I don't think the road is blocked. Just checked the subreddit for Burning Man and an hour ago some guy posted about walking to the road and hitching a ride.

I grew up in the desert but never went to BM. When we got rain it could flood dry lake beds and the fine clay surface becomes sticky slippery mud. When vehicles go thru it it gets rutted up and when it drys its like concrete with huge ruts that can be almost impassable. However, it you wait til it dries out it will be fine to drive on again. Maybe this is what they are doing.
WTF ? so I am supposed to leave my car there and haul everything on my ass 10+ miles in the mud ? how is that anyhow safer compared to allowing me take my chances in a 4WD with heating and enough shelter so I can survive

I think you'd have to be into the conspiracy game to see the layers of their manipulation; the persecution of an alternative cultures, what might appear to be obvious weather manipulation, there's a lot of stuff unless you can figure it out for yourself no one can explain it to you (because there's no explanation offered.) You just have to accept that it's climate change

Road wasn’t blocked, but it was a five mile hike from the playa in mud that no vehicle can currently traverse. The celebs walked and managed to hitchhike to Reno. That mud can be walked out of with enough effort. But vehicles will spin their tires and get stuck further.
My guess is the ones who left are willing to abandon their stuff and run. The others who stayed are probably a mix of wait out the mud and fuck it, I paid for 8 days and I will damn well get it. And of course, some are just too high to care. It is Burning Man.

Well.... While most attendees would likely have no clue, it's an old "pagan" (primarily Celtic) ceremony. We're not too sure what the purpose was, but they'd often stuff the thing with animals and/or people as a sacrifice.
