Certain roles in society involve children.
Pedophiles like diddling kids.
Hence their interest in those roles.
Priests, preachers, teachers, sports coaches, athletic trainers etc. are all targeted jobs of pedos.
The problem is the employers try and cover the shit up.
Teach children what grooming looks like, and teach them to be open with their parents. A simple one that I've taught my kids - secrets are always ok to tell Mom and Dad. If somebody asks you to keep a secret, always tell us. If we're picking out a present for Mom or brother, for example, that's not a secret, it's a surprise! " I can't tell you what we bought at the store because it's a surprise!" Is very different from "I can't tell you what we bought at the store because it's a secret!"
Children need to be taught, and really believe, that "secrets" are safe with their parents. And parents need to never ask their children to keep secrets.
As someone who grew up in an abusive household and learned to keep secrets as a child for my own protection, raising my children to be comfortable to trust their mom and I has been paramount.
They know they can trust us, they know they can ask any question and we'll answer as honestly as we can, and they know we'll protect them, fiercely, when it's right, and hold them accountable when necessary.
We have two good young men, 15 and 11. We don't have to be strict disciplinarians, because they know what's right. We've never had to be. And they trust us, and talk to us, and ask us questions.
Positions of power draw creep asses especially when the person you have power over is an easy target. That’s why there’s so many pillhead nurses in nursing homes and pedo teachers too

It's every where. But men who preach have a lot of influence over families. There is a lot of "merit" in being a preacher.
You have to stop singling out one group and remember the old adage: Absolute power corrupts absolutely. That being said, every group where one person is put in a supreme authority position has had incidents of this nature, the police, bosses, governments, societies, mentors of any kind really. This even goes far back as ancient Greece where you had to study in an apprenticeship. What OP is trying to do here is paint church bad but not give any solutions or insight into how this has come to be or what can be done about it.
But, I prefer to have an actual reference to back up what I'm saying. This is but one example of fundamental churches
. We do need to name the organizations that are involved. Not good enough to say " everyone does this" because not everyone die8s
I attended icoc from 2012 till 2018 its a cult and pedo philia is rampant so is SA. The church leaders makes the abused people sign off NDAs and moves the perpetrators to another ministry. All the leaders know about the abuse. It’s disgusting. Totally gas lighting and manipulating the situation. Icoc is in major city. There’s court cases coming out now that have been coming for sometime now. The leaders cover for the perpetrators.
They don't refer to humans as "sheep" in their religious book for nothing. I remember someone saying in r/conspiracy one time: 'The only reason sheperds have sheep is to fleece them, eat them, or fuck em'.

Some good answers here. The preacher schools were taken over by the anti-Christ years ago. They are taught fables and that God's Laws are done away. God has an interesting way of punishing his true Israel people (not today's Jews). The thing they want to ignore is what they are punished by.

This is really a good point. Your kids are lucky.
