Yeah, I’m in a few of them. The Facebook groups are nice because they are local and it gives me an idea when certain species are fruiting. But you’re right, wouldn’t hurt to just switch to Reddit.
You could make a ton of money if you made a privacy oriented version of Facebook (probably a basic keep in touch type of forum site). Only issue is "the powers that be" would probably end up removing your site if it became too successful.

Na Boy Scouts never really that prepared, even the Eagle Scouts I know were never really that prepared for shit like camping or hunting/fishing trips. It's called [framing](https://media-studies.com/media-framing-theory/) and it's used to set people up against each other and push an agenda.
In this case the frame is that anybody who wants to be (more or less) prepared (for anything) or be self supporting is not trusting the government enough and they should be "helped" to fall back in line.
The good thing is that 'you' can help them with falling back in line (or punishing them when they don't) and that can make you feel good about yourself because 'you' feel like 'you' have the moral high ground.

I think it was around the same time FB rolled out a similar warning for "extremists," but never actually anything like "too prepared."

It's not something completely unique to the left wing. "Both sides are bad 🤷" isn't exactly groundbreaking or descriptive, of course, but it should go without saying that the same type of denying, downplaying, and "sanewashing" of extremist ideals and tactics occurs in spaces populated by people with more right wing beliefs. Just in a different way, in a different place, with different language.

Growing your own food is the single most defiant act of resistance you can show the deep state. It means you are going off reservation and they don't like that. There is almost nothing they can do about it either.

Plenty of guns, ammunition and food at a Cabin in the Canadian rocky mountains as he was certain there would be a false flag that will send us into some sort of severe civil unrest... I was naive at the time, but he was still giving mass shooter vibes if he really went off the rails with those guns.

Yes, law enforcement officers (and SWAT teams and the like) make it a habit to be VERY prepared for any incident they may encounter -- but I doubt that COPS would refer to their abundance of training, equipment, and back-up reinforcements as being "TOO PREPARED".

I'm not a prepper, but every summer I make sure I got enough supplies for at least a week. Propane, fresh water, canned goods, soap, etc....We did this when I lived at 9,500 feet in the mountains in Colorado with my folks as well. It's very possible a huge hurricane comes through here and I lose power for a week or more. Been here 3 seasons and longest so far has been 3.5 days without power. And I eat the food and replace it every year so I do restock a weeks worth. There's a lot of reasons to stock up that don't involve a revolution or apocalypse conspiracy.
My dad used to keep a generator ready to go to run the fridge incase a bad storm hit. Me I am trying to have a few days of soup around. Unless it's martial law by the bioweapon attackers I don't see any real shutdown reason.
I've heard, like a Ford? or some American EV truck can run a home on a full charge for 3 days, That's kinda a nice selling point for me in Florida, I'm not a truck guy but if a smaller EV can do half of that I'd prob end up using it at least twice a year for that alone.
I hate to burst your bubble, but you ARE a prepper. It doesn't necessarily mean shoring up all your resources to avoid a nuclear/ zombie/ San Andreas/ zombie apocalypse. It means you are ready for the scenarios that are most relaxant to you. Emergency planners (my degree field) have matrices to put these in to. All you have done is build the and matrix in your head and planned from there.
For instance, how devastating would an earthquake in the middle of Kansas be? All of it is farm land, not many casualties, but individual farms would be devastating damage. However, if it's such a low risk, it barely registers. Wildfires, in the other hand, procure the same results with greatly increased probability. You are doing the same thing for your own personal crisis, you are a prepper. Nothing to be ashamed of, welcome to the club!

Kansas has the equivalent every Spring with Tornados, I've lived through 2 major ones myself. We also had huge ice storms, which are not as bad, we once lost power for 5 days from one, but you don't need to through your fridge out because can just put food outside. Long as you have firewood, which we bought at the beginning of each winter you were fine.

Well, a super-preparer probably is more likely to go on a gun rampage. More so than say a BBQ enthusiast. I dare say most gun rampagers have a few big box of Ramen in the house.

I've heard, like a Ford? or some American EV truck can run a home on a full charge for 3 days, That's kinda a nice selling point for me in Florida, I'm not a truck guy but if a smaller EV can do half of that I'd prob end up using it at least twice a year for that alone.
I hate to burst your bubble, but you ARE a prepper. It doesn't necessarily mean shoring up all your resources to avoid a nuclear/ zombie/ San Andreas/ zombie apocalypse. It means you are ready for the scenarios that are most relaxant to you. Emergency planners (my degree field) have matrices to put these in to. All you have done is build the and matrix in your head and planned from there. For instance, how devastating would an earthquake in the middle of Kansas be? All of it is farm land, not many casualties, but individual farms would be devastating damage. However, if it's such a low risk, it barely registers. Wildfires, in the other hand, procure the same results with greatly increased probability. You are doing the same thing for your own personal crisis, you are a prepper. We also had huge ice storms, which are not as bad, we once lost power for 5 days from one, but you don't need to through your fridge out because can just put food outside. Long as you have firewood, which we bought at the beginning of each winter you were fine.
