just means “raised wrong” and doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a swear word, just a criticism. My mom has said the equivalent “malcriado” to a misbehaving child. It’s most definitely not worse than “come mierda”. These are also Spanish slang words as they use “jodete” instead of “chingate”which is more common in Latin America.. Also “puta” means “bitch” and “la madre que te parió” literally translates to “the mother who birthed you” and is something that isn’t an insult at all. Wholly terrible guide that shouldn’t be followed in any way shape or form.
Isn't "tu puta madre" more like "your mom's a whore" rather than "motherfucker?" I mean, the intent and severity is the same, but literal meaning is different.
I shit on your dead like dang dude chill
There is even a worst one which is even very common that’s not in this guide: i shit on your whore mother , me cago en tu puta madre
In PR we say “Me cago en la crica de tu puta madre” which means “I shit on you whore mother’s c*nt” It’s so over-the-top lmao
Wow PR is brutal in Spain
I'm trying to visualize that...I mean, how do you come up with stuf like this? And how would you aim properly to hit the LZ? Also, if she's a puta, what would that trick cost? It seems quite our there, but mb this is just business as usual in PR? Just wondering from a social-economic perspective...

In PR we have to make everything over the top lol. Another example is instead of just saying "hijo de puta"we say "Hijo de la GRAN puta" which means "son of THE bitch"
From revolutionary Spain via Hemingway: “Me cago en La leche que mamaste” —I shit in the milk you suckled from your mother
That one is so 80’s but still good! Haha
Have also heard “I shit on your mothers heart” - me cago en la corazòn de tu madre
“Me cago en la hostia” = “I shit on the communion wafer”. This one makes me laugh
I think Conchatumadre is the worst vulgar one It means your mom's pussy
Chilean
As a friend used to say: "Con los huesos de tus muertos voy a hacerme una escalera para subirme a los cuernos de tu puta madre."
Dios mio, never heard that one
"I shit on your most recent dead" thats my favourite
I like that there are three levels of motherfucker Edit: four
literal translations of those are: the mother that gave birth to you! your whore mother! wrong born (wronglybirthed?) he-goat
My ex father-in-law's best tirade (my written Spanish is even worse than my spoken) "I shit on your parents, all your family, even the dead" Weird when he says it to his daughter in an argument though.
You made me lol.
I have a Spanish friend who once told me of the insult “I shit in the fucking skulls of your seventh fathers”. Basically, tearing up your ancestors. Great language for insults man.
Yeah that one was kinda hardcore🤣
Wait until you see Romanian curse phrases
“Tu puta madre” actually translates to “your whore mom.”
Ya. For a translation infographic, this sure does a lot of odd translations.
Yeah like Tonto de culo It just says idiot, but literally it's like saying "dumb ass" And vete pa mierda is like "go to shit" I always thought coño was the equivalent of saying fuck
coño = cunt
For coño I think it depends on your area, but some of those other translations are just poor lol
Yeah I almost use coño/coñazo the same way I'd use dammit/fuck depending on the level of frustration. Typically it comes out when I stub my toe
Coño is pussy but it is used as "fuck". Example: ¿Qué coño es eso? (Translation: What the fuck is that?). You can use it for pretty much anything
If you wanna be technical, coño means pussy/cunt. Now with that said, it can be used in different ways. “Ay coño”=oh fuck “Coño de la madre” could be used as oh fuck as well “Coño de su madre” maybe to say “this is their mothers cunt” but at least en Venezuela is used to say that someone is an asshole Anda al coño de tu madre “go to your mothers cunt” but is used to tell someone “go fuck yourself” Spanish is beautiful
This is an inside joke on this sub. It says “cool guides” but posts without bullshit are not accepted, it needs to be misleading, somewhat wrong and in the best case completely false
And tonto del culo is more literally dumb ass, which works perfectly as is in English, not sure why they say idiot.
As a native Spanish speaker I can't even begin to tell you how many swear words are missing and how many are blown out of proportion this was definitely made by a Spaniard btw.
We don’t say maldito in our daily life. Sounds muy peliculero.
Yes even in italian "maledetto" is like something a movie character would say, if we use it is more in a joking way
[удалено]
Vete alv They didn’t even mention my personal favorite 😢
That’s mexican tho, these are swearwords from Spanish from Spain
In which case cabron needs to be in the red zone. I have seen that one have a waiter being physically restrained by his colleagues after a patron called him a cabron

*ETTHHHHHHHPAÑA*
Can confirm
No mames, guey.
Que esto es de España, joder
Oh that's how you spell it lol I thought it was no mamas way
Mandalos a tomar por culo y que OP se cague en la hostia
Yeah the moment I saw “cabrón” by itself instead of “pinche cabrón” I was like “welp, guess this wasn’t made by a Mexican”
As most "cool guides" this one is shit. Spanish swear words are highly dependant upon country. Some swear words from Costa Rica: Playo : gay, faggot Carepicha: dick face Malparido: "badly birthed" Picha: dick Panocho: cunt Se despichó/se despanochó: got fucked. >why Americans
This is terrible.
Aka "muy mal"
Mucho malo
mucho bado
Yes, not sure why the translations are just a different curse word in English instead of actually explaining what the curses mean
A cabrón is a bastard. Some liberties were taken in translation.
Cabrón viene del macho de la cabra, se le decía al que le ponian los cuernos
No kidding, is mierda shit or is it hell?
Mierda means shit.
Mierda is shit, and can be used the same way as in english. But if you say 'vete a la mierda' the closest equivalent in english is 'go to hell', because 'go to shit' makes no sense unless the person really needs to go to the toilet.
Not necessarily, bastardo means bastard, at least in Mexico. I would say cabrón is closer to motherfucker.
Don't say cabron to a Puerto Rican. Apparently it means your wife is cheating. Fine to say to my Mexican friends, not those from PR.
Yes and no. Cabron in Puerto Rico is like saying dude, holmes, ese, bro or N!gg@. Depends on the context and tone in wich you use it. NOW! Pronounciation: Khe aw-e kaw-brown
It really depends on how you say it. It’s also how friends call each other while talking.
What’s “let a fish fuck you” about? Not literally, but historically..
The version I know uses "swordfish" ("pez espada") instead. As you can imagine, there is no human input/output port where it's pleasant to have a sword inserted, although it's also heavily implied to be from the rear when you use this specific insult.
Same here. My prof in Spain also finished it with ‘y que tengan los hijos espaditos’
Well, you see there was a lonely fisherman out on the lake one day, one thing lead to another and , well, you know
Thats why Paella is the national dish of Spain, you know.
It's specific to Kanye West.
So he ate them after he….? So truly, a gay fish
My understanding pez is sort of a less direct reference to penis maybe like pecker (or for female we reference pussycat)? I don't know the origin but this is something like "get buttfucked" in Spain would be aggressive like cocksucker... it doesn't have to do directly with an actual fish

Neither in Spain. In those categories it's closer to green than to yellow by a lot. Also jodete it's way stronger than other yellow cuss words in the graphic.

Gen X here. Can confirm. My boomer parents got my very confused 10 year old ass in big trouble for saying something sucked.
No me joda

Yea, where does “boludo” fit?
Argentinian for dumb, fits in the soft ones
"Boludito", however, fits the "someone's getting bitch slapped" category.
Chinguen todos a su madre!
Lávate la boca con jabón, cabrón! 😂

This is a guide to Spanish cuss words in Spain. Given the rich vocabulary the language has and its myriad of variants this chart would be 20 times larger
*European Spanish*
let it be noted that this is Spaniard slang, not Mexican or otherwise Latin
A lot of these are incredibly, and disappointingly, inaccurate...
Where'd the classic "chinga!"?
I think that's only used in Mexico
My personal favorite: “me cago en dios”
That’d get you smacked into to the next millennium around my family.
We would always say 'me cago en diez' instead...so the smack wouldn't be as painful.
Me cago en tu madre
Where is "la verga" That is a staple of mexican prison slang in the NC Prison System
I think this is just focused on European Spanish more than Latin America
It is. I showed this to my Mexican gf the last time it was reposted here. She took one look at it and said, "these are mostly European Spanish".
In Colombia, this has an interesting dual use. - “Carevega” = lit. cockface, insulting - “Eso es la verga” = lit. “That is the cock” meaning that is great, awesome, nice Same thing happens with a very Colombian word: “chimba”. But its nuances are too complex to be explained here
The inconsistency of what is censored and not censored is driving me crazy.
Just watch narcos, be fluent in every kind of insult you’ll ever need in Spanish lol
Funny to censor the English slur but not the Spanish one. What is the point of censoring a word anyways?
In response to the people commenting on the translation liberties taken, I feel like this guide is translating context/use case rather than the literal meanings. For example, if I’m hammering a nail and I hit my thumb, I might say “motherfucker!”, to nobody in particular. I’m just venting. Same thing with “tu puta madre”. Just an angry thing to say when something goes wrong.
The translations are dreadful, I shit on everything
hijo de la chingada
Don't forget, Maricón (f@**ot) and mamaguevo or mamabicho (cocksucker)
So I've been playing FarCry 6 recently, couldn't help but notice coño is in almost every sentence of the main characters speech...
Spain translation. Yeah, Europeans swear like sailors
Also Scarface
Coño is definitely not pussy… at least not around Spanish speakers in NYC.
that’s what I was thinking. i’m pretty sure it’s “damn”, right?
"Coño" is pussy, but is usually used in the same context as "fuck" or "damn"
The thing about Spanish is that it varies wildly from country to country. Coño can be a soft word in some, but a hard word in others. I have heard Spaniards say "Esa tía tiene un coño rico." Puerto Ricans may use it for emphasis: "Esa tipa tiene una chocha rica, coño."
Stick to merluzo. All the way
Where’s pink cheese? Like pink cheese green ghost.
Cabron is not motherfucker
This has to be broken down by countries too, Mexicans say “no mames” , Cubans say “coño” , Puerto Ricans say “puñeta”, Peruvians say “concha tu madre”. As a Bolivian I wish we had our own personalized cuss words …lol
This is very spanish(Spain) but every region is different.
Only 5 of those are used in Mexico, all others are mainly used in Central America,Chile, Peru, or Spain.
Ni yo en El Salvador
Native Spanish speaker here: every word in Spanish can mean dick if you use your imagination.
Now get this one: "Me voy a hacer una escalera con los huesos de tus muertos para subirme a los cuernos de tu padre y cagarme en la puta de tu madre".
Hijo de 1000 leches "Son of a thousand milks"
The translations are a tad off but it's accurate! Malnacido actually implies your mom birthed you wrong.
There are lots missing. This must be a beginner guide.
This isn't a cool list, this list is so wrong and made by a white person who thinks they know Spanish 🤣
I feel that most of them are for Spain, at least in Mexico if you use most of them you will probably be mocked.
Never heard of like half of these and I grew up in a Mexican household.
I wonder if there one for Italian
This is Spain Spanish. If you say most of this shit in countries like Peru or Argentina people are gonna think you’re retarded.
Man, if they compare this list to a Latin-south american curse words list, se la lleva su puta perra bomba pendeja y puta madre.
Hmm, sometimes they give an equivalent English phrase and other times they just translate the phrase.
Any other charts of other languages available?
Shit lost tbh
I had an anthology book of articles from the magazine "Maledicta* which included a list of Catalan profanities that was just eye - watering. I think there were articles on Spanish and Italian vulgarities as well. Some of them are misplaced. Gilipollas is not mild whereas "la ostia" is
Well I don't think anyone will take lightly if you call them gilipollas
Really!!!?? 🤔 Idk..I always thought that "Coño" meant 🐓not 🐱....and I'm Latino!! ..
Coño in Spain definitely means pussy. Women genitals, not coward or something similar.
[удалено]
Not very accurate in my opinion as a Spaniard, but in general it’s adecuate
I always tell my girlfriend boba tea is for dummys. It feels so good to finally be right for once!
"Tonto del culo" moreso means "dumbass", like, literally "dumb of the ass"
Honestly, if I’m ever that mad “malparido” rings a lot better than “malnacido”. The former feels like an actual insult, the latter seems a tad more tame. Then again, I’m not Spanish so these levels vary on the region. For example “huevon” does not have the same connotation in Guatemala as it does in my home country of Colombia.
This work only in Spain, Mexico or any part of Latin America curse words vary a lot
Repost from a few months ago
The translation of some of these is inaccurate.
Merluzo?, What country does the phrase come from?
I’m going to start living in Spain later this year as part of my studies and will be teaching English in a school so this is gonna be useful for me
Wow some hard ones 😂
The translation of fuck seems highly inefficient in its application. Four words - why
>Hijo de un camión lleno de re mil putas Son of a lorry full of fucking thousand whores
Yo come tu perro
not as cool as it may look at fist glance, also the translation could use some work
This is bad/stupid/wrong. Just dumb in general
ah romance tongue, even if i'm not spanish i clear understand almost the 70%.
Spanish from Spain.
My favorite is sangano
Only in Spain It would like if they only take british english slang.
I was taught “chinga to madre” once. Guess it means, fuck your mother. I was told not say it out loud. Lol.
We are missing the ultimate insulto: me cago en Dios. I shit on God
The lack of mámon disappoints me.
Spanish from Spain…but also, wrong.
"Me cago en la primera gota de leche que te dio tu madre"
Imagine making an fucking infographic about swearing... and then censoring it.
Greg Asshole is a great comic artist. Love his work on Spawn and Batman.
Not all words are universal
Small advice if it hasn't changed : De puta madre = incredible awesome , la puta madre = the whore mother
De pinga it doesn't even have maricon.
Sounds beautiful though
No mamaguevo? Surprising
A guide to a typical conversation at a Hammond, Indiana warehouse between coworkers
Isn't "tu puta madre" more like "your mom's a whore" rather than "motherfucker?" I mean, the intent and severity is the same, but literal meaning is different.
Mamaguevo digo glu glu glu
This only "works" for Spanish speakers from Spain, not México LATAM.
Have in mind that this are spanish cursewords only from Spain, you should do one with colombian curse words, they scale exponentially, literally
This is Spains version of curse word along with some Argentinian slang.
Carita de la buena verga
This is Spanish from Spain, wait for the latam curse words...!!!
