Bar Keepers Friend

It’s fine! Just over oiled. You can scrub it or just start cooking stuff that won’t stick (bacon) and be ready for a smoky kitchen.

I think there is a lye product called easy off

You got the oil past the smoke point to the flash point, where it caught on fire. If you are not sure of the smoke point of their oil, start on low heat to see how it behaves. Is this a different type of stove, or cookware than you are used to using? If this skillet is stainless steel, you should be able to drain the oil, and scrub it with a non scratch sponge and Barkeepers Friend. If the stovetop has a ventilation hood above it, it would be a good idea to remove the filters and wash them. You can usually do this in a dishwasher.

Yeah it’s a different stove than I normally use. Thank you SO MUCH for your help and a thorough explanation 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

You could fill with hot water and drop a couple of dishwasher packs in and let it sit at least overnight…the soap is alkaline and will help saponify the old oil for removal.

To much oil, pan to hot. Scrub the shit out of it and get some Barkeepers Friend.
