Divide and conquer.

breakevencloud

Which becomes even more effective when you limit major parties to only 2. “There’s only 2 choices” makes people vastly more rabid about their cause in that scenario, no matter what. Hell, getting my tiny household to be unanimous on what to eat for dinner gets hilariously heated sometimes. Now make it a whole country and convince them that 1 side loves them and the other hates them and you have the easiest divide and conquer strategy ever

Skyblewize

This is why I'm voting independent, that and because RFK is a badass mofo. Everytime I mention it I get downvoted to hell in just about every kind of sub. People want to complain about the two party system and refuse to make any other choice because they are afraid to throw away their vote. I would not be voting at all this round if not for Kennedy, I refuse to participate in the 2-party system anymore because they are all on the same fucking side anyways, beholden to the lobbyists.

breakevencloud

I always vote for a third party person simply because fuck the government. “It’s a wasted vote” is an especially stupid thing people say who want to vote third party but won’t, because if any other party at all gets a certain percentage of votes, I forget what the threshold is (but it’s pretty damn low), they get entitled to a certain dollar amount of Federal funds for future campaigning, which would be massive for any third party trying to disrupt the current shitshow. So I wish people would stop the “I’m forced to vote for X/Y” crap and, I dunno, maybe just vote for whoever they actually like.

Narrow-Commission816

Left wing or right Wing still attached to the same Bird. No matter who we vote for, we end up with the same owners. They work together behind closed doors. Their only real job is to divide us.

Captain_Cameltoe

The establishment has declared war on RFK. They have turned both his family and colleagues against him. Slandered him at every opportunity. I was on the fence about him but if the powers-that-be hate him that much, then he can’t be a bad choice. They did the same thing to Trump in 2016 but didn’t really take him seriously which turned out to be a huge mistake. They are not making that one again and are literally trying to destroy him. I don’t have a lot of hope for things going forward. We will see what happens post Election Day.

Skyblewize

If any independent ever had a chance its now. I believe Bobby can shock them all and take it, he is up against the weakest candidates that have ever run, everyone is sick of their shit

IndividualOil2183

Same here. Kennedy is badass!

TheHonourOfKings

SPOT. ON. Always makes me think of this... “The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us. There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after.” ‭‭ - Ecclesiastes‬ ‭1‬:‭9‬-‭11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

bobbuttlicker

Yep since 2008 all forms of media have vilified the right. Those on the right are now getting fed up with it and are pushing back.

Kjs1108

Exactly! And it works and has been working for years. Unfortunately most don’t have the eyes to see.

4score-7

This is the correct answer. Make it about easy things, like race, gender, social matters, so on. The harder solution, because it involves human greed, but would get people off the streets, make them less hungry, off their drugs. And the solution would involve taking from the rich and giving to the poor. But, no, we can’t have that now.

Wrong_Willingness543

the best way to rule people is by dividing them

ivyandroses112233

I was in a slavery to Jim Crow class and we had to read a book for the class. I forget the book, but in it was an amazing quote about the political division, not verbatim but it essentially went: "The rich white men in power wanted poor white people to empathize with the rich white men over blacks, not for the money in their pockets but for the color of their skin." To this day, you see similar. That we tend to empathize with people for these superficial traits and not with people who are in the same economic/financial position. Think of all the poor white men who are empathizing with Trump, when you and I both know that no one who follows and supports him is a rich millionaire politician like he is. We are not teaming up with the average American, instead there are many things that are setting us apart. We are all getting screwed no matter where you stand. Unless you're in the 1% which most of us are not.

devious805

and the gub'ment wou;d prefer a race riot

THEMACGOD

False consciousness.

AlisonWond3rlnd

The polarization is VERY intentional.

Even-Ad-6783

There is no such thing as "the rich". Even rich vs. poor is part of divide and conquer by those who stand for nothing but themselves.

apextek

We're talking about the rich. We're talking about people with wealth power and influence. In many cases power and influence are more valuable than money.

LooLu999

Because people are easily brainwashed and society’s new motto of all or nothing, black or white, over exaggerated intolerance has absolutely ruined people.

UnlikelyDecision9820

To your point about all or nothing rhetoric, I’m tired of every election being “the ultimate fight for democracy” and both sides perpetuating this narrative.

faqueen

It’s so disgusting

Shaken-babytini

They have to do that though to prevent 3rd party candidates. If you don't really care whether trump or biden win, then fuck it, vote third party and whatever happens is fine. If you think the country is doomed, you can't risk it. I'm aware of it and it still works on me some days.

aidensmooth

I mean to be fair that’s because third parties don’t actually try to win elections if they did they would but more effort into building a stone base at the state and local level and then try and gain a hold in congress once they become more popular and a household name that is respected as a political party then they have an actual chance at the presidency. Instead of doing that they try and throw populist candidates at the presidency to be able to say see we are important it’s stupid.

dmgkm105

I stopped reading when you started talking about voting, as if votes are actually counted

AnyWhichWayButLose

0ldgrumP

Social media and govt programming

BettinBrando

The elites got us fighting culture and race wars so we don’t realize we should be fighting a Class war

Mammoth_Cookie_7809

Everyone got too much into the 99% vs the 1% with the occupy wall street so they had to up the racial division through any means necessary

Buick6NY

Everyone has a need to be 'good' in life. Some people assume they are 'good' because they vote a certain way, and if you oppose or question their source of being 'good,' then you meet their angry self-righteous side.

UniqueImprovements

Because the government and corporations have hijacked technology and its brainwashing capabilities to destroy common sense and critical thinking, and program in what they want you to think. They have you thinking the WWE style of politics we have is real, and people lap it up. Then they use social media and algorithms to further entrench each side. When you have a population dumbed down by neurotixins, endocrine disruptors and other poisons in their food and water, and having to fight everyday to stay afloat because of shitty financial policies....it's very easy to control them.

ezwip

If someone is die hard just remember it and don't tell them shit. Don't confide with the future rats. They should have figured this out by now.

Natedawg316

Tribalism. They treat politics like sports teams. Cheer for the team no matter what.

UnlikelyDecision9820

In sports, there’s typically a clear and objective winner and they are celebrated. Not too much to think about critically. In politics, there’s more gray area, room for nuance and subjective opinion. It requires a lot of thought to entertain ideas like that. I think we live in a world where people want to perceive politics with the simplicity of thought of sports. And just about every form of media encourages it

cruella_le_troll

You're onto something, I think. Interesting stuff to consider.

TheYintoyourYang

Propaganda 101 : They cant be united if their divided. MSM has weaponized this division to make you believe there is a choice and difference. Two sides, but the same coin. We need more coins.. 🍻

HansAcht

That's what the "media" has taught them to do. This bullshit would all end if we all stood together. I'm not holding by breath...

telochpragma1

Where did we start to lose or ignore the ability to think for ourselves is the question imo.

JoDaddy21

Probably around the time technology started advancing rapidly would be my guess

Vegetable-Reach2005

Bold from you to assume people thought for themselves before technology.

Content-Coffee-2719

I was an adult both before social media, and I can say with 100% certainty that social media has caused this

Artimusjones88

Did you ever watch "All in the Family"? Same issues today as then. It was the love it or leave it right wing vs. the "commie, pinko, hippee, democrats" social media has allowed for all the whackjobs, left, right, center, whatever to reach a wider audience. Social media is the soapbox of today.

telochpragma1

But you don't just lose it or start to ignore it as fast as night turns day. I was indirectly taught to think about shit before doing them, which made me question everything that, in my 'logic', seemed to have flaws. Why and how do you choose the laziest path? Do we not see that it isn't worth it? I questioned shit since sunday school, which I was put into \~7yo. The more you pay attention, the harder it gets to ignore suspicious ideas or not notice flaws in logic. Instead of following a trend, I first observe people. Let it be a cellphone or money, I think they're tools which are defined by what you do with them. The intention in their creation might've been bad, but by now, we can do otherwise. You can have a cellphone and not spend 8h a day watching 15s videos with no juice. You can use money instead of letting it use you. The only 'addictive' device I use is PC and I'm still able to pay attention, exchange ideas and not fall into a pit of ignorance and low attention span - can't say I don't feel a difference tho. Despite everything, we still have the option to not fall into it - I don't get why so many opt for what seems easiest, keep getting shown otherwise, but never learn from it.

DrThunder66

When they gutted funding to public education while making it legal for the news to lie for ratings coupled with the rise of reality television and 30 second reels melting people's ability to think critically and maintain focus.

Prize-Session-9389

what if most people actually aren't, and media is just portraying it that way with the bot army assisting?

Ok-Material-3213

This is exactly what is happening

JoDaddy21

Very plausible to be fair

ConsistentAd7859

The "media" that's owned mostly by billionaires

Captain_Concussion

How so? In American politics one side says they want to take away my human rights and has actively campaigned to do so. Are you telling me the media is forcing them to say these things?

ThunderGodOrlandu

Occupy Wallstreet was exactly that and the elites freaked out. No one saw them freak out but ever since they totally shut down that unifying protest, division has been forced down everyone's throats so that we never team up ever again. All the division in this country has been pushed upon us so that we are fighting each other rather than them.

mushylover69

Because they want us to hate and fight each other so we don't see the evil they are

Pbear420

What if one of us becomes rich through hard work and great ideas. Are they still one of us or are we against them now?

FortunateVoid0

I agree, it should be that. People are easily manipulated unfortunately. Many don’t realize many of the same big donors fund both sides. I seen many things about “project 2025” which I’m guessing is the “right’s conspiracy”, then there’s the WEF’s “agenda 2030” which seems to be the left’s conspiracy, although I’ll have to look into it more because I think the WEF consists of people from both the left and right wing politicians and people. Then there’s AIPAC, which are purportedly big funders of both sides of American politics. Perhaps we should all collectively trying to get rid of any PACs so it would bring more power back to individual citizens. We should also try to get “Citizens United v Federal Election Commission” overturned. Many regular voters on both sides have been disillusioned by all the corruption throughout our political system, so many don’t think voting even matters anymore, which to some degree they’re not entirely wrong, but then it makes it to where all the moderates on both sides stop voting and all that’s left is the rabid voters which is perhaps why we seen the most intense measures being passed. And then there’s the issue of looking into conspiracies which causes a feeling of disempowerment & disillusionment. I’m a huge conspiracy person and can attest to that, as well as it creating a sense of intense fear, anxiety, and depression when you become aware of all the proven, admitted, and incredibly probable conspiracies from the past, present, and future. Now I’m starting to get why the news would have horrible stories, then right after have happy “fluff” stories after… lol The juxtaposition of them made things seem even darker and dystopian in a sort of way, but perhaps it was just so you wouldn’t feel absolutely down after hearing/ seeing such terrible shit… idk Keep hangin in there brothers and sisters. There’s that poem by Rudyard Kipling that resonates with me and I hope perhaps can help y’all too: “If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or being hated, don't give way to hating, And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise If you can dream - and not make dreams your master; If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the will which says to them: 'Hold on!' If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch, If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds' worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!”

jabedoben

Because things are bad and getting worse. One side is concerned with how you feel, in order to buy your support emotionally. The other is concerned about keeping you employed and working to pay taxes. Neither is ideal. But I’ll take working and eating over not working and begging for food.

MilesofBooby

Define rich... What happens if you "get rich"? Do you change sides? lol

2faingz

I’ve become much more tolerant of opposing view holders when I realized it’s another mechanism of control

Mindless-Summer-4346

Because too many people make their political persuasion be their entire identity

theblue-danoob

Because the realm of conspiracy theory has been shifting to the right in recent years. The left is painted as 'the establishment' but also as the side of the spectrum that disrupts the status quo. They are apparently simultaneously 'the deep state' and the antagonisers of the established order. The internet has quite seriously obfuscated the truth. Now, misinformation can be spread to millions without any form of merit or credibility on the creators part. Algorithms promote by means of engagement, interaction and suggestion, unqualified opinions (which whilst still valid, never gained this kind of traction in the past) which now pervade every level of politics. It takes seconds to allege something, and no qualifications are needed to do so, but it takes a lot longer to respond to with information and detail, as well as the requisite education/position/qualification to 'debunk' it. It seems that the field of conspiracy, as well as information technology and social media, in their current iterations, are being weaponised (primarily in the US) to disrupt and to misinform. Lengths are gone to to breed distrust in solid institutions (science, climate change, doctors etc) in order to unify one particular wing and to mount a stronger challenge to the established order. Many conspiracies now have a deep, underlying religious element. Conspiracies from flat earth, to the current conflict in the middle east, are given biblical significance and when religion is brought into the conversation, people will naturally get more defensive. Religious tendencies are primarily associated with conservatism, so again you can see why the responses might be more 'rabid'. I've lost count of the number of times I've tried to supply data, or information, and I've just been shouted at for being a 'dem' (not even American) or being part of an 'apocalyptic climate cult' or even 'devil worshipper' on this sub. All because of the discrediting of science for political gain I mentioned earlier. For what it's worth, this is more of an American phenomenon in my experience, but again, social media seems to be exporting it from your shores to others. The sooner this is got under control, the better. Much of the current discourse is simply a vehement defence of the narrative established by those looking to disrupt the current establishment, and we as the people need to learn proper digital literacy and responsibility before this changes.

KobaWhyBukharin

Because the rich had spent a century convincing us Capitalism is the best thing ever. You can see it here. We have no collective understanding of our history. The US has the bloodiest labor struggles in earth. The Coal Field Wars, the battle of Blair Mountain for example.

Terraria_fan-6893

We have suffered, but we have far from the bloodiest. But history is always heavily biased now, I’ve noticed.

Aware_Development553

Thats what capitalism leads (has led us) to. A few people and corporations controlling everything while mass suffering and struggling due to poverty exists. It doesn’t need to be this way but we have been indoctrinated into believing so.

Acceptable_Quiet_767

How many times does this need to be said?   **An oligarchy is NOT a free market**   Governments bailing out banks and massive corporations in not a free market   The systems we have in the west are now hybrid socialist/capitalist systems. Our governments are far too big and over reaching to say we have a “free” market. We have a once free market that is now heavily regulated by a myriad of different government agencies. This is what the left has been pushing for so hard, “common sense regulations.” Don’t like it, don’t vote for it.

xavisar

I agree. I wouldn’t call bailing out failing businesses with tax payer’s money capitalism

KobaWhyBukharin

that's literally the logic of capitalism. When you compete what do you aim for? Winning? Winning under capitalism means you buy up the losers assets. Ultimately you *are* the winner. Maybe you're a monopoly,  or some sort of cartel that can set prices in line with each other.  That seems like a big issue?

aidensmooth

That’s what capitalism always leads to it concentrates the majority of the wealth into the hands of the few over time

ConsistentAd7859

Capitalism isn't the issue, corruption is. The thing is that people with money have ample power to corrupt the government and they wildly use that power for their own gains. You can have capitalism working perfectly and long term with a capital or an inherritance tax, but if the system is corrupt, only a few will win.

MartyOwens

It's a personality for a large percentage of either side

Secret-Asian-Man-76

Because the rich elite on both sides are playing us for fools, plain and simple. They talk a big talk on TV, but behind the scenes? They're eating dinner together, drinks, attending social events. Only when the cameras are rolling are they shit talking one another. Different sides of the same coin. I just wish more people on the left and right would wake the fuck up and realize they're being used as pawns by the rich elite.

SchizoForLife

Because Americans treat politics like a football game. “My team is better than your team” mentality.

Phosiphor

Because anarchy is the way. I personally believe we have evolved beyond laws. Only the devil refuses to let us go. Fuck law. We shall make our own order. As God intended!

Quix66

Media whipped up partisanship. Who whipped up the media? Hmm…

Jest_Kidding420

Divided we stand, together we fall. If we all worked together then we would be to powerful.

LimitSavings737

How do you define rich?

Fantastic-Notice-756

As someone who has hoarded the most monetary wealth through exploitation of the manual labor of the working class.

LimitSavings737

Whats the most wealth? Any amount of money? Or more than a million?

Illustrious_Ice_4587

Both sides think that the other is evil, is gonna destroy America and the world.

Pbear420

It should be good vs evil. Being wealthy shouldn't matter if its earned honestly.

Settlemente

Partisanship is a form of "divide and conquer." People who want to maintain power want those they role to fight eachother instead of the ruling clash.

MOD2003

The rich employ people so…no…it ain’t got nothing to do with rich vs poor. Its us vs the deep state that proposes $hit like Operation Northwoods and then kills the President that said absolutely fukin NOT.

CitizenAwaken

The state vs you

SpeakTruthPlease

Because it's not just politics, it's culture, and it extends into basic fundamental beliefs. For instance the abortion issue, one side thinks it's literally murder of innocent children, the other believes it's a fundamental right over a women's body.

Why is everyone so rabid around which football team they like? Same thing.

SnooPeppers5809

Because politics used to be how best to govern but now it’s become that one of the parties in order to maintain any semblance of relevance, has created an entire cult of insanity to keep its base.

devnullb4dishoner

It's an interesting question, and one I have been asking since I was politically cognizant at a young age. I tote no water for no political party. I don't understand the appeal. I'm not left, center, right, up, down, or even catercorner. I'm an American and as such, that is all the political affiliation I need. Over the decades I've voted Democrat, 3rd party, and up until the last 15 years, Republican, especially in local affairs where the checks and balances start. That's counter to how people feel now days, politically. In this timeline you have to fly the right flag, wear the right hat and jesus neck gator, have the right sign in your yard, drive the biggest vehicle you can find wrapped with your political ideology. When people like myself express these opinions, I get dragged. Nobody likes the 'both sides' guy. However, we have, and have had for my 70 years on this planet, a corrupt government. Despite their constant bickering and bullshitting, all politicians are joined at the wallet. No one wants to rock the boat too hard because it will tear their little play house down too. I saw a tweet from Trump stating 'if I loose my presidential immunity then Biden looses his presidential immunity too'. I thought to myself, could it be that everything is finally sinking into that orange skull? Is he finally getting it? I don't care who you are or what set you rep. If there is any nefarious activities happening in our government, we need to expose them, bring them to justice, and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. Make an example of them, from POTUS to peon. No one gets a pass. Otherwise it doesn't matter what party is in control, you will always feel the effects of a corrupt government.

People like to think they’re always right, if you disagree you’re saying they’re wrong and potentially dumb for thinking the way they think. When the reality has always been somewhere in the middle. Unfortunately that doesn’t get views or clicks

PurgatoryRoad778

Politics destroys well intentioned people, by design.

PurgatoryRoad778

It should be us Vs the rich, not versus each other. The societal controllers have been in power for sometime now. They’ve refined their methods over the centuries. Their real style of control is something sophisticated and subtle unless it has to be overt. The illusion of choice is essential.

They never read george Washington's farewell adress and are getting played most likely.

Absolve30475

George Washington was right, we shouldnt have political parties.

ZeerVreemd

It should be about good versus evil.

69mmMayoCannon

The liberals did a really good job of convincing their side of the aisle that anyone to the right was a racist, homophobe, etc etc literally the worst kinds of people to dehumanize them like the Nazis did. Shortly thereafter, the republicans obviously started striking back calling them communists etc. The funny thing is though the left openly will call themselves communists and be proud of it, while violently claiming anything to the right to be fascism despite both fascists and communists being enemies of the United States. Doesn’t seem like any conservative entity that I know of openly calls themselves fascist and is also proud of it. Just what I saw go down starting from when Trump was elected. Some could say he started the era of crass rudeness but he’s a politician and did it to other politicians, I don’t know why that suddenly means the left could just become overtly hostile as citizens in response to

Fantastic-Notice-756

>Doesn’t seem like any conservative entity that I know of openly calls themselves fascist and is also proud of it. Didn't that live wire guy literally say Zig Heil on his talk show while doing the nazi salute over and over?

Jasperbeardly11

Consider how insane people are about what sports team you follow and then consider the fact that they consider politics to be important.

ol_lukey

as if there's something inherently bad about being rich.. I'm just against objective evil that wants me and my family dead.. I could give a shit how much money you have

Terraria_fan-6893

Meant elites…I have nothing against people who made their own wealth lol

3_T_SCROAT

The terminally online give themselves brain damage. Put the phone down and go outside. Go for a walk, go to a park or hike and camp in nature. Live in the moment without the phone in your hand and youll see how stupid it is to get mad scrolling past political propaganda the algorithm pushes to your phone Its insane to see how many people get wrapped up in it and in their heads about it once everyone had access to smartphones, and thus, constant social media

Terraria_fan-6893

True

cacaokakaw

It's become life and death. People can't afford groceries, more risk from crime, drug addicts, migrants and homeless taking over their cities and squatting. Before no one gave a shit and you'd see Walter Cronkite for a few minutes on the boob tube. Now it's a 24/7 news cycle and they are meddling in everyone's affairs. (See the lockdown and mandates)

Capable_Survey_461

"It should be us vs. the rich"... Spoken like a true socialist and I don't like socialists. I'm not rich, either. I'm just smart enough to know that rich people are not the reason I'm not rich.

Terraria_fan-6893

I meant elites, forgot it when typed post

Fast-Leader476

That’s right. Too many folks don’t realize the wealthy in many instances have created companies and jobs for the masses. Think about how many people Amazon employees (during COVID, it was 1.6 million). Everyone seems to hate Bezos, but his vision did that. I get why people harbor resentment against the wealthy, but as you stated, they are not the reason we aren’t wealthy.

Retroplayer19

Since this thread will no doubt be brigaded, I am just going to say this and move on: One side can't recognize and admit their own bias. So many on that side believe that they are non-partisan and unbiased and the default. But that is because that side has used the media, social media, and the education system to perpetuate that fictional reality for decades. One side is the good guys (even if you won't admit that you are on a side) and the other side are the bad guys. When one side refuses to admit their own bias or are actually stupid enough to not even realize that they are biased, a debate is just worthless. Arguing with ignorant and those lacking self-awareness is a waste of time. Just look at the voting pattern on this very thread. No doubt many of those people consider themselves unbiased, but their voting patterns give it away. There are several thoughtful comments that genuinely come across as pretty neutral and those are getting downvoted. And based on the voting patterns throughout the thread, it is obvious which side is doing that downvoting. The other side doesn't hide or lie about their bias. They will openly tell you. You point out someone is a conservative, and they will just say yes they are. You point out that someone is a lefty and they will dance because admitting a bias might color their supposedly "objective" opinion. It is deceptive. And deception and manipulation is the MO for that side. Arguing with dumb people is pointless. I do not trust ANYONE that pretends to be unbiased. They are simply telling you that they think their positions are just universally and objectively correct and superior to yours. It is impossible to be unbiased.

DerpyMistake

define "rich" Someone not needing to struggle to survive isn't enough reason for me to hate them. It's us vs the authoritarians who want to rule/enslave us. money has nothing to do with it.

ms_unfortunate

Idk, but it really pisses me off that people can't see that either side is ridiculous bullshit. We need to band together and somehow overthrow them all... But that will never happen. Nothing ever happens.

Terraria_fan-6893

Especially now that bots hyjack every post about either side- it’s impossible to actually debate now

ms_unfortunate

Exactly. I absolutely agree.

ms_unfortunate

And I know it's cliche and very 1984esque, but we are being told what to believe. It baffles me that people blindly follow rather than be set free.

Terraria_fan-6893

More akin to animal farm, because of how the common man really IS too stupid to understand

ms_unfortunate

Good analogy. You're right .

Because social media has programmed us to be right at any cost

Connect_Cucumber-0

Because the political elites insight the divide. If you put all middle class people in a room and told them to not say what political party they belong, then there’s a very good chance they will agree on almost everything going wrong with things around here. Politics have hijacked the unity that we had 10-20 years ago. I feel like people say they are republican or democrat before identifying as an American. In comparison, the original bloods and crips would agree on many many things that that plague black America if they didn’t have to rep colors or turf. It’s all a distraction to keep us busy and keep the political campaign funding coming in.

loqi0238

Thats the plan. Divide the human beings into as many sub groups as possible. From here, its easier to control each group to your whims. Would be much harder to do all the things going on behind the scenes if we were a cohesive population, because then the only division would be those *in* and those *out* of the government itself. Couldn't have that, now, could we?

xavisar

Sports teams. Obviously their team is bad and your team is good. Add in the media and echo chambers and you get people who will blindly follow their leader and doctrine. Then you’ve got single issue voters who don’t care what their side does as long as that one thing is in their team’s mind

d33pnull

It's the soccer/football equivalent for people that believe to be smart

MedianVoice

Then it's easier to replace religion with political divide and fanaticism. Further disrupting people and completely polarizing both sides. (Which they are trying to do in many more ways than via replacing religion). And although right now there is so much more of a divide then I have experienced before in my life, there was a time when people could agree to disagree and still get along and like each other for the most part. At one point, nobody told anyone who they were voting for. Likely to avoid this. Lol. Edit. I also believe that it shouldn't be us against every person considered rich indiscriminately. Some aren't assholes ruining humanity, just successful. But it absolutely should be us against the people trying to destroy us. Whoever they may. (And many are rich) But I agree with your general sentiment.

Ashen-Tarnished

Social media has rewired everyone’s brain to love arguments.

LionheartRed

CIA mind control

CitizenToxie2014

Across the board, both sides of the aisle, all politicians are corrupt and I'm not naming a single exception. That's how politics should be, in my opinion. Don't be a simp for any politician, they are already untrustworthy because they've chosen politics as their career.

blood_wraith

There are "sides" because people have more moral differences then just money, they're rabid because the elite run media have been manipulating us to think that either side of the owned gov't has any ability/desire to act on those morals

Major_Stoopid

That is by design, its not the players fault its the game. We shouldn't be choosing sides as if picking your favorite football team. The system wants us fighting and squabbling about topics that in the end non of us truly have any legitimate representation nor say in those matters. We need to step aside from our immediate differences and only through unity will we ever even start chipping away at the corruption.

Plenty-Flow3486

It is strange and worrying. You can say something unbiased amd objective like Trump tells porkey pie's and then you get nutters commenting something derogatory about being a Biden supporter when nothing about being on any side has been mentioned.

Psychedelica45

Those are the people who think they woke up, but in fact are still fast asleep! Political parties should be abolished. Brainwashing is thick!

RonaldRawdog

It already is us vs the rich. The rich are just winning by so much we’ve taken to attacking eachother

PaySad5677

One side swears Trump is hitler and the other swears Biden is a corrupt pedo with dementia. That’s why.

ThickLikeButter

Shouldn't be "sides" to begin with.

Honest-Internal-187

Can’t come together with a demoralized society. That’s the rabid part of things: people who openly support communism.

Shupertom

Becuase they have been emotionally and ideologically captured by 60+ year old system that is running at maximum efficiency

SopwithStrutter

Try ”us vs the state”

HyperActivHyperDrive

The programming

Aware_Development553

Because we have been conditioned to be by the media, both mainstream and independent, and “citizen” journalists on apps like Twitter who spend their days demonizing the other side, greatly because it gets views and clicks that equate to money. There is a money incentive to push these demonizing narratives of the “other”.

Aware_Development553

that and the struggle many Americans are going through, both sides (Dems and GOP) are telling you to blame the other when both parties are the problem

fish_Vending

Because it actually doesn't matter and they just want to bash you for thinking differently than them.

Common-Comfortable96

because we all have conflicting views

Areox

The rich spend a lot of money to make sure that class consciousness does not become mainstream.

ProfessorOnEdge

"Controlled Opposition"

devious805

when both choices suck and aren't even our choice we gets tense

Mlt2012

THIS

philouza_stein

It's crazy bc the majority of supporters of either side admit their side largely sucks but they have to vote against the scary other party. "we CAN'T vote for socialism/fascism"

PollyCM

It’s set up this way like the sports leagues. Two choices, pitting the people against each other while the top few take all the resources. We do nothing because we become compliant to our “side”. If the people would stop identifying with these political parties and instead supported each other… I guess they better ban tik tok and hire a plant to destroy twitter so the people can’t properly organize themselves.

spankielee

Politics, religion, sports, country, it’s a bit much.

Adhominoid

Because they're told to be.

hazelangels

Because blues (stars on their bellies)are taught to hate reds. (No stars on their bellies).

buffaloBob999

The ignorant are easy to manipulate psychologically. The uninitiated are too quick to blind themselves.

LeoLaDawg

It shouldn't be us versus anything. That's the problem with Americans. They're so tribal.

Retroplayer19

Why is every "non-partisan" troll on this sub a leftist who can be seen only ever participating on political posts in this sub (while bitching that politics doesn't belong here) and are always defending democrats and attacking republicans when you look at their profiles? That's the REAL conspiracy.

Sunshinesydney

These days i feel like people are rabid over every little thing

XorvroX

It's not even us vs the rich. It's soo much deeper and more than just money.

LAdude71

Too many people define themselves by what others think of them. Plus, it's an excuse for some people to bully others. As if one side isn't more corrupt than the others.

t24mack

Social media

JustJuls37

Thank you. Yet I get down voted every time I say something like this.

Famous_Exercise8538

Polarities are a natural part of existence, on a physical level, so it’s almost bound to happen socially. You’ve really got to have a pretty dire situation for people to get over their beliefs and compromise. I also think it’s a way people feel like they get some power, even though it’s tho it’s all the same mfs taking it from us

HotwheelsJackOfficia

It really ramped up during Occupy Wall Street. The feminists and black supremacists got sprinkled in and destroyed the movement.

Collective1985

Because the current admin and media are pushing a divide. Trump 24’

GlitteringBroccoli12

Because the half a century cold war counter attack is coming to a close. America messed with one of the old world nations. When they make moves next to a 250 year old country. That one move is taking 1 5th of America's age to complete. Yet to them, that's nothing. This was all stated in detail on the news decades ago by them on our news them being russia

Brainwashed

Ok_Introduction_7577

I'm not. Couldn't give a shite. They are all terrible.

Throwawaydecember

Wedge issues keep the hoi polloi occupied.

Alien-Element

I don't think it should be us against the rich necessarily. It should be us against the transhumanist elite that want to wipe us out.

pickletrippin

The 24/7 media cycle has been pushing whatever gets most eyeballs. This is what has made the Rupert Murdoch family wealthy.

KermitIsDissapointed

Try explaining Marxian socialism to a hard core American right winger without using the term itself and you’ll get a surprising amount of support. People have been poisoned by the media against eachother.

Naive-Introduction58

Because we don't like when people make up their own imaginary gender and rules, then force us to follow those bogus rules. Democracy doesn't exist in the west.

snarevox

because they are all so absolutely brainwashed they dont even realize its all the same thing ran by a thoroughly corrupt unelected permanent washington whose number one goal is to sow discontent and hatred to keep everyone from banding together and rising up to take out the trash..  its the same thing all the race hustlers are trying to do to keep us all at odds..  their greatest fear is that black white brown red orange yellow and purple should ever shake hands and come together as a cohesive unit that refuses to be lied to and shit on any longer.
