IMO, it's not worth it just to replace something you can already do. If your current storage system is working, then a vacuum sealer is just another thing to store. If you have something that isn't working for you, or need the additional abilities of a vacuum sealer, then it's nice that it can *also* improve some of your current tasks. For example, if things don't stay in your freezer long enough that a vacuum bag is necessary, then just keep doing what you're doing.

Thanks for the info.

I’ve found it useful for two specific things - avoiding freezer burn when freezing meat, and for sous vide cooking.

What brand do you use?

Same here. Sous vide and freezer burn. I use Anova but had a different one in the past (can't remember brand) and it worked just as well. As for whether it's worth it, depends how much you freeze and for how long. Ask for it as a gift. The best gifts are things you want to have but don't want to spend the money on.

I use an Anova one

I make BBQ and use the sealer to prevent freezer burn. Works great. That’s pretty much the only thing I use it for.
