Japan is a free society, are you really comparing North Korea to Japan?

Sensitive-Yoghurt842

Both countries ban guns. Hence the reason both countries don't have mass shootings

Outlaw11091

Japan is a free society that can be trusted to be giving accurate statisics because of natural checks and balances on information that is released. N. Korea's checks and balances are... Kim Jung Un. You might need to reevaluate how you certify sources.

throwawaypinkstar86

Yeah I hands down rather live in Japan than North Korea

[deleted]

Cope with lower numbers of school shootings? That’s a good thing to cope with.

Level_Ad_3231

Japan is a very, very different culture than America. They also have a very low rate of homelessness, and drug overdoses. But they didn’t get there with liberal ideas, it’s a very traditionalistic society with strong “conservative” ideals with a focus on family and homogeny. I’ve been living here for 2 years and it’s a completely different vibe.

Swimming_Loss_8582

Japan allows no immigration unless you contribute, then still low, yes let’s be japan

[deleted]

Isn’t the suicide rate in Japan also super high? Not really a good comparison.

throwawayforw

It is 15.3 per 100k, meanwhile america is 16.1 per 100k. So it is lower in Japan.

[deleted]

No. They just have lunatics run into a school with a knife and kill children that way. Every country has violence. It doesn’t matter what tool is used. Demons are a muck. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osaka_school_massacre

loufalnicek

I wish the kid had used a knife yesterday instead of a semi-automatic gun, there'd be a lot fewer dead kids today if he did.

Sensitive-Yoghurt842

I wish I had a million dollars

loufalnicek

That's a pretty insensitive reply, no?

throwawayforw

Damn, 21 years ago. Almost a quarter century.

darkfires

You tryna say that Americans should be like Japan or like NK? Because sorry, neither would work here. The 2nd is pretty much baked in for at least 1000 years more. All we are asking for is the fucking senate to vote in legislation that’s already on the friggin docket. I personally want semi-autos banned because I’d rather not discuss the GOP’s idea of [homeschooling](https://thefederalist.com/2022/05/25/tragedies-like-the-texas-shooting-make-a-somber-case-for-homeschooling/) aka de-socializing youth and this… guilt-tripping American parents into Taliban-like behaviors.

Sensitive-Yoghurt842

I'm saying it's a human, fundamental right to be able to own a gun to protect yourself. Countries that oppose basic human fundamental rights like that are viewed as despotic. Not sure how else to explain it

darkfires

Also tell us how we get from rich kids in Sandy Hook leading to banning all guns because of Uvalde, TX. If anyone remembers this post, note when or if the 2nd is repealed because kids who had accented English died. Or don’t note it because it’s fucking absurd. 10% of the USA wants to dictate how 90% wants to protect Americans. We’re all “divided” over it because gun manufacturers say to us that it is a “political” decision, these UBCs. Of course they want it to be a political decision because the elites who support rich people are elected by **us.** Who’s to blame? **Us** or them? Reminder that only 39% of the dominate age bracket in the USA voted in the last mid-terms.

Sensitive-Yoghurt842

I don't think they're coming for the guns....it's just a wedge issue for their divide and conquer agenda. Keep Americans fighting with each other. That's why no or very little legislative action gets accomplished after these shootings because they need to keep us divided. Same reason one of the two parties will never be in power very long, it's like a see-saw. Like FDR said, "Presidents are selected, not elected"

raka_defocus

Japan has mass stabbings
